Garrus and romance him as FemSheps (if they're not having a lesbian
action). Sure, Garrus has some female fans too, but the biggest female
(and gay) fanbase belongs to Kaidan. And even with the help of straight
guys, Garrus is waaaaay behind Kaidan:

Huh. Maybe it's just that Kaidan fans are not as vocal as I thought. I'm quite surprised - pleasantly of course - to be proven wrong.

They are. But that's not the problem. It's (straight) guys who think what they think defines the ultimate truth. When they say 'no one likes Kaidan" they speak solely for themselves, most of them probably never saw any statistics or anything. They cared about banging Ashley so they nuked Kaidan and think everyone did the same. They're so freaking full and confident of themselves they will write it down as a fact. And unfortunately BioWare buys into that. Casey tweeted HIMSELF that Ash AND Kaidan get the most requests for screens, Kaidan has one of the most popular threads on BSN, tons of Kaidan fanart made it into Comic-Con, yet when Casey was with sitting with another dude from IGN during E3 demo who went "ohh nobody likes Kaidan", he agreed and said "Yeah there's some love for him but not much". No much my ass. The difference is that Kaidan fans don't do stuff like that with other characters. We don't go around proclaiming "no one cares for Ashley".

The Garrus romance is kinda fun.  Dorktacular and hysterical dialog, and the bedroom scene is bittersweet.  The whole vibe of Garrus having the "Midas Touch" (a.k.a. everything he touches turns to merde) and wanting one thing to go right is touching.  Even the FemShep I rolled specifically to romance him wanted to just hold him and tell him everything will be all right, but in a sisterly way.  At the end though, she remained loyal to Kaidan (i.e. I played through it, and went back to an earlier save and went from there without romancing him).   

I figured more people would romance Thane, and "bromance " Garrus...

Still think that part of the reason for Horizon being as bad as it was was so people would lose loyalty to their ME1 LI.  It was a setup so people would not feel guilty about trying different romances in ME2.  Imagine if Horizon was done differently (a.k.a. well) - would more people have stayed loyal?

/still think the "night to treasure or horrible interspecies awkwardness thing" is a great line

Agreed.  It's one thing to not like a character specifically, which is ok.  But to bash them and hold another up as sooo much better is stupid.  Divisive and immature, like you said.  They're on par with the intelligensia who give us such wonderful insights like "Kaidan is Carth 2.0!  He's whiny, omg it's Carth all over again!"    Same voice actor so same character, right?  Funny how no one compares Kaidan to Scorch.

He's doing it to stir us up lol!  What better way to gauge the support a character really has than to say something sideways negative?

Agree. We don't need to bad mouth other characters to make Kaidan look better in comparsion. Let's focus on Kaidan love, but we need to be even more persistent and vocal. Keept tweeting Kaidan questions to BioWare developers and telling them how much you like Kaidn, keep producing fanarts, videos and everything else! <3

I'll admit I did one run of ME2 with Garrus as LI...just to try it. It was cute and as much as I love Garrus to bits it did feel a bit like sleeping with my best friend. My canon saves are all romance-free in ME2.

My Sheps are all ready and poised to take advantage of some fraternization with a fellow Spectre in ME3 ;-)

About Mr. Hudson saying strange things about Kaidan and fanbase: I really can't understand how developers' recent words are connected with reality recently.

"What next lithos do you want to see?" - Kaidan winning and nearly draw between Ashley and Liara - "Oh, here's our new litho "team!"

"Who do you want to see on next screenshot, maybe new Vega? Or armored Ashley?" - "Oh, I see Ashley and Kaidan are winning, but why no love for Jacob?" - "To celebrate 10,000 follower we release new screenshot of James Vega!". No new screenshots aside that so far.

"After Mass Effect March there will be announcement many fans waited for so long!" - "Here's our 6 candidates for new default femShep" (not to mention femShep trailer was unofficially announced long time ago.

Well, I would understand if it was "VS fans, you already got two screenshots of each of your favs and piece of trailer with Ashley, now have patience until we release something for other fans or for marketing purposes" - I remember very well when it was absolutely zero attention to VS and wouldn't want attention given to my favs at a price of other characters' fans who are in the absolute informational vacuum now and who aren't that vocal to draw attention by themselves. But I can't see logic in how the contrast between the opinion of fanbase, even when fanbase was  directly asked, and the resulting event is just not mentioned at all.

I know waiting is annoying, but quite frankly in a few months ME3 is released and I can -hopefully- drag Kaidan along for hours upon hours ... then I won't give a *bleeep* anymore about whose screenshots were released first anyway
