Completely THIS! Posted Image I've been avoiding the threads so I didn't get spoiled by the ending which is theroy should have worked but the ending doesn't make any sense.  And now that I've finished I understand the fanrage over the endings, not because the Mass Relays where destroy (that was the only part of it that made sense to me) but ...

I'm pretty sure I did the Synthesis ending (they really need to make that clearer) so does that mean that Shep is alive ... How?
Why wasn't the Normandy in the Sol System?
To echo everyone on this thread, how did Kaidan go from being passed out in London at the base of a Reaper to being on the Normandy?
What about the rest of the crew, did they survive? All I saw was Joker, EDI and Kaidan come out of the Normandy.

But in regards to the Kaidan romance, I loved every second of it! It felt as though it was real, there was a lot of emotion and energy behind it. The only thing that spoiled it for me was my husband sitting in the background laughing at the sappiness until I finally told him off for ruining my game Posted Image

Oh, Kaidan can come with to the bomb? Awesome.

Yeah, just do it right after. (If you do too many missions between rescuing the turians and disarming the bomb, it goes off, and Wrex is pissed at you on Earth at the end—Eve got blown up, believe it or not.)

He has an over-the-comm conversation with Garrus about it after the mission, as well as banter during the mission (and maybe some interjections as well).

devSin so when should I start Platoon mission? Right before the coup?

Oh I want this but I don't want to risk missing quests or letting the bomb go off if I do it wrong. Still it would be on my second playthrough. And it does mean moar Kaidan...

About EDI I never took her anywhere either. I just let her and Joker hang out on the ship together. After not having my old squaddies for so long I couldn't bear not to take them everywhere with me. Still, her decoy move was useful, and hilarious. I swear I yelled at her to get back into cover/shot at her thinking an enemy had uncloaked more than once when I did bring her along.

I liked mr McProthy (i dont know why i call him that) hes sour and bitter and a bit of a b********, but i found he actually balanced the squad out well, i found liara being nicey nice throughout a bit tiresome (and tali too). I took him everywhere on my first playthrough along with Kai, hes got some good lines, hes also a biotic with decent guns who doesnt drop dead every 5 seconds! (liara im looking at you and using up all the meidgel on the mars tram!)

When I did this, I took Garrus and James to rescue the turians, then I did the priority mission with Garrus and Liara (the Primarch leaves you a message afterward about helping with the bomb if you haven't done it already), then I returned to the Citadel (again Garrus and Liara) and got Kaidan back. I did the bomb immediately after with Garrus and Kaidan.

Afterward, Kaidan will be talking with Garrus about it (over the radio; Garrus doesn't relocate) when you enter the observation room (and he has comments during the mission IIRC, and maybe even lines in the Primarch's son's dialogue).

That was when I was searching for the absolute minimum you had to do before getting Kaidan back, so I really just did priority missions and the mission to rescue the turians (Mordin doesn't complete the cure until after that).

So Platoon -> Tuchanka Priority -> Citadel -> Bomb.

I wonder if you can do the Platoon after Tuchanka, maybe not, but I will check it one day.

I wasn't able to (I tried). After that mission is when Mordin tells you the cure is complete and when the priority site becomes active on Tuchanka. You can't progress until Mordin is done, so you have to do that mission first, even though it's not technically a priority (I bet Kaidan even has dialogue for it, that no one will ever see, unless there's another mission that also triggers the cure completion).

The question is, was it specifically that Platoon that mission triggered Mordin to finish the cure or any 1 mission to get the cure done.

Holy ****. I just finished my first playthough. And I have some questions...

1. Is there a support group I can join? I've been crying for, like, half an hour.
2. What the hell just happened? I really wish I hadn't avoided all those spoilers now.
3. Did I accidentally kill Kaidan? Because he was in London with me for the final assault...
4. What's all this about DLC? I don't even understand how that would work
5. Did anyone else hate Prothy? Just sayin' (Maybe he'll grow on me next round)
6. Did I get the not best ending? My green readiness bar was full though!

I'll answer what I know the best I can: SPOILERS FOLLOW

1. If there is, I'd like to know. I wish I could tell you it'll get better, but... Go buy some Ben & Jerry's, that's my best suggestion.
2. No one really knows for sure what on Earth just happened. I'm staking my bets on the "indoctrination/hallucination" theory (Explained here)
3. I don't know. When someone asked Chris about this on Twitter, all he said was "I don't think we've announced that yet, sorry". Plus, I saw Kaidan exit the Normandy with Joker, so... I still support the above theory.
4. Many people, myself included, hope BW will release an Ending DLC with the real ending. They could be holding back for a number of reasons, or they could make something new. Or they could just tell us to accept what we got.
5. I don't hate him, but I don't really like him either. Didn't interact with him much.
6. Depends what you think the best ending is. Personally, the best ending I can think of (the only one with Shep alive) is Destroy with an EMS of over 5,000 (Not War Assets, EMS. The green bar fills when you have the minimum required to "save" Earth).

END OF SPOILERS

I'd recommend browsing the Story section of the forum for better theories and explainations.

Please, you know I tried that. ;-)

I reloaded and did the Grissom Academy mission. Mordin didn't finish the cure after it like he does with the turian rescue. So either it has to be that mission, or it's only a small subset of missions (maybe the Grunt mission? I think it opens up after talking to Wrex).

It's not too much, and you miss out with the reputation bonus for speaking directly with the Primarch (who's no longer on the ship if you do it after).

It just works better in the story to disarm the bomb and have to broker peace between the Primarch and Wrex than to get some generic lines from Kaidan in my opinion.

Okay, I'll have to give this another shot then.  I think I got the Synthesis ending.  It *seemed* like the best outcome, but I was pretty displeased.

I'm so upset right now I'd currently be okay with DLC where Shep after the ending Shep wakes back up in her cabin after her LI visits and realizes that the last hour and a half of the game was actually part of the same nightmare with the kid* and then you have to wake up and assault London again.  The right way this time.

Thanks for the hugs/comiseration/cheering up, y'all.  I'm gonna go get a beer now.

*note: that would actually be a better explanation for what the hell he was doing on the Citadel than the one we got about his being the catalyst

Going with the Indoctrination theory, I think Shep wakes up right after being hit by Harby's laser. Otherwise, the scene you get at the end of "Destroy" with Shepard lying amidst the London rubble breathing doesn't make sense. Not that any of the ending really makes sense anyways :? And this is how I see the endings, personally:

Control: The Reapers CAN'T be controlled. If you watch Shep, she/he turns very husk-like as she/he desinigrates (I didn't spell that right). Not only that, but the Prima guide describes this ending as "becoming a Reaper". Also, this option is portrayed as Paragon, and that's what the Reapers want you to think.
Synthesis: This is what the Reapers want you to think is the best. But think about it, they already hacked the Geth easily enough with a virus. If everyone becomes a machine, then they can just infect and destroy them that much more easily. And, same as Control, the Prima guide describes this ending as "becoming a Reaper" as well.
Destroy: Seemingly, you destroy them. The Reapers don't want this, hence why it's portrayed as the Renegade option of the three (The Reapers are screwing with your mentality, changing everything you think you know). Plus, Destroy is the only option where Shepard lives at the end (that we see, anyways).

That's just my reasoning.

Even though Kaidan was in this game a lot more than ME2, when I was in Shep's cabin, I kept expecting to still see the picture of him on the desk. I kind of missed it

Synthesis left me bitter - I haven't yet tried the others, but would only consider destroying reapers as the alternative. After reading about the endings, it feels like the lesser of three evils... I for one wouldn't want to have cybernetic / synthetic implants forced on me without consultation. Thinking about it for the past few hours I guess I have to go back and destroy - I'm just mad that after all I have done, all I tried to do to save and unite the galaxy, all my choices are moot and really inconsequential, because they couldn't figure out a better way for different plot lines to finish.

It's as bad an ending to a trilogy as the Matrix was - kid being architect, synthetics being the machines, one person saves the galaxy and sacrifices themselves to do it to break a cycle. Grr.

Beer! and multiplayer because I need to shoot something.

So that's what I get for listening to that stupid ghost kid.  This will be rectified.  That's why tester Shepard went first.  She messes up all kinds of stuff.

That does make more sense, but I only meant that I would take a crappy, cop-out, "it was all a dream" DLC over the ending I actually got.

And you're right.  None of it makes sense anyways.
Although, it seems BW might fix it.  We'll see...<_<

Yeah me too. It was the first thing I looked for when I went into the cabin, force of habit I guess? Maybe Shep just didn't want to let the Alliance brass see it.

I want my ball back! My freaky Prothean sphere - who stole it? and my N7 helmet and my photo of Kaidan!

But chasing the hamster was one of the funniest moments - pure gold!

Was one of the first things I checked for :?
Would have been a good chance for extra Kaidan dialogue too.

Sad that w all hope it was a dream lol
Though... if it turns out we all got played, Im not sure I'd be happy with that either heh
I've said before but I didn't mind the endings so much as the Normandy and squadies flee to Jurassic planet.
That bit, I can't get past.

That being said, I support you all who want a extending ending / real ending DLC... I for one would lap it up. Not that I need sunshine and rainbows.. just a smidgeon of hope that my poor Sheps life, work, love etc etc was not totally in vain - because I do agree with that one guy... half the remaining galaxy is hovering around earth til they run out of resources... good luck getting any of them to help Earth again lol.

I love this game, ending makes you forget that, but apart from it, ME3 couldn't have been more perfect. I know people don't like the auto dialogue, but I don't mind it. Also just wondering does Spacer Shepard find out about her mother? She's only mentioned her so far in passing comment to Garrus

Maybe before the Shepard goes to see the defense committee? That's the only thing that would makes sense since the way the message is worded, it can't be when he's in the hospital =/

I don't  know, I've always been a colony kid myself. I was extra happy when Shep mentioned it on the Eden Prime mission, though kind of bummed I couldn't see Talitha again. Of course considering the fate of other minor NPCs maybe it's for the best. Speaking of which, how do you find out what happened to Emily Wong?

Say, does Kaidan ever bring up the events of Arrival? Back when I played it, I figured he'd probably be pretty appauled at Shepard's actions and the resulting 300,000 deaths, yet I don't remember hearing him bring it up at all.

As for Emily Wong, I think she's still officially MIA after the Twitter events (which heavily imply she died). I don't remember hearing any news on her throughout the game, nor seeing her on the memorial wall.
