He says, "You are bonded with the human male" or something like that.  And Shep says, "You could say that." And Javik says, "I didn't. Your phermones did."

So, today's my birthday.

I beat Mass Effect 3 at about 2:30 in the morning.

...and I've had all day to mope and sigh and grumble and rage about the ending.

Yay.

The Kaidan scenes were beautiful, though, and I'm very happy I remembered to record the love scene and the goodbye scenes for rewatching and more sighing.

Happy Birthday! :wizard:

Who else cried when Anderson said, "...you did good child," ?

OMG me!!! i was so upset! Anderson was like a father to my Shepard!

Yeah, me too.  That was one of the best moments of the series.  The other times I teared up were, (1) when I thought Grunt was going to die, (2) Kaidan's goodbye (I can't lose you again), (3) Garrus' goodbye, and (4) during the destruction of the relays.

Let's see, I cried when... (1) Thane died, and Kolyat and Shepard read off the final prayer, and then Kolyat revealed that Thane had written that for Shepard, not himself. (2) Mordin's death in the tower, as he's happily singing and then suddenly- (3) The dream with Ashley's voice, Ash's death hurt more than anyone's sans Shep's in ME3 (when I accidentally clicked the wrong color) so that really hit home. (4) When Liara brought up her project and asked Shep what to put in Shep's profile. I let her choose what to put, and her response really got me. (5) Kaidan's last moments with Shep before the final mission in London. (6) Garrus' "If Heaven has a bar, I'll meet you there, drinks are on me," and the options to respond... Heck, looking back, every single dialogue option where you can choose "We're going to make it out of this," just leaves a hole in my heart. (7) Shepard's final speech to the squad. (8) Being shot by Harby, at which point I assumed Kaidan and Liara (my squad mates on the mission with me) were dead because they didn't come with me onto the Citadel, and finally (8) The entire ending sequence plus three and a half hours afterwards. Oh, and every time I stop to think that Shepard, my Shepard, is really a goner and will never have her happy ending. The reality hits hard, these people weren't just video game characters... They were my friends, my close companions. I didn't just play as Shepard, I played Shepard as an extension of myself, everything she felt was how I felt. If that makes any sense.

But hey, I'm a 17 year old female. I'm allowed to bawl my eyes out for hours on end.

So now im furious! Does anyone remember what Bioware said right b4 ME3 came out! They obviously lied right through their teeth!

"This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different."

"There are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t sayany more than that…"

"I honestly think the player base is going to be really happy with the way we've done it. You had a part in it. Every decision you've made will impact how things go. The player's also the architect of what happens."

"The third story is where you try and bring some fun and lightness back into it."

They DO wrap up all the stories from ME1 to ME3. However, the ending introduces a ton of new questions.

I just went through some of the romances, Tali, Ash, Kaidan....

To me Ash/Kaidan are the most emotional by far, and we see that Shep's been through hell...

Do not.... understand....endings!

Why put such care into these love scenes.. then brutally rip Shep away from Tali/Kaidan/Ash/Jack....

Can't imagine what Thanemancers are doing...

As a Thanemancer, I think alot of us already knew things weren't looking good from the beginning.  He makes no secret that he's dying, mentions it several times.  You even have the option to break up with him because you can't love a dying man.  I suspected things weren't gonna end well, which is why I decided to do my Kaidan play through first (ah Kaidan, how I love you).  Spoiler:

At least Thane got to go out like a boss.  And his scene and everything is very sweet and emotional.  I think there is alot more closure with him than the characters that are with you till the end, because you know exactly what happened to him and got to say goodbye and all.

No, anyways, all those tweets are true... if you cut off the endings to the game.

Ok I am obviously an idiot. I wanted to pick the destroy option. So I thought I would just run toward the beam thing and it would give me the different options, but Shepard just jumped in and I got the synthesis ending. What did I do wrong and how do I pick destroy?

Haha, that was me the first time. I went to the left, and only when I couldn't move did I see that it was the "Control" option.
The game makes a save for you right before the Citadel, just load that. The option you want is the Red one, on the right.

Now that I've finished the game, I am definitely buying into the whole hallucination/indoctrination theory. Why is Shepard suddenly wearing different armor? And why does Coats say that no one made it to the beam? I'm thinking Bioware has something up their sleeve... at least I hope so!

Ahh people quick question again (yeah sorry but I just want to finish a completionist playthrough as I don't think I will be playing a 2nd playthrough so I don't want to miss anything).

So how many actual dialogues do you have with companions in the Normandy? I mean like actual dialogues, with dialogue wheel and all not Zaeed-style dialogues. I just finished Citadel 2 and so far I've gotten only like 1 actual dialogue with everybody. I'm at the part where everybody emailed and wants to "hang out" with Shepard. How many more scenes am I expecting with everybody else? And how many more with an imported romanced Kaidan? And if possible after which missions will the dialogues trigger?

Also If I get Shep to "confirm" her relationship with Kaidan at the Apollo cafe, I should be good right? No more possibility of ninjamance? The lack of real dialogue scares me a lot because I can't "check" the LI status. The option to shower with Sam disappeared after that but freaking Diana is still trying to ninjamance Shep with her terrible pick up lines (screw her lol, even Liara got the memo a few years ago).

So, if s/he never made it to the beam, how are the reapers stopped?  I don't quite get the indoctrination theory.

Blah blah blah entitlement yada yada they just don't understand our vision etc etc etc we're totally right.

I'll be interested to see the rationalizations of this ending; hopefully it'll be more than "nyah nyah, we're right and you're wrong." I'm a George RR Martin fan and a registered nurse - I don't expect rainbows, damn it. But give me an ending that I don't feel like I need to suck on paint chips prior to playing to appreciate.

Actually no, I take that back. Let people have their happy endings. You set a precedent, not only with the first two Mass Effect games (a precedent of hope), but with a little known game called Dragon Age: Origins. If people wanted their emo Linkin Park endings to prove how cultured and mature they are, they could have them. If people wanted to be the hero, or the villain, they could. If they wanted to marry the goddamn king, save the country, score a wicked killing blow on the dragon, and name their dog Dino, they could do it! Why not here? Hell, you started it!

I don't think they were stopped. Once you get to the beam, the rest of the game seemed kind of fake to me. Like it wasn't really happening. I think Shepard is imagining it.
