And then the ending happens. And they step out of the Normandy like nothing has happened and I don't know what's happening and then this stupid grandfather comes up on some stock photo and then it says I'm a legend and it tells me to buy DLC and AAARRJDDAPIFSD{J
That's just it though. I'm replaying now and I'm not so sure that they do. I'm noticing little thing this time. One of the things I'm noticing is how many characters are referencing settling down somewhere tropical with beaches and seashores when all this is over.
Mordin just did it in the Normandy sick bay.
I remember Garrus doing it.
I'm going to try to keep track of how many others might mention it. If the theme is strong enough, it might lend credence to the idea that the end isn't real but a hallucination/dream, a projection of what Shep wants to believe instead of what really happens. If enough of her comrades talk about it, maybe the groundwork is there for her to hallucinate them all crash landing somewhere safe and out of reach and a tropical paradise.
Because we can all agree that what we see happending to the Normandy makes no sense at all.
Also, has anyone else compared the differences in points on deciding to save the Rachni Queen on Aralakh's body count or sacrificing her? I sacrificed her on my first playthrough because I thought I'd lose Grunt. I saved her this time around and noticed that she gives me 100 pts, and I get 75 pts in the Krogan column (Grunt + Aralakh). I'm wondering (without having to load up my other game to look) what the difference in pts for sacrificing her is. I'll bet the boost to Aralakh's numbers doesn't cover that missing 100 pts.
