Fallout 3 got a DLC that rewrote the ending which I believe is a first.

David Gaider wrote the Ascension mod (with help from other modders) for Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal, which added more dialogue and better endings, and that was back in 2002, I think.

It wasn't an official release by Bioware, but it was totally cool of him to do.

Seriously?  They scaned in faces for two characters, but using an online stock photo face pisses you off?  How is it any different?  Sheploo, Samara?  Come on.

Actually there is a serious difference. Most people know this.

Scanning isn't easy nor is it simple. Using a random photo off the web is lazy and could be considered plagiarism. Gaming companies don't do this! And if they do, at least they don't make it so obvious that anyone could find it within a complete of seconds on google.

But I'll stop there because there is a lot to say on this topic.


EDIT: And I think what makes it worse is the rest of the photoshop stuff they did like the winter on mars thing.

True. I am not sure if its a stock photo but if its from Getty then it is.

I still find it to be lazy and well...bad. It wasn't that good of a photoshop. And I honestly thought Bioware was better than this. Oh well.

Only ttwo other games made me cry like this heh - DA:O, because of the friendships/ relationships built up over the game and Final Fantasy X - for pretty much the same reason.
I played fallout3, didn't phase me either because you were just a faceless killing machine / hero - felt the same as you yoshibb.
Final Fantasy 10 - ended somewhat like this. Your guy pretty much said goodbye and you figured that was it.
But they made a sequel... and if you worked really hard... which wasnt easy... and got 100% completion on a game. You got the good ending to 10-2... where you got a nice cut-scene at the end with them being reunited.
I wish bioware had gone that route. Even if they had made us work really damn hard for it, over a few playthroughs if needed... I would have been happy.

I just don't understand why a game has to be designed to make us feel so bad.. I mean its meant to be fun.. make us happy... escape for reality.. If I wanted to be an emotional wreck Id watch a sad movie >.>

I just did the date scene.. all I can say is AWWWWW

No, you need to be able to convince TIM not to kill Anderson, and you need an EMS of at least 4,000 I think. I couldn't get my EMS high enough to attempt it with just SP, so I'm having to do MP to have a chance. But, I got really close. However, there were some things my Shep wasn't able to do. I couldn't broker a Geth/Quarian peace, and I had two bugged quests on the Citadel that I couldn't finish.

Had I been able to do those two things, I might have been able to pull it off without needing MP. And, I don't need a lot of MP. I've only run about four or five matches and I'm just under my target. I'm thinking that if I get lucky and win a couple more bronze matches, I'll be good to try the ending.

How do you convince him not to? I did full paragon and choose all paragon options and Anderson was shot and then passed out right before the Catalyst showed up.

Well, you don't save him save him. It's just that TIM can be much more brutal than he is if you convince him not to or stop him or something. If you have time to talk to Anderson one last time as he is mortally wounded, then you did it as I understand it.

Ah, well...any hope we will get better endings? What do you guys think? Is this it? Done? See ya? Or is there any possible way they will try and add some DLC?

I'm considering it done.  Mostly because the devs seem completely unperturbed by the fact that most people were monumentally disapointed by the endings. 

I know...this is my worry to.  There is no PR damage control going on...so its like they are saying...meh...live with it.  And I suppose I will...right up till that ending...then I'll just have to write my own ending.

Hi everyone!  After seeing all the, for lack of a better term, disapproval in the endings for Mass Effect 3, I've been scouring the forums just fact finding.  I believe the devs tried to make the ending final...in that they no longer wish to use Commander Shepard in story arcs past this one.  I get that.  However, I think that there could have been a happier ending for Shepard and his/her LI without enraging the player.  This said, I found a poll listed under the blogs that I found to be fascinating. 

If you, indeed, wish for a better ending, or "happier" ending, I think you need to check out this link to his poll:

If this is possible, I think we should let the devs know how we feel.  I, myself, think the writing was great for this final chapter in Commander Shepard's story....just was quite stunned at the ending I got in my first playthrough, and I didn't import one of my characters.  I played PC sp game from start, and the ending I got was....I don't even have words for how I felt.

So, check this out and see if this might be an option.  It isn't too far-fetched, and would be a better ending than the current ones maybe.

Yup.  I noticed that too.  He dies exactly like Saren did if you take the Paragon options.  I tried that out once during my exploration of the endings.  I learned my Shep likes to shoot him instead - his last words are profoundly human.
I'm a fan of Saren as an antagonist due to his moral ambiguity so this similarity doesn't bother me one bit.  The endings on the other hand...

edit:  And thank you Batteries for the link.  I haven't been able to find the femshep version and those animations are great.  ME3 Kaidan is beautiful. *sighs*

I think they were trying to do a full circle thing by making the end somewhat similar to Saren's. I thought TIM was interesting in 2 and while I didn't read his comic(?) I heard a little bit which makes him more understandable even if not forgiveable
