I was under the impression from the email that he didn't cheat with the doctor and that when he sent you that email his friends had literally just talked him into going for drinks with her in order for him to try and move on, then Shepard comes back from the dead and sends him right back to square one again. So he didn't actually cheat at all.

Hmm, the email came across to me that he'd only been on a date or two with the doctor, and that if Shepard hadn't turned up again it might have developed into something more. Different people have different interpretations, anyway, and I like to think of my Shep as being a bit paranoid about love so I'm probably just seeing it from her perspective. :)

Now see I too am of the opinion that the date with the Doctor was more of a, 'hey we're going out, you're coming.  oh and btw we have a date for you too' set up by friends.  Maybe it could have gone further if Shepard hadn't been brought back, and I'm OK with that, if Shepard stayed dead, I feel my Shepard at least would have wanted Kaidan to move on with his life, not sit around waiting to die alone.  The fact that he admits he went out and tried to move on, but her coming back to life changed that is enough for me.

My little short used her as the catalyst for Kaidan to realize all the feelings he still had for Shepard while he was in the hospital.  Take that, doctor lady!  :D

I feel the same way though - he met up with her to try and move on, but then Shepard comes back.  I love that he tells it was nothing serious in the email - I think he feels a little guilty about it knowing that Shepard is around even though at the time he thought she was dead and so has no reason to feel guilty at all.  But the fact that Kaidan is a gentleman is what I lo....appreciate about him.  ;)

For some reason (I can't help it >.<) I picture Kaidan on a date with this doctor and it never working do to him.

Doctor:So what's your favorite color?
Kaidan: Blue. It was also Shepard favorite color. She loved it when I use my biotics.
Doctor:Umm, ok. Best part about being in the alliance?
Kaidan:Being with Shepard.

I still maintain that Jacob was never intended to be anything more than a temp. booty call. I mean. He is a man.

But isn't Jacob the only ME2 romance who outright says "I love you"? Not sure about that, I never romanced him because of cougar!Shep, but I remember reading about it. You hardly say those three words to someone who's but a booty call to you. I really feel sorry for the Jacobmancers, especially because (as far as I know) you can't even react properly. Like, at least slap him or something.
Makes one appreciate the awesomness of Kaidan's romance even more <3

LOL yeah I can imagine him telling his date stories of his time working with Shepard but going on about Shep a bit too much, making his date realise that he clearly wasn't over losing her.

Thats just it, in the previous novels he is a worthy opponet....in the Deception they f***** him up so badly that for some reason that is all I can thing of since it was the last thing I read before playing ME3.  It is just one of those things that can't be unseen.  Know what I mean?  Up until Deception I thought he was a ruthless hard a**, Deception made him.....stupid.

As for the cereal thing....he was like a dog marking his territory during one part of the book when he is in Andersons place and he decides to sit down, have a bowl of cereal at the dinner table, then carefully put it all back as if he wasn't there.  That is where the "cereal killer" comes from.

Jacob only says he loves you if you turn him down the first time. In fact you need to turn him down 3 times in the romance scene to get him to leave. *I only played through his romance scene once or twice though, and the deleated the saves back when there was a rumour that Kaidan wouldn't be coming back in 3 so I wouldn't skew the results in favour of LI's I didn't really like. And wow that was ages ago.*

Would be hilarious if that doctor did turn out to be the one who dated Kaidan. :lol:And I love that idea for what happened in the date. *New headcanon unlocked!* Darn you guys for ruining my previous headcanon! :P

This is one of my favourite dialogues! Mainly because I was playing ME1 again a few days before ME3 came out and I had like 5 omni-tools, all of which were worse than the ones I already had so I gelled them. Turns out they were the same ones that Kaidan and Tali were talking about! Also there is a severe lack of class-related conversations, Aminthe's an Engineer, she shoulda joined in that convo. It was still hilarious to watch. :P

Hey, hey, don't diss the sword! It's a katana, very different. Swords are awesome, katanas are wannabes.

Wait, Deception called him a "Cereal Killer"? Seriously?
I remember reading in the leaked script that he killed one of your Squadmates on Thessia (the script used Kaidan/Ashley and Liara for that scene). So I was really freaked out, especially since I had brought Kaidan and Liara with me.
That was actually my thinking throughout the entire game, I was sure at some point there would be a Virmire like scenario with whoever you brought with you, I was so overprotective of my squad. Looks like I wasn't paying enough attention to the person who actually DID die...

No, the book didn't alot people here from the community dubbed him him cereal killer because of that scene in the book.  He is a legitimate bad guy up until that book.  You really hate/wanna kill him because of how cold and ruthless he is.  Then he has a bowl of cereal and you're like - really???  this the best bad guy creepy thing you can come up with?

Yeah, what are the LI options for femshep in ME3? Kaidan, Garrus and Liara, right? And I guess Samantha Traynor, but that's more like Kelly Chambers thing, right?

I always thought that more happened with the doctor than he let on, but I don't think he really cared about her either. It's like that scene from When Harry Met Sally:

Sally: Harry I think this takes a long time. It might be months before we're actually able to enjoy going out with someone new.
Harry: Yah...
Sally: And may be longer, before we're actually able to go to bed with someone new.
Harry: Oh I went to bed with her
Sally: You went to bed with her?
Harry: Sure.
Sally: Oh.

I mean three years is a really long drought. In my playthrough I always imagine that he's not upset because Shepard hooked up with someone else, but that she was emotionally involved. Does anyone know if he asks about one of the non-acheivement LIs in the hospital scene if you hooked up with them? Or if Ash reacts if BroShep had renegade sex with Jack?

I still want there to be a "We were on a break!" conversation option with him in the cafe scene.

Edit: Long pyramid quote is long. Snipped for readability.

After looking at the other ME3 romances, I think we Kaidan fans are really lucky and spoiled. Only Liara really seems to have a one-up on Kaidan's scenes and arc.

On a completely unrelated note, I think I'm going to be girly and paint my fingernails with a N7 color scheme/design to try and cheer up.
I got a text this morning from my mother that said, "What's wrong with you? You've been acting so depressed and distant for a week." Whelp, I guess mothers do know best. Has anyone else been questioned on their emotional state?

On the topic of the Doctor, I don't think it was anything very serious either aside from some of his friends setting him up to try and make him feel better. She never comes up again after that email, and Kaidan clearly isn't one to take relationships lightly (at least, I don't see him in that light. He's still regretting what happened with Rhana or however you spell it, and it's been years since that happened).

Not yet, but I don't interact with many people who don't understand what's going on.  Heck even my dad is supporting me on it and he doesn't even begin to understand gaming, or computers, or consoles or any of that stuff.  (I'm 42, he's 65)

LOL yeah I've had people asking, they all know I'm really upset about the ME3 ending... but then I was depressed before that, I was just fighting it off until THAT happened, I guess it was the "emergency induction port" that broke the camels back in my case.

So I decided to import my original ME M!Shep into ME3, where Kaidan is dead and Ashley is alive...
Oh God.
This is so very, very wrong.
I'm going back to ME1 and leaving her by the nuke.

Yea I do agree we got lucky with Kaidan but I was thinking for all the femsheps that killed Kaidan and Garrus didn't make it out of SM. They have.....Liara and Samantha. Thank god I have both Garrus and Kaidan alive.

No I really loved the romance between Shep and Kaidan. It felt real!! The animation was perfect. Facial expressions were good. I LOVED the date scene. I wish we could of been able to do the cuddle thing on the bed like in ME2. The love scenes is the only thing that got me thru that game. I wish we could of had more convo's and not auto dialouge. Plus most of the scenes now are buggy. Some don't fire while others do.

We got to see them spooning, which for me felt a lot more intimate than them lying on the bed fully clothed like they did in ME2. It was a pity there weren't more little inimate moments like that throughout the game for all the LI's, I think they missed some really good opportunities with that one.

Apparently if you turn down the offer of sex Shepard asks him to stay anyway and he just holds her until she falls asleep, which is very sweet.

I'd love more romance scenes, too, but it feels almost selfish to want them due to how much we got compared to people like Thane, Jacob, Jack, Miranda, etc.
There was that rumor about Romance DLCs coming out later this year, too, but I'm not sure that Bioware's mental state at the moment is even thinking that far ahead. From what I can tell, it feels to me like they're in a bit of a frenzy and a bind at the same time.

I wonder what the romance DLC would include? I really thought we'd get loyalty missions in this game so when Kaidan mentioned his dad was MIA and that his students were missing I thought we would have a mission in which we would go find them. Same with Garrus and his family.

After I heard that PTSD Asari talking about killing Jokers family I was dreading that we might hear some news about Garrus' family dying or Kaidan's dad getting killed in action.

I just replayed it to see what would happen if you turned down Kaidan and sure you cuddle but after the dream you still wake up in bed in nothing just about and so is he. Not that I'm going to complain. Posted Image
Still I like the cuddling option or calling up. One time I hope rumors are true about a romance dlc.

I read that next month ME action figures are supposed to come out and each is reportedly to have DLC specific to them. But as you have mentioned, things at BW's offices must be a bit on the frantic side...or they expected the firestorm and are playing us like violins.

What does Shepard say when you pick "Thank you" instead of "I love you"? and what's Kaidans reply to that?
