The ending felt like I was smoking some really, really strong drugs. The whole thing is bizzare. How did Anderson end up in the same damn place? So the people I had with me just magically made it out while a big bright white light beamed me up to the middle of nowhere with dead bodies and keepers. It's just like a really bad, strange, not explain anything sort of ending! Were the writers smoking something? What the hell!! Where is the logic behind any of this?

In Mass effect 1 and 2 I had these overwhelming feelings of joy as they ended. As Sovereign and the collector base exploded I felt these chills go through me as I saw the Normandy soaring off. I was building the same high in Mass Effect 3 except I was sobbing and laughing along with it. Then the ending happened and I just sat there with this 'wtf?' look on my face.

Yeah, it was bad enough that I feel pretty hollow and I slept about 3 hours. I know I'm going to play again because I enjoy the rest of the game enough, but at this point, it'll be a cold day in hell before I spend money on DLC or anything else from new from BioWare unless this is all one giant troll and I get a proper ending that makes me feel a sense of satis faction. Shep doesn't have to live or get the guy, but I do need something with closure that doesn't involve creepy Gawd Children and false choices.

Agreed! There are so many brilliant moments throughout ME3, but feel totally underwhelmed by the end. Clearly just wanted a fluffy, huggy, happy ending.. Not at all in keeping with the game I know, but our Sheps deserve it!

I'm personally clinging to the indoctrination-illusion theory, simply to keep myself able to actually do something productive and not spiral down into the shocked denial that I went through last night. That and replaying the romance scenes for Kaidan. Just me who found Shep's "dat ass" moment hilarious?

you know i didnt even want the Disney ending.. but srsly ffs.. something other then this.. it feels like everything after that run for the beam was taken by some crazy russian travelling circus who decided to write code for a game over their summer carny break...

it just makes no freakin sense!!

Like I mean.. if Shepard hadve just popped her head out after Kaidan and Garrus and Joker on the Normandy at the end there.. I wouldve been fine.. cause at least they were together!

Got the game a couple of days ago and haven't got too far with it yet - maybe a third in?  I eventually caved in and read about the endings because the pre-release discussions here were killing me and I couldn't decide whether I should just give up on the game before I started.  I was reasonably reassured that the vast majority of it is excellent - and that's my experience so far - but the endings sound really poorly thought through and simplistic (I mean, don't we all have a good enough grasp of the singularity thing already?  From what I've read, the explanation sounds patronising).  And the nihilism too.  Tbh, it sounds like they were channeling some emo teen when they wrote it: "it's all so sad and tragic and beeeeeautiful."  Gah.  I've read some people saying it's 'mature'.  Mature, my arse.  What sort of adult wants to wallow in something like that?

My biggest gripe so far is the kid.  I HATE that kid.  I don't want to follow him in the dream sequences and would, if given the option, have preferred to have shot the little bugger in the air ducts back on earth.  My dislike of this is not objecting to kids in general (or the concept of kids) but just that that is such a tired old trope.  B-o-r-i-n-g.

Anyway, apart from that, I'm liking the game.  Love lots of things about it.  I love Kaidan, I love Garrus, I even quite like Liara (I never really was a big fan though I liked her better in LotSB) and I REALLY like what they did with the Protheans - yes, that was an excellent move.   So, I have decided to play while it's fun and just stop before I reach the end.  I can see I will play it once and then move on.  Looks like I will be able to finish The Witcher 2 after all instead of playing this till Christmas.  Ah well.

My advice - turn it off after Hackett calls at the end and asks Shep to do one more thing for him and she passes out. That's when it all really turns into la, la land. That way, you get to see the scene between Shep and Anderson which is also really good and a fitting tribute to Anderson and their relationship.

Yeah, I could just "hear" her thinking "oh, yeah!!!" It's one more reason why I think they picked up their physical relationship far sooner than the actual love scene. I just think we got the love scene we did because it's the one with the impending sense of doom and the one where Shep can finally actually drop those three little words - I love you.

I found it double-hilarious due to the fact that I, when Kaidan first starts turning around and the camera is at that low "Miranda"-angle to show Shepard, I pretty much went "ooh, that ass" myself (It was three in the morning), only to have Shepard have that sort of moment herself a second later. :D
And yeah, judging from this conversation (paraphrasing from my memory here):

Kaidan: You didn't wake me up when you left.
Shepard: I didn't have the heart to,
Kaidan: Yeah well, heh, next time... wake me up.

I assumed that they did spend some nights together before that romance scene. That and the fact that (my Shep at least) was pretty much "oooh, we should get back to the Normandy ASAP" when they rekindled their relationship over that dinner. I assumed she wasn't in a hurry to feed her fish.

I'm still on my first play through. I keep backing up. Just because I don't want to do the end.I guess I will eventually but I'm not looking forward to it unlike the 2 previous ME games. I was so excited that the game was finally coming out. I feel BW really let us down.My excitement turned into dred after finding out about the endings. The game is great so far I'm just avoiing the end for now. I pray the devs take this as serious as the fans do. We deserve better Shep deserves better. Btw Kaidan scenes are awesome!

Hey all! I finished Mass Effect 3 last night.....WAAAAAAAAAAH!! Posted Image I swear I was so sad and shocked that I couldn't cry, I just collapsed and didn't move for a long time....The ending I got, so sad in so many ways Posted Image, at least Kaidan lived....but still....Posted Image. I've already started my second playthrough, and I need some help!!! How do I get the best possible ending? I am aware it's still depressing, but never-the-less, I would like to get it and am having trouble figuring out how...pwetty please? Posted Image

Oh, and the romance scenes with Kaidan in the game.....Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image Best part of the game!!!!! Posted ImagePosted ImageBioware did a really good job with them I think, and the little moments Kaidan and my Shepard had....caused much sighing and swooning, and at times tears, on my endPosted Image...And when that short little shot that focused on Kaidans butt came up...I think I did a wolf whistle, whilst raising my eyebrow, most excellent indeed xD Posted ImagePosted Image

Well been spoiled before the release that the ending's gonna suck... *puts up spoiler immunity cloak*, game is amazing so far though. But just a quick question here from somebody still trying to complete her first playthrough... So I just finished the Udina coup mission... And do I have to restart Kaidan's romance even if Shep had already romanced him in ME1? Or is it already "locked in"? The first dialogue from him when he just got back to the Normandy is not so clear on this aspect, he just talked about his parents? Is there any special dialogues I have to watch out for in the future and after which missions? And how many actual dialogues do I need to have before he asked Shep to go to the Apollo Cafe?
Asking because Samantha wants to play chess with Shep but there's the option to shower together , don't want to get ninjamanced by her (even though she's awesome)... and also by the one that I want to avoid at ALL COSTS - Diana (gosh I need to PUKE so bad when she tried to hit on Shep... such terrible voice acting ). I think I should just kick her off the ship, war assets or not.

Also there's actually a nice extra dialogue at the beginning if you bring Kaidan when playing From Ashes, thought it will somehow play at DAO Return to Ostagar (so I waited til I got him back). Since Kaidan was there from the beginning, nice to see that the game shows how much crap they had been through together.

Well, for me after the Udina coup mission. After we went back to the Normandy, and had that conversation. The next time I went to the Citadel, regardless of whether I did a mission or not, Kaidan was in the Cafe (I didn't wait for him to ask me). And when I walked over to talk to him...so proceeded the "date" scene, in it it's pretty clear which options will rekindle a romance (I haven't played an un-kaidan-romanced Shep yet, but I'm pretty sure this is the definitive romance point for Kaidan either way). If you pick the right ones, the romance will be locked in and you'll get the paramour achievement Posted ImagePosted Image

Every single conversation I had with Kaidan, from the time he was injured on mars and concious, he hinted at loving her and wanting to rekindle their romance.. like subtle but was definitely there in the subtext...
If you are at the part where you're being asked to do 'fun' things with your crew but the email isnt there from Kaidan to go have dinner.. go do one more side quest away from the citadel, when its over, there should be a mail from him saying lets have dinner, and there will be the option to rekindle their romance at dinner

then once youve established with him you want a romance.. all other convo's with potential ninjamancers end up being as 'friends' rather then hinting that they want something with you..

I too got the scene where showering with her was an option and i freaked out and reloaded, did a mission, bailed up Joni from the forums asking her WTF.. then got the email lol

Oh God, I just finished the game for the first time a few minutes ago. I'd known about the endings for a couple of weeks now and I wasn't as bothered as I thought I would be (not because they're not atrocious, but because I'm kinda numb).

Anyway, the worst part of the whole final mission? That good-bye conversation with Kaidan. I cried like a baby. Couldn't even take screenshots.... and I'm not going to replay that just to take pics. No way. Not unless I know there's a happy ending for those two! But that scene was actually really well done. I was impressed.

I need ice-cream.

So has anyone who imported a Mass Effect 2 save where she has her Prejek Paddle Fish still alive and she keeps it alive through her first time through mass Effect 3 and then on the NG+of Mass Effect 3 she is suppose to visit Liara's quarters aboard the Normandy for a very special intel bonus. What happens to the endings?

The Witcher 2 has a fantastic ending, and they managed to do it without rainbows and sunshine or writing off all the characters.
