zzz so depressing.. prior to ME3 release there were so many peeps wanting to play MP, now hardly anyone is on anymore.. this makes me a sad panda...

think im gonna go read some more fanfic.. some of that stuff is really really good and is passing the time till they sort out these endings...

Also, does anyone have the link to the endings poll? I want to see what the numbers are up to now, can send to me with a PM so I dont have to run back thru pages

I'll probably be on in an hour or two. And check my sig for the endings poll.

oh weird.. the aussie gamesite that reported on this poll said it was up to like 370k votes.. hrmm shows how retarded they are

I guess that's a good mistake? Makes our numbers a lot higher

Also, I'd like to ask this question to you guys. Every time the subject of Kaidan being 'whiny' comes up people claim Kaidan constantly complains about his headaches. And yet, the only way I even knew about his headaches were cause of Dr. Chakwas and an offhand comment in an elevator conversation.

Am I missing something?

The biotic float comment

My mistake for taking Liara on that mission. She has a comment about needing a crow bar to open the elevator doors, and I guess her comment supercedes Kaidan's for whatever reason. Won't be too hard to leave her behind next playthrough. Her outrage over the banshees really annoyed me. The reapers have been making human husks for three years, and you're only just now realizing how horrifying it is?

there were several moments i wanted to **** slap Liara

1] on Mars- where Shep looks at Kaidan after the " I've got a lot to live for" Line. the Snarky way she says " That's a terrible burden" ... it seams like she was upset that Shep wasn't paying attenion to her..
2]  same Case after Mars when Kaidan is hurt. Liara just seams to ..i don't know Smirk a bit? could just be me. but I still wanted to slap her.
3] Thessia,  yes Liara it's horrible, but please for the love of god, shut up and focus on the task. you can greave in a cut sence later....

Didn't notice any smirking. And I gave her a pass on Thessia what with it being her homeworld and all. But, the Ardat-Yakshi mission annoyed me.

hmmm I could just be reading to much  into it.

Haha definitely not. I think it's probably just the first conversation that he says he gets headaches or something, and then he drops it immediately after. I didn't hear anything about headaches in ME3 actually.

I think people just look for excuses to hate him.

Funny thing is I have seen so many men crying outright in these March Madness basketball games, but Kaidan is too emotional for getting a bit upset about his father dying? Alrighty then :/

I know.  I hate how she rages all over the place about Thessia falling and everyone falls over themselves to apologize.  Palaven and Earth?  Meh.  We get *Monotone* "Oh.  Wow.  I'm so sorry."

I can't confirm this because I never played as maleshep in ME1, but I've heard that he complains of headaches when talking to maleshep so your conversations are shorter than with femshep (presumably because he "likes" femshep).  I'm kind of curious to try it out but that would require replaying ME1 when the wounds are still fresh... :pinched:

I was in a post-ME3 ending funk for like 4 days and didn't even touch MP for the first time until Friday for the whole Operation Goliath thing.  I think you guys were in full matches but then no one else was playing so it felt a bit deserted.  So I played with some of my non-Mass Effect obsessed male gamer friends for the first time ever and it was pretty informative because most of them loved the rest of the game but they were all very *sigh* and disappointed with the ending too.

I will be on XBL sporadically for the rest of the week (midterms - boo!) but I'm definitely getting on a lot starting Friday when classes end and then I will be on MP a lot!  I'm trying to play every single class evenly so we can have as much variety as possible for the gold missions.  I mean I suck at vanguard but it'll be leveled up in case we need it.

Umm, no!  That's another part of the ending I have a hard time believing.  Apparently Joker didn't want to save the galaxy.  He just wanted an empty planet to get it on with his sexbot.  Clearly Kaidan should be devestated that Shepard was a) left behind, and B) most likely dead.  And if Allers tries to repopulate the planet with him he should backhand her into the next cycle... especially since there won't be one.  *Grumble* Never shoulda let that hussy on my ship...

Ok, this is a few pages old and OT, but I need to vent this before I maybe start a thread in the spoiler section.  Anyway...

Watched the endings today on youtube.  Something struck me about the Normandy fleeing.  The sequence goes:
Choice
Discharge technicolor energy to Earth, and is then shot to relays
Energy goes throughout relay system, destroying Charon relay first
Normandy flees, gets caught up in billowing energy cloud
Relay destroyed as Normandy flies through
Land on Gilligan's Planet.

Now wait!  Charon Relay was destroyed BEFORE Joker goes through it.  What relay is he going through?  Is this sloppy editing, or more What The ***kery?

Is this explained in another thread, and if so can you point me in that direction?  Because this struck me as a totally broken moment.

Also noted that Big Ben is destroyed in all bad (destroy, control) endings, but preserved in good (destroy, control).  Couldn't tell with synthesis, think I saw it destroyed.

Comes up more in fanfics than it does in the game.

I don't know, Liara was obviously jealous of Kaidan but when Kaidan was hurt and Shepard is just staring at his body dumbstruck she immediately takes charge and tells Shepard that they need to go to the Citadel hospital. Shepard just seems so shaken at that point that Liara needs to help direct her. Then after the dream Liara console her when Kaidan isn't there.

She was my best friend. It's like a guy friend who obviously wants something more but still cares more about you being happy rather than their own happiness.

Did anyone else notes Kaidan gets hurt because he's trying to protect Liara?  He helps her up, Eva attacks them, and Kaidan pushes Liara out of the way and stands in front of her, taking the brunt of the attack.  Of course, there's no way Liara would have survived that beating.  My hero.  <3

Basically, I'm at the point where I chalk it up to crappy execution on BioWare's part. For whatever reason, they dropped the ball big time and drank some kind of powerful Kool-Aid to convince themselves that this was gonna fly. I dunno, maybe they saw some kind of internal marketing that most of the people playing are mentally challenged monkeys?

At any rate, they forgot that with a fan base as large as this game has, any plot holes they left behind will quickly and ruthlessly be exposed.

For example, I just watched the full synthesis ending on YouTube. If we sacrifice ourselves to merge all organics and synthetics, why do we not see any circuitry in any of the plants or trees on the jungle planet? Presumably, they are organic forms of life that would have been merged. After all, if they were left untouched, then the problem of chaotic organic lifeforms is just going to rear its ugly head when the Treants evolved on some uncharted world in the galaxy.

"Chain of command Shepard. I'm not Kaidan"

Joker is amazing.

LOL yes, I cracked up when I saw that on my FemShep (because yeah, had Joker been a romance option in ME1, I so would have gone there!).

It's even funnier when you're not in a Kaidanmance:

"In an alternate dimension without military ranks? I would rock your world."

That's hilarious - I never have the guts to flirt with anyone else, even though I know I can just reload.

I have a Kaidan related question, which I've tried searching for but have not found the answer (and I apologize if it has already been covered).  Kaidan talks about his students and how he doesn't know where they are... but then all of sudden at the end he mentions that his biotics division is on Earth and ready to fight.  Did I miss a mission in there?  Or did I probe-retrieve them off some planet at some point?  I'm just confused as to how it went from Kaidan worried about his missing students to biotics division ready for battle on Earth.  Or are they the same students that were with Jack?  In which case why didn't he mention that?  Sorry all the questions!! haha

Thanks!  That's so weird that I missed it considering I literally run to each character after every mission to see if they have something new to say. I will look for it during my second playthrough!  Thanks again!

Actually in the synthesis ending I'm pretty sure the leaves are glowing blue so I think it is implied that there was a shift in the plants as well.

Ok, thank you for the confirmation.  Yet more against the ending.

As for Kaidan being "whiny", it's mostly people thinking he's Carth 2.0 - whiny, boring male LI in a BW game voiced by Raphael Sbarge.  Sad how he never gets accused of being Scorch 2.0.  Kaidan lampshades it "I just don't want you to think that I'm, you know...a whiner."

People just hate the human male LI. It overshadows their big damn male hero. If Kaidan was an alien there would be no problem.

Eh, they didn't look any different to me than the ones I got in my destroy ending.

Still synthesis has a host of problems either way if you start to think about it. Do biosynthetics eat? What do they eat? How would they reproduce?

It all just starts to get way too space magicky for me after a while for me to buy the idea of the happy joy-joy synthesis ending.

About the whiny argument, I've noticed some people are quick to call any male character who isn't the cold and stoic or up-front type "whiny". It irks me, because it's usually always my LI's that get accused. Alistair & Kaidan mostly, haha. I have no problem with shyer or more emotional characters, male or female, but the guys get the short end of the stick it seems when their personality is more passive than aggressive. Lots of aggressive females characters seem to be popular though, like Jack. :P

It's such a shame that so many people hate on characters that have no qualms with showing their softer sides. I romanced Alistair in DA:O, Fenris in DAII, and Kaidan in the ME series. They all appealed to me because of their convictions, and they don't fall into the typical macho-male archetype.  I was actually quite miffed when Game Informer called Alistair a "stupid weiner." <_<

Exactly. I romanced the same characters, except Anders instead of Fenris -- who is also a more emotional, feminine type character. (for really good reasons). Game Informer called him a whiny loser. So that's two of my favorite characters they have insulted. I was so tempted to end my subscription or send anonymous anger mail. :P

Showing your emotions =/= whiny, and I wish more people could understand that. You don't have to be coldhearted or a "tough guy" to be a good character. Some people have legitimate reasons to complain sometimes. Heck, in real life, most every person would be considered whiny if they were video game characters.
