and its canon that Tali crushes on Shepard who treated her like dirt in ME1 AND Me2, as long as he does her loyalty mission and picks few key frases correctly.
Most of my Sheps were nice to Tali. A couple, not so much. But that's not necessarily a deterrent in fiction OR real life. And in Tali's own words that's not what attracts him to her. It's the dramatic entrance where you save her from the setup. "Dashing stranger". Her words not mine. "Daring quest to save the universe." Shepard is written as charismatic, no matter what paragon or renegade level.
I beg to differ about that being good writing. Even if its bad writing, its an example of realistic writing. I've known girls who crush on renegades in secret. Not even charismatic renegades, necessarily.
it turns her from a spunky independant girl into immature doormat. it takes a character that normaly calls out Shepard on whatever bull Shepard throws at her and turns her into someone who thinks with her ovaries and goes for a jerk. it makes her into a character, that i cannot like, cannot romance
Kaidan is supposed to be a mature individual who deals with his issues, who doesn't need fixing, who doesn't take **** from anyone, including Shepard. turning him into Tali, will ruin his romance for me, regardless of sexual orientation, but with maleshep it will be even more jarring then femshep due to the fact that this individual who normaly cannot hide his feelings very well, somehow managed to hide them all through ME1.
if they write his romance as something thats fresh and new and based on fresh and new interactions on ME3 alone? no issues. but if they take his mild crush on femshep from ME1 (his feelings don't really develop fully untill right before Ilos anyways) and turn it into a full blown, Edwardlike crush on either Shepard? good bye Kaidan romance. but who cares what I like or don't like, right? i don't matter and most people who feel similarly to me - prefer to stay quiet, becasue they see the backlash I end up dealing with and don't want to deal with same.
