The demo isn't really spoiler-y. I played it several times and it doesn't reveal anything story wise. It plays through the intro to the game and then goes right into the Salarian base combat. It skips over the story.

It spoilery in terms of the game's flavor, I guess.

Also some gameplay techniques are spoiled  (SPOILER ALERT)
I was sad to learn that vanguard's don't get an omni-blade. We have a biotic-punch instead.

I'm sorry for yelling, but you would like me to tell you the beggining of a movie that you haven't seen? No right?, well...I don't like that either, so please...keep the thread clean of spoilers, we have seen enough crap of that already...

I undertsand, but where exactly are people suppoused to discuss the demo then? IMO spoilers from officially released material should be allowed.

I second this. If Bioware unleashed it, it's fair game. I watched the 1st mission and some of the second. I think it gives me just enough knoledge to get in trouble (speculation-wise). Nothing game-breaking.

You could leave like some people are doing. I for one commend their resolve. They're more committed than I am. I can't muster the will to stay away and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

I know, but I like to poke around here, Kaidan is what gather us together, right? We share art, opinions, fanfics and pictures (so it's not all about spoilers)...but also, I'm empathetic with the rest, if you have already played the demo, good for you all...but why spoil the fun of others reveling info about how the mission goes?
I don't mind some spoilers really, but not when people starts to tell how it begin or how it ends...that's not right, not even under the excuse of "well, bioware released it", since you all know that they didn't released the demo for PC and PS3.
Empathy, for above all...I don't know if I'm asking too much.

I'm just going into PC elitist mode for such moments - remembering all strong points of playing on PC. It helps so far.

so true. Remembering that I can make a shep with glowing green skin, crazy hair, or weird armor colors that don't belong in game is like licking my wounds.

Game developers don't like PC players. They think we're all pirates. I bought all my games, but I have to suffer because a few people are  ****s.

My growing philosphy with navigating information on a message board is like being in a resteraunt. Everyone talks like they're in a private room even though everyone can hear eachother. I'm mindful of that. But also, people can pick and choose what they listen to and what they tune out. That's the thing I choose to focus on. Like anything its a skill and some people are better at it than others. I'm just one of those people who is intrigued by comments and asides that stick out and I reply to those.

I was going to add too that it's pretty clear that they cut a bunch of content out of the sections of the game featured in the demo. Especially in the Salarian base part. It's pretty obvious that the finished product will include more than what was included for the demo. I didn't find it too spoilery at all.

I'm sorry. I wish it were so for everyone. It seems terribly unfair to have stuff early for xbox and not PC/PS3....but who knows of the machinations of these companies?

Everyone will have demo/MP soon. :wizard:

Yes! Just one more day! :o  I'll be spending all night tomorrow creating Sheps and watching Kaidan over and over again.  :wizard:

My (former) way of dealing with spoilers is reading forum in reversed way - newer posts earlier, older posts later. Or, in BSN reality, starting from last page to first and from bottom of page to top. When someone posts spoiler, there are usually some "Aargh, spoiler!" posts afterwards, which serve as clear "get the hell out of here" sign.

Of course, this doesn't help if spoiler is in last post, but this still improve chances.

Bring on the spoilers I say, lol. I want to know everything about the plot, the characters, every aspect of the game to help me decide whether to get it or not. The only good thing about the fact that we don;t get it till the 8th of March is that there will already be a ton of vids on youtube by our release date, lol.

As for weddings I can;t say I'm pining to see my femSheps and Kaidan get married. I just fear that it will be far too cheesy. I'll be happy just to know they end up together, lol.

I'm leaning toward the stance that Bioware is so controlling and crafty with their releases that they know which parts they should leave out of view.

Having said that, I think we should clarify what a spoiler is. For some people a spoiler is gameplay, plot, or tone. I think talking about the tone of the beginning would be a mild spoiler for (some) people, because being shocked by something sad is the point-- or if someone says something funny. 90% of humor is context and being caught by surprise.

I don't think the missions in the demo are very spoilery. If you've seen them it's not much more than Long held theories coming into fruition. If you write a story about a famine leading up to a raid on a silo, reaching a farm where a silo would be kept is just a logical conclusion.

Learning about certain classes was slightly spoilery to me. But again, nothing game breaking. Tone was the biggest spoiler to me. And without giving it away, I think Bioware is 120% on the right track.

speaking of tomorrow, what time do you think we can expect the demo? i won't be able to focus on anything else till i get it anyway, so i'm planning to sleep as long as it takes ;>

edit: omniblade - huh, really? i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that the only class unable to use it will be adept. damn, that sucks :<

I have very bad luck avoiding spoilers...what's have been seen cannot be unseen...

Mostly its because spoilers are literally in front of my face....

I've been avoiding tumblr, and this thread (but unsuccessfully, because everytime that I come, I find something)
So, I might consider to auto exile myself till tomorrow....by the way, you would like me to tell you who's the "final" boss /probably? because I already saw that...and it burns me like the worst hell of rage....but I cannot unsee...:alien: Thanks people that have the artbook...thanks.

To get the demo now, you would need to have gotten your hands on a the
codes this weekend that granted a sneak preview of the 360 demo - that's
all there is until the demo goes public.

PC demo likely not online until tomorrow am sometime (PST)
360 could be as early as midnight PST
PS3
likely not until late afternoon tomorrow (I know, I know...but we don't
control their deployment timing on first party networks).

Oh totally.  I wouldn't talk about tone or dialogue here.  It's hard not to mention the Kaidan dialogue because...well...we're all a bit Kaidan crazy here, aren't we? I agree that we should cool it on the demo talk until people have had a chance to play tomorrow.  What might not be a significant spoiler for you might be for someone else.
If people have actually gotten their hands on the complete game already and you want to share, post a link to the video or resrict talk about to spoiler specific boards and PMs.

I really want to talk about Kaidan's lines and the treatment of the scenes in a spoiler free way. But my mind keeps going to specifics. Instead I'll say that a few days ago I replayed the very beginning of ME1. I was shocked at how different it is. I love ME1 and it's a beautiful cinematic experience. But I also think that the current state of Bioware has grown so much since then. They understand tone, mood and pacing so much better now. (ME1) There are kind of gaps and dead air, and overlong emotional beats that don't seem to be there any more. The camera style is more sophisticated too. The scene where Anderson, Shep and Nihlus are in the conference room is a good example of Bioware's cinematic style back then. Lots of A camera shot. B camera shot. Fairly static.

The artistic growth and confidence they have now is so impressive.
This is why a Mass Effect movie would be redundant. The Mass Effect series is already a movie.

edit: Speaking of cinematic experience, IMHO, the addition of Clint Mansell as composer is genius.

Spoiler. Mass Effect 3 cake is a lie!

I thought it contained a metal file to break out.

Also Spoiler Normandy crashes into an iceberg and Kaidan tosses the Heart of Space into the ocean planet.

Yes, but do we get to paint Kaidan like one of the french girls?

Was going to demand it so but someones beat me too it.

Though he is missing the heart of the ocean and is covered up, plus wasn't it done on a Cais long (no idea how to spell that, the seatee type things).

Also 2 other possible Spoilers.
Steamed up mako window scene in the cargo hold of the normandy.

And "I'll never let you go Shep" *Loses grip and shepard is spaced*

I really want a titanic parody are DLC now...am I sad?

I don't think the demo was spoilery at all but I sure don't want to know any more at all. I might exile myself from the forums eventhough I enjoy coming in here with all you fellow Kaidan lovers. It will be really hard to try and stay away from here.

On a lighter note, yesterday I put in the code for my renegade Shepard into the demo and I was surprised at how different she looks from ME2. What surprised me was that she ended up looking like a younger Diane Lane but with red hair. I'll try to do it again and post a picture so you can all see what I mean.
But I'm really liking this new CC because the cheekbones and big lips are not as pronounced as in ME2 so I won't have to restart the game over and over again just to get it right.
