This is what Mike Gamble said on twitter, "you mean there wasn't a happy ending. You mean that there wasn't enough variety in the endings in terms of large outcome"
Again Mind = Blown!

An exercise in deliberately missing the point, perhaps? Sheesh. I mean, yeah, if you're going to boil down all the objections it does look something like "The endings are bleak and lack variety," but the underlying problem is in the execution. I think it certainly would have been possible to write bleak endings that nevertheless brought closure to the game for both the narrative and the player. These endings do neither
.
Of course, holding the conversation on Twitter strikes me as trying to stack the deck in the first place. You'd like me to explain everything wrong with these endings in fewer than 140 characters? There are full-length essays on this topic, so why demand soundbites instead? I don't get it. But obviously
close textual analysis is kind of in my job description.
But back to Kaidan. Maybe the thread has covered this already, but in the love scene if you've been romancing him since ME1 did anybody just about die laughing at his facial animations when he said, "I was pretty spectacular if I remember correctly"? It was like Evil KaidEn was suddenly on the ship!

I have to admit, that kinda killed the mood for me.
