@Leborum: I thought choosing the Renegade options would stop the flirting, but it just added angry flirting instead of cute flirting. Nothing to avoid that, unfortunately, but Vega's not a romance so nothing to worry about.
My headcanon is that he's got a minor crush on Shep.

Well if I'm gonna have to flirt with him either way, I guess I might as well be nice to him and get a cool nickname.  I hope Kaidan's not jealous.

I thought the scene where Vega is getting a tattoo was funny at least.

I always thought the fact that Liara
escaped any sort of Virmire moment or death option was kind of unfair.
That's why I was sad they took out the Kai Leng thing on Thessia. I
probably wouldn't let Liara die often but I would like to have that
choice.

I don't think they'd ever let Liara die on Thessia.

I'll bet the reason they took out the idea of Kai Leng killing one of your squadmates on Thessia was because you have to have Liara with you, and they gave her plot armor. But, they realized that it was entirely possible for players to take EDI with them, and EDI also had to have plot armor because you needed her for the Cerberus base later on. If they left it like that, Kai Leng couldn't kill a squad mate because it was possible for him to be presented with an impossible option - two squaddies with plot armor.

It's just.. I love Liara, but I just ran through all the Liara content in my head in another thread and...

On the first mission to Mars, Liara has a prominent role (apparently this didn't interrupt her shadow broker duties?)
She's there at the citadel explaining the crucible to the council
She's there after Shep's dream to talk to her
She talks to you in the shadow broker's office
She asks to come up to Shep's room to talk about her information box thing
She gives you the ardat yakshi mission and has a lot of dialogue for that mission
She has to come with you on the mission to Eden Prime and has a lot more lines even though this would be a great mission for the VS and Shep to reminisce
She has more conversations with you in her office
She consoles you after your second dream
She has to go along with you to Thessia and is always the one to save Shep from falling
She has a consoling scene in which every member of your crew reminds you to go see her despite the fact that Garrus, Shep, Vega, and VS have gone through the same thing
She has the best romance scene with the most content and the only love interest that is fully nude
She also is placed as the default flashback if you romanced anyone besides the VS
She is the only squadmate from ME1 and ME2 that cannot really die

That's kind of overkill

Yeah, well, I always kind of figured that male or female, Liara was always intended to be the true canon LI which is why she was the way she was all through ME1 (written like a wriggly, overeager sex puppy) which was apparently appealing to many but a royal turnoff to me. It's probalby also why she seems so jealous all the time throughout ME3.

C'mon, you know me. Stuff like this doesn't really influence me personally. But there are other bi and gay people posting and reading this thread who may feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed when reading things like that and they shouldn't, even if this wasn't a thread about a character who happens to also like men.

yeah, i was just thinking about the chances you have to kill sqauides:
Garrius: ME2
Tali : ME2 +ME3
Miranda: ME2 +3
Legion; ME2+3
Kaidan/ Ashley : ME1 +3
Jack: ME2
Mordin: ME2 +3
Wrex: ME1 +3
Grunt: ME2
Jacob: ME2
Samara :ME2 [ Twice] +3
Thane: ME2 +3

everyone has a chance to die BUT Liara. I would have love it if you could have her killed. something like if your EMS score was low, she get's killed by a brute in a cut secne..or something...

Liara seems jealous? I get the feel she's attracted to Shep, disappointed even should you choose to romance someone else, but I never got the jealous feeling.
Also, given that Liara's 100 and lives to 1000, and humans live to 150, Liara would be around 15 in ratio to human years. Which seems... A bit odd to romance. Although she sorta does have that 15 year old first crush type of feeling when she tries to initiate something, IMO. It's different, I'm sure, should you follow through on the romance. I find her social awkwardness almost endearing, when it's not associated with romance.
Not that age conversions really matter, I'm just saying.

That's OK though, I had a hard time with Cortez's marriage thing for similar reasons. The topic is a sensitive, highly-charged subject, and I had to remind myself that I was only tempted to be a d-bag about it because Cortez was a computer character and not a real person.

LadyofRivendell wrote...
And I agree with that you said in that some of Cortez made me a bit uncomfortable. I'm not a homophovbe, neither am I for or against their movement, but it's something I'm uncomfortable around and would rather not have to encounter if I can help it. I would never think of being mean to Cortez, I just generally avoided him. Same thing with Samantha and Diana.

Down!

I'm saying I reacted to Cortez like a do a political statement rather than a I would a character or a real person. In other words, it could have been handled more gracefully seeing as how I have plenty of sci-fi and fantasy on my shelves that feature characters of differing orientations in relationships called all manner of things (including marriages) and when the topic is written well, it doesn't bother me like Cortez did.

It was as much of a statement as Thane's wife was a statement. Which is not at all.

It's just on Mars. I get the jealous feeling when Shep talks about Kaidan being her reason to fight and also later on when she notes Kaidan has become capable. The look she gives after Shepard walks away is pretty telling to me.

I got the impression that Liara was desperately wanting Shepard to like her as a friend, all the way through she was like "we're friends right? You like me right? OMG BBF FOREVER!!!" lol, I thought it was pretty funny anyway.

She also ninjamanced me one time on the Citadel right before I done the Kaidan date scene lol, I had to reload to an earlier save to rectify things.

It's taking me literally 5 hours to finish the last leg of this game. From Cerberus base to London, I keep taking breaks..or reloading to the "romance scene"   ..I seriously can't believe how depressing this last part is. I don't know why people keep saying "they're not asking for a happy ending"...WHY THE HELL NOT? It should be an option just like in DA:O. That game has replayability. If you worked your butt off getting galaxy peace why can't you be rewarded? If you totally want an epic death, you should be able to do that too.

As for the choices in the end, Javik said something to Shep that struck me deeply. "Trillion of souls is watching this moment", HOW CAN YOU NOT CHOOSE ANYTHING BUT DESTROY? Control seems like a betrayal to everyone who has died throughout this whole cycle and the countless once before us. As for synthesis, there should never be a middle ground with something like this. It's all or nothing in my head.....

But then again...for my emotional well being, I've decided my Sheps didn't go through that beam and is actually still lying on the ground delirious from the blast. LoL. Okay now back to playing again. Le Sigh. :(P

Liara's always had a thing for Shepard, it's basically canon. Hell, if you did or didn't romance her in ME1, she still spends 2 years trying to track down your dead body so she can bring you back to life.
She's borderline obsessive. Whereas Kaidan is nice and sweet and not crazy.

Each and every one of us has had that crazy obsessive friend before in the past  I guess Liara is just Shepard's. I don't mind much, I mean, I like being alive again, and I do consider Liara a friend. Just not as much so as Ashley and Kaidan. Liara seems like that friend who would make things really awkward in a group get together...

Yeah, when I chose Renegade and got the line, "I can throw you down on the bed, then tell me if you think it's too soft or not," that was the last emergency induction port for me. I just stopped talking to him after that.

I like Liara. :/ I've never romanced her, and I will admit that she's BioWare's favorite, but I don't see the need to go bashing her...

Still love Kaidan more of course, but Liara is my main Shep's BFF. haha

Sorry, I wasn't intentionally bashing her, I was just commenting that she's the socially awkward one who seems a little too personal at times. She's still my fifth favorite character behind Shepard, Kaidan, Ashley, and Miranda, I didn't mean to come off as insulting :?

Yes and no.

Traynor is definitely not a statement and I enjoyed her character. What rubbed me wrong about Cortez is that they throw the whole marriage thing out and then if you don't push the arc to its completion, he dies.

To me, that's sort of a ham-handed statement. It's like his writer was saying "See? You couldn't handle him enough to be his friend, so now we'll kill him. Don't you feel guilty?" For a very minor character, he had an awful lot of screen time, more than some of the major characters IMO - more than Traynor, who was also a s/s LI. I just felt that it was handled poorly.

I agree with you. Especially when she says, "that is a terrible burden!" after you tell her your reason for fighting. I wanted to reach over and slap her. I wanted to tell her constantly reminding me of how important she is during all 3 games is a terrible burden.

@Lola-you made me laugh with your post cause I felt the same way. She kept constantly bringing up friendship card over and over again. Almost got ninjamanced by her. I made sure I did Kaidan date before even talking to her on the Citadel.

Yeah, I was never really a fan of Liara until ME3. I did get the sorta jealous vibe at first, but then I saw it as her being concerned about Shepard, especially after Kaidan gets injured. Then she and my Shep were BFFs.

Harbinger gives me the lulz. Might I direct you to this lovely DJ Harbinger song?

Being socially awkward used to be Liara's thing though, way back in ME1. She's only been living around humans for about three years by the time ME3 rolls around, where she's learned and matured a lot. It's endearing to her character to be honest.
When she's not threatening to flay people with her mind, or ninjamancing you.
