If I might cut in, the ending is one thing, but there's one more, in my humble opinion, namely: the romance with Kaidan has not that many dialogue lines as one might expect from an RPG game. Right, Mass Effect has been intended to blend best of action and RPG elements, yet certain elements have been treated slightly negligently. Crew interaction is fine for me, lots of dialogues etc., yet if you decide to romance somebody... Shouldn't it open additional deal of interaction?

Yeah I thought that too, but all we got were a few lines of automatic dialogue. There's just not enough.
I think if you stick it all together all Kaidan scenes come to about just under 40mins of content. That's hardly anything, especially for a 35hour game. Would be interesting to know how much content the other romances get in the game.

I was wondering if that was the "punishment" ppl were talking about when you romanced another person in ME2?

My Shep didn't romance anyone in ME2, and she didn't get any more content than anyone else...

Same here, although I'm guessing that the Talimancers got even less dialogue, nevermind any of the other ME2 LIs. Anyone know how much Garrus and Liara have?

To the best of my knowledge, Tali seemed to have the least dialogues... Strange, that characters present in all 3 games and available as a romance option at least in 2 of them did not receive more interaction options and dialogue lines. What's more peculiar, in case of Kaidan, why were there no dialogues with him concerning time when Shepard worked with Cerberus? Such a discussion would be nice and could be expanded even more if you romance Kaidan.

Bah, MShep got Aggressive Kaidan? :o Dude. I had always said that if I rolled a Male Shepard, that I was going to romance Jack, but seeing those gifs is really tempting me here!

Yeah, on that note I was rather disappointed that the only time they ever touch on Shepard's state after the Collector attack is if you bring him along for the Cerberus base and view the logs (as far as I know, might've missed something). Sure, incredibly sweet how he goes "You're real enough for me" or somesuch (and all the following "I should've been there with you" stuff as you progress), but I'd have hoped there'd be a chance for Shep to put all the cards on the table and explain the extent of project Lazarus to him.

He does bring that up in the beginning though, expressing that he did not know if shep was still Shep. What I though was outragious though is that he accused Shep of cheating- although it was him in ME 2 not wanting to talk to Shep. Back then I though he was through with me.

Off-topic but is there any Witcher 2 fans here? I know it got a lot of praise on PC so is it worth getting for the 360? Does it have a good ending? :P

Can't say for the 360 - no idea sorry - but I can tell you it's an excellent game.  The ending - good?  Depends what you mean by good.  Logical and makes sense, certainly - and that's more than you can say for ME3 for a start.

I suspect they are currently working on some sort of ending dlc.. they are being way too cagey about it all to not be
doing 'something' about it

I still dont think anything will be available till april/may, but I just found out the poll is up to like nearly 400k people which has to be making Bioware/Ea nervous.. if that many people choose never to buy another Bioware product, then thats alot of $$$$ out of their pockets.. which is why I assume that instead of 'standing by their product' they have said... 'hey, what do you all want to see happen'

You know I could wait 'till May to get this mess sorted out - I waited for the game for over a year after all - it's this cagey-ness that gets to me.  If they said they were going to release something, all fine and good but this is just horrible and I've been on the edge of saying 'oh just eff off, I'm going off to do something more interesting, thanks'  a good few times now.  I've typed it in the posting box more than once and then not posted.  I came really close with that notice of Casey Hudson's comments.

I see Isaac's been playing with Kaidan - well, at least someone's having fun!  ;)

from TV Trope about BewareTheNiceOnes

In a similar vein, Kaidan Alenko is a relaxed, dorky type with
absolutely no weapon skills available. But he can fire people into the
sun with his mind and cause biological enemies to have toxic-flavoured seizures. He even ends his Training from Hell by snapping his turian instructor's neck with a biotic kick whilst defending another poor schmuck.

  • It should also be mentioned that said poor schmuck was his
girlfriend. For future reference: If you value your life, don't hurt the
girlfriend of a biotic, especially if you have been putting said biotic
through the aforementioned Training from Hell.

I almost fell from my chair because of this

I like the first one the best. The expressions are so perfectly animated! The rest are nice, but the first.... mm
Especially when Shep is kinda pushing Kaidan down.

I'm in the middle of a Garrus romance and I haven't seen any punishment.  You still get a lot of dialogues.

The "cheating" isn't really brought up that much either. When you speak to Kaidan in the hospital he asks you if you've had a thing with Garrus where you can lie to him about it  (he sees through it and says everybody knows), say you're sorry (Saying something along the lines of I'm sorry Kaidan but we were so far apart physically and something about the fight on Horizon), or a third option which I think also mentioned Horizon. If you apologize, Kaidan will tell you that for him there's nobody else and he still cares for you (and the Kaidan romance progresses).

In the lunch scene, Kaidan will say that he understands that you cheated (which sort of annoyed me because I don't think it's cheating when they weren't together), but unless you've already dated Garrus you'll get the same dialogue as in the romance afterwards.
So no, I don't think there are any repercussions.

The Garrus romance is kind of nice, though. Lots of kissing, no sex, and not as good as romancing Kaidan, but still pretty sweet.

Rhana wasn't his girlfriend. She was his crush. Could you imagine a LI DLC which where you get hurt to the point where he demonstrates such force that he's scared to see you afterwards since Rhana's reaction? I would just go to him wrap my arms around him and kiss him.

Aw, I would love something like that...

You know, I had really hoped that there would be at least one part of the game where Shepard is the one who needs saving.

How long and happy would Kaidan's life be, exactly, if Shepard died on him a second time? He not only has to live through her death once, but twice, and this time, there's no one to bring her/him back. That just seems cruel to me...

I suddenly have the urge to play some ME3 again now. I swore to myself that I wouldn't untill that dreadful ending was sorted out, but alas I'm a fool for love. This is especially amazing compared to Hawke x Fenris/Anders, which was just eh, but yeah that's for another board and another discussion.

Its arrogant to think that someone would be forever broken if someone they cared about died. Maybe broken and grieving for a while, maybe a long time. But killing Kaidan because Shepard can't live just seems selfish and silly to me. Kaidan will heal and move on. Meeting Shepard was probably the greatest defining moment of his life. But Shepard doesn't define him.

I have a question for anyone who's done Renegade Shep and still romanced Kaidan. I've done mostly Paragon stuff with him, being nice on Mars and bringing him the bottle of liquor, but when he said "Are we good" in the second hospital scene when he's awake, I said choose the renegade "Yeah, for now" option. I noticed that doing that instead of the paragon choice made the next set of dialogues (when you ask about his biotics) play differently, and he didn't say "Are you flirting with me, Commander?" I liked that, 'cause it will make the scene in Apollo's Cafe have more meaning to me, since that was the first real admission that he liked my ManShep.

So my question: will the romance still trigger later on if I don't pick the option that makes him say "Are you flirting with me?" I'd like to play hard to get a bit ... ;) Any input is appreciated!

It does seem cruel to let him survive Shepard's death again...
