Just finished playing through the demo twice. First as a Vanguard, which is my main Shep's class--and gosh is it fun! Charge+Nova FTW! I played also as an Infiltrator, which my Renegade Shep is, and I didn't even get the option to use a sniper rifle, which I was kinda irritated at.
The new normal IS veteran. I didn't play in any other mode than RP mode, but the fighting is harder, and the enemies definitely flank you. There is no more hiding in cover and shooting away. Overall, the experience was good.
Some things that do bother me: Anderson looks like he's made out of plastic. I understand he's black, and maybe it's hard to get the lighting on his skin tone right, but he looks like a wax-man. And this is not helped by the fact that his facial expressions and talking are equally robotic looking to me. Also, in the beginning of the demo, I feel like Femshep's lips didn't even remotely match up to what she was saying, and it looked kind of bad, honestly (the female defense comittee's lip-synching was awesome, tho! Can we put a little more effort in Shep's?). And finally, yes, the hair. I'm hoping that ME3 will actually have more hair options to choose from because most of those were awful. I picked the ponytail.
I DID, however, make a purple-haired Shep that I feel totally doesn't belong in the military Alliance universe, but looked awesome nonetheless.
EDIT: Also, did anyone else find the rolling mechanic kind of clumsy? I kept rolling from cover to cover half the time, and I just wanted to move OUT of cover. Maybe it'll take some getting used to.
