Like most people, I wanted both of them to live. But I think the beauty of Virmire is the emotional impact of death there. I remember how I felt the first time I played it. I felt so bad for leaving Ash, but that was part of it I think.


Definitely.  It is one of the most memorable parts of the series to date.  If they were to have a Mass Effect 1 Redux though, that might be an interesting option.

I'm oddly glad they didn't have this option. When playing ME2 for the first time ever (I was blissfully unspoiled of the game, save for the part where Shep'd die in the beginning) I assumed that you would lose a crew member no matter what, because BioWare weren't afraid to go there in the first game. I was also sleepdeprived having finished the game 72 hrs after it dropped in my mailbox and wasn't really paying attention in the end.

Also, because you had to choose whom to save, the line "I regret nothing." has so much more impact on me.

oh you guys... :( well, I'm sad that they didn't keep it in game, becasue virmire only made me agonize and be sad twice. first time I did it, and first time I left Kaidan behind. every single playthrough after that was metagaming annoyance. becasue the whole situation is just ridiculously contrived and completely unnecessary. but that's just my opinion >_> not a fan of drama for the sake of drama, sorry.

@ Kia, I could try to transcribe it for you, if you want?

Man that was a ton of fun, guys! Just finishing up my dinner but I'll rejoin the fight. I am keeping myself firm on not reading that leaked script. I want to know but then I want to be surprised ;o;. The ever internal battle to just take a little peek! Currently winning the battle. :3

The music in the whole intro was really getting me going. Then when the camera pans to aerial and planet view I had a hard not going :crying:.... 

I was like great! Not even 10 minutes in the game and I'm tearing up!


Did anyone else notice when the reaper shot down those transports the scream in the music.. i just watched it again with it REALLY loud.. and zomg.. so heartbreaking!!

Wonder if Shepard will have some sort of emotional breakdown in ME3 and maybe Kaidens there to help her out if ya know what i mean *waggles eyebrows*

Wow, that's exactly what I always wished for....:? Ah well. Gotta force that emotional reaction somehow, I guess.

No MP for me today. Honestly, I'm getting slightly burned out on the same two maps over and over, and even the same enemies. Plus, since nothing carries over to the real MP, I'll be doing it all again anyway. It's still fun with buddies though. ;)

Eighteen  more days until midnight release and Kaidan. :wizard:

Try the quick match if there's no room in friends' games. You'll play with strangers but it's better than nothing.

When you said "removed this option" I started to panic... but wooow, seriously?! I'm... actually glad this didn't happen! But on the same token, I wonder how the rest of Shepard's story would've player out if that did happen... Horizon would have been so different.

Oh, by the way guys.... HAIIIII!!! I'm new! :D After lurking since ME2 I finally want to participate on the forum, lol.

I played MP for 20 minutes and died mercilessly over and over (twice).
I think I even killed one of my squadmates by accident. Eeep.

Everyone around me was like....over level 10... One was in the 20's...I was like the only low level player. WTH.

:( I'm scared to turn my xbox on again. lol
