Headset very much optional - I've played several rounds now and haven't talked to anyone. You get into a flow after a couple of waves and work out how to play together. I keep mixing things up and swapping out which class I play as after each session - helps level them up equally and makes things more flexible if you end up in the lobby with a couple of adept or soldier to choose a different class to balance out the squad Not yet unlocked a different race to play as, but it was fantastic when I had a round with one guy as a Krogan soldier. I notice that the female troopers sound like they have Jennifer Hale's voice - I haven't tried a male sentinel yet (not unlocked for me yet) - if male sentinels sound like Kaidan then that would be awesome

 Announcement: I've officially given up on trying to stay current with you guys >.< Everyday I get more and more behind, so I'm just skipping to the front of the line here.

Being home sick yesterday was soooo much fun, and the demo was incredible.  I have been playing other games for a while now so it took a bit to get used to it, but it was fun. However I have some observations....

1. I'm not a fan of the new "default" Shep, I think her faces is a little too *bloaty* for me.  I wanted to try out that hair cut on a custom shep (since I change hair styling every game) but it wasn't an option. So, is that just how it is, or will it be unlocked later?

2. Graphics, looked splotchy and pixly in the background for a lot of the opening scene shots - is it just me or do you guys see it too.  I have to be honest it was driving me nuts.

3. I certainly hope that I get to select my squad mates for all my missions, I really don't want Liara locked in for me like she was on the salarian base. Kaidan wants to save the aliens just as much as I do. =)

I haven't played on MP yet, but I saw a lot of you online playing yesterday, hope you're enjoying it! I for one reloaded a new start from my cannon shep and started ME again.  I've got time....my hubby pre-ordererd ME3 for me last summer as a surprise, and we just found out its being shipped economy *2 weeks* - so I'm a little sad about that.  On the bright side I got to bump my vacation days back 2 weeks, and I'll be able to pick up tips from ya'll.

I've read that the full game will have more conversation options in the beginning and I'm really hoping at least one of them is to say something more to Kaidan!! But I guess I really won't be surprised if it is not an option to speak to him until you get on the Normandy.

I'm running through ME1 right now and just killed Wrex for the first time. *sadface* Well, actually Ashley killed him. She's hardcore. I'm a little scared of her now. Well, she's not long for this world anyways. Sorry, Ash, I just can't nuke Kaidan.

i agree with you - it looks very strange. the first custom femshep is quite good looking with a little tweaking though. i'm not sure about the hairstyle but going by DA2 we won't be able to use it - unless you have a pc and a mod. i could be wrong however

afro is still my favourite!

I was thinking of doing another runthrough of ME1 to have a single Shep for Vega, but I think I'm gonna have a hard time resisting Kaidan. I was thinking of leaving him on Virmire just to have at least one save with Ash in it, but it's going to be so hard to do that.  I decided I'm going to wait until ME3 comes out and just start a new Shep from there. That way I'll be able to avoid the Kaidan romance from ME1, skip through all the recruitment/loyalty missions from ME2, and go straight into ME3. I'm hoping they'll offer a Genesis-type of comic where I can make the decisions from ME1 and 2.

Of course, once ME3 comes out, I'm sending in my Kaidan loyal tester Shepard in first to check out the gameplay and conversation options. My canon is a paragade that wants to be mean to Kaidan at first, and I want to make sure that blowing him off in the beginning won't impact the rest of the relationship. So, tester Shep first and then canon, lol. After those two runthroughs, I'll make a Vega Shep.

See,Priestly's suggesstion has merit.  I mean, I'm sure I'll still romance Kaidan with a brand new fresh Shep, but it's really not a terrible idea.

It'strue.  You are.  It might help if I don't drink three glasses of wine while under assault though.  Or then again, maybe I just didn't have enough alcohol.  I can't wait to get back at it.  I have a Turian Sentinel now and I have big plans to unlock a Krogan so I can name it RonSwanson.
