I never said otherwise.  You are having a different discussion to the one I'm having.  Were I to engage with your argument, I might point out that negative proof is far more difficult to establish than the positive kind, but honestly the point that you're trying to make isn't one that interests me.  Sorry.  I posted to express my feelings on this subject, not to win this particular argument.  Of course, I'm still trying to be as coherent and make as much sense as possible, but the whole form of what I'm about is more along the lines of "do you understand why I'd feel this way?" rather than "X must be the case!"

Not import into demo or new game?

I just went into the thread Priestly started about not importing the save and he said the new game. He said to play your first time without importing any of your saves and play the default they give you. Then go and play the game again but with an imported save so that you can see the differences your choices make in the story.

I will just do the reverse. I will import my faithful to Kaidan Shepard, then my Thane Shep, and then my Garrus Shep, and then my maleShep, and finally maybe play a default game. We already know there will be differences of course. I guess he just meant that the experience was better for him that way, but for me it would ruin the story to see the default game choices first.

The cologn kinda gives it away, I guess.

I could picture Joker doing something like that too. Shep needs to work on his trolling technique.

Woah, I'm so confused about this facebook/multiplayer thingy?

Recruit people? how do they know? How do I recruit? is it just automatic, like if I send them the link and they apply...if they are on my list it will update?

I'd take a bet (if you're on PC) that it'll be through Origin - there's a Facebook linky thing in that in game.

Ugh I was just thinking, what happens if bioware do a terrible, Harry potter like epilogue. Where Shep marries his LI and live happily ever after, calling his kids after people who died.

'You are named after the cow Ashley, Kaidan insisted, blame him'

I don't think we'll hear anything about horrible child names, but didn't Bioware do something like this with Dragon Age Origins and Awakening? Some kind of written epilogue that explained what happened to the major characters. It wasn't so bad.

I can see it now.
"Ashley Rachni Queen Miranda Kirrahe (of course subjective to your casualties) Shepard-Alenko," said Shepard. "One of the best people I know was in Cereberus, and you're named for them."

But Jade Empire had a fantastic epilogue, I thought!

Seems a bit "complicated" and actually after reading the thread, more like mission improbable.
The recruits MUST have played the demo, must link their origin account...yada yada..
If it were just a matter of them accepting or whatever I might have a shot. lol

I never had any problem with S/S romances being included in the game, but I have to admit to being a little bothered by the decision to make Kaidan bi. I don't even think he was ever meant to be bi in the first game, they just recorded all the same options in the VA studios to save time during the recording process, and that's why the files were in there (speculative). If he'd been bi in the first game, I wouldn't have even cared. But he's BioWare's character, they can do what they like.

The thing is, I like Kaidan, having romanced him as FemShep, and bromanced him with MShep every time I didn't save Ashley. But I'd be irritated if the game took me being friendly to assume I was hitting on him. That said, I'm confident that ME3 will probably have a more advanced flagging and conversation system this time, so that shouldn't happen. On the off chance that it does, I'd like to have any romance initiation be on Shepard's part, that'd solve the issues with ninja-mancing.

For example:
Kaidan:You're a good friend Shepard.

Romance Option: I'd like to be more than friends.
Friendship Option: Same to you Alenko.

Clearly marked, no mistake possible, two separate character arcs that allow everyone to enjoy Kaidan their own way, without missing out on content. I have faith in BioWare, so I'll simply say how awesome the demo is and how much I'm looking forward to the game.

EDIT: To be clear, I've got nothing against the S/S crowd, and I'm happy that you're getting the most out of the game. I just don't want to lose Bro!Kaidan.

I've gotten complaints of a few inappropriate images being posted to this thread, and have found two of them that I've had to remove. So this is a reminder that this forum (and thread) is rated PG, not PG-13 or M. This means we will not tolerate images or links containing explicit male or female nudity. Images of sex toys are similarly forbidden.

Secondly, please note that quoting such material is nearly as bad as posting it in the first place, as the offending image appears in a post you made and Moderators have to clean up yet another post. Let's please keep these things in mind when discussing Kaidan in this thread. Sharing it in private is one thing, posting it publicly on the forum is quite another thing entirely.

Thank you.

Image IPB  Is this Bioware's way of trying to bring in new players to the franchise? Or convince old players that starting a new game is the way to go?

I'm with you. I'm definitely importing my Sheps first and then maybe later on start a new game.

Eh not to be spoilery but there shouldn't be any worries on that front. Most of the romance initation seems OBVIOUS ROMANCE CHOICE IS OBVIOUS. And thank god for that because Ashley's ninjaing pissed me the hell off.

Ah ninjamancing. It's not fun in real life and it isn't fun in game. It's good to know that people won't have to worry about that in ME3. :)

Oh Kaidan. Prepare to be assaulted by my romancing ways. My femshep will be sporting the rose in her mouth. She comes prepared.

Mostly, I am refuting your argument that there would be an uproar in such a situation since it would include "converting" characters - but that would still have nothing to do with this case since Kaidan never states he is only interested in women. Thus, he has not been "converted" into a bisexual. Same goes for a m/m option who never explicitly says they're only interested in men.
In other words, I was replying from the point of view of one of the m/m-ers.
That said, I was not attacking you, nor do I think you don't have the right to feel the way you do about this particular matter, even if it is "incorrect".

Looking forward to this! It seems like every single Bioware game tries to Ninjamance me, from Leliana to Jacob. Which makes for super awkward situations. I'm excited to see the friendship paths BW mentioned for ME3 instead of romance or zip.

I've just been reading some of the replies here and realised I missed something (again): K has been confirmed as a s/s romance, yes?  Good news.  Well I think so anyway.  Now my friend over in SF will not **** the way he did about Alistair and we can share the squeeing over  the Kaidan-love in our rhapsodies about the game in general.  March gets better and better (if not much closer).

I agree that the feeling is irrational, but feelings are like that sometimes. People who feel this way will lose nothing (and it's almost impossible to think it would ever be hinted at in a game with female Shepard, even if he really does become an option for male Shepard), but actuality isn't always the loudest voice when it comes to emotions.

You're trying to fight emotion with logic. Stop it. :-)

I never understood ninjamancing. I guess after a few Bioware games it gets easier to pick up threads of a beginning romance. No disrespect to Bioware meant by that, it just becomes easier.

Alistair was the perfect man, too, so him ninjamancing doesn't matter.

You would not find it politically incorrect for a character who had previously only shown romantic interest in characters of the same sex to be written later on as showing interest in both sexes, and neither would Isaac.  Since I haven't noticed anyone else commenting on the subject, it gives a 100% contrary response to the feeling I would have expected, so, even if a sample size of two is quite small, it's still quite an interesting result!

You are not refuting any argument, since, as I said, I wasn't making one, only describing my feeling.  Nonetheless, given the above results, you are entitled to describe my feeling as incorrect, or, at least, as inaccurate.  :D

This one understands!  ;)  Not that, by agreeing with "stop it," I'm saying "stop posting" or anything, but certain parameters do need to be agreed upon to have a constructive debate, and our parameters here are quite different.  Not that it turned out so badly, in the end...  :)

Oh, Leliana. Now THAT was some epic ninjamancing. I think the thing that tips the meter from friendship to love is asking her if she's okay after her former partner dies.

I'e been playing BW games since KOTOR and they still ninja me every single time. What happened to being able to just talk to a guy/girl in friendship? Hell even when I insult them they still keep coming.

LOL that's exactly what my poor PCs feel like.

@dirae : Leliana has (or had I forgot if they fixed it in the vanilla game) a bug where after her mission with Marjoline pretty much every single choice triggered her romance. Rage inducing. Thank you mods! Got that fixed at least.

But isn't there a difference between ninja and simple interest?

A character like Leliana could ninja you because of some ugly bugs in her dialogue, but otherwise was she really treating you as if you had already expressed interest in her simply by talking? Alistair could like you, but isn't it always clear that you go this way for romance and that way for friendship?

Jade Empire and Mass Effect are ninjamancing because you're in the romance by default. You have to tell them to step off to get out of it, instead of having it actually be mutual to enter into it.

To me, the latter is inexcusable (stay away from me!). But there's nothing wrong with a character letting you know that your SEX ME NOW! spay is working, and whether they're the intended target or not (as long as you have the option to say that it was definitely not meant for them).
