Honestly I'd prefer that they take their time, even if it takes a year. Especially with something as big as this and with the reactions that they've gotten, it's best that they plot everything out. I do not want to go through another horrible set of endings. It seems like ME3 was rushed and they had to cut things out. I remember reading about this cool Palaven mission with Garrus but then it wound up getting cut.LadyofRivendell wrote...
I think, best guess if BW started working on it now, they might be able to pull off ending DLC in about 8 months, just in time for the holidays.
Maybe 6 months if they went with the Indoc theory and began the DLC after Shep wakes up, as opposed to changing the entire ending (reprogramming all of that would be a nightmare, I'd assume).
It's gonna take time no matter what, thoughKeep holding on!
On the subject of fanfics, I actually began writing one today. I feel so accomplishedNot that it's good or that I'll upload it, but hey, at least I finally convinced myself to write.

Wow I don't know what I was thinking but I thought they'd pull it together within 2 months bwahahaha okay I'm more frazzled about this than I thought. I also want quality work so I'll definitely be patient and HOLD THE LINE! The Indoc theory really is interesting though and it fits, we're handing them a good plot, I hope they go with it. I'll read your fanfic! Just post it up here! I can't get enough of them.LadyofRivendell wrote...

A ye---A YEAR?!!? Nooooo, surely they didn't demand a deserving ending like us though. I remember playing Fallout 3's ending and saying "hmm EXCELLENT I have this squadmate that can stand radioactive substances, lemme just send him in" BUT APPARENTLY THAT WOULD BE A DOUCHEY MOVE lol.....ME fans is supremely loyal...and very vocal. As for PoP, Bioware wouldn't dare pull something like that. Seeing that this the end of the trilogy and all. Offering no closure would just send fans into a RAGE. The universe will probably blow up lol. I'm quite proud that most of us is giving clear concise points as to why the ending doesn't make sense.LadyofRivendell wrote...

For spelling the word, that is. It scares me how lost I am sometimes without autocorrect or spell checker (the latter of which doesn't work on BSN for some reason). Although I don't quite trust my autocorrect either...
Just finished the Citadel Coup, love that part! And now I get Kaidan back [smilie]applewebdata://FE859220-5C72-4811-A832-EFDAAD1AA1BC/images/forum/emoticons/heart.png[/smilie] Plus a ton of Kaidan footage for me to screencap.
As for Broken Steel (Fallout 3's alternate ending) it took them about a year, I believe? Another game with ending DLC (Prince of Persia) only took them two months to do. However, PoP's new ending was an even bigger slap in the face than the original game - the devs basically said, "Remember when we told you this was going to be a trilogy? Haha, screw that, here's $10 for a 20 minute segment that is worse than our original cliffhanger and offers no closure except that we obviously can't make a sequel out of it. Haha!"

...Sad thing is, you're not that far off. Have you seen the leaked shot of Walters' rough draft of the ending?
It's basically a bunch of scribbled notes on a paper, including things like, "Shepard dies", "End of first Matrix" "Relays explode" "Speculation for everyone!" and a roughly drawn cause/effect flowchart.
iPhone woes [smilie]applewebdata://FE859220-5C72-4811-A832-EFDAAD1AA1BC/images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] I feel your pain there.

Wait really? I was just kidding lmfaolol. I don't have a proper computer (broke due to harddrive exploding..I blame sims 2 CC's taking up so much space) so I've been using my iPhone to read this thread. I don't really get a chance to see what's happening in the main boards. I can't believe they actually threw a bunch of ideas together and hoped for the best. I love how they claim they did this ending so people can speculate. SPECULATION=PLOT HOLES=RAGE. They need to chill with the "artsy" stuff. I didn't pay $90 to be bludgeoned to death in the end. My poor poor emotional well being lol.
Thank God for precedents. At least this kind of thing gives us a higher chance of getting a better ending. The thing is I don't think a lot of people can stomach playing ANY dlc that Bioware would put out unless they fix the ending. So we'll just have to wait and see what their next move is.madlily wrote...

This plot gun happened to land right next to my good hand? Smells like space magic. I wish Space Magic had taken pity on me and added a few grenades too. Maybe some medigel. LoL. Oh yeah. Anelle upgraded MAJORLY from her days of ME1 and a pistol and her biotics - she carried the M9 Avenger and the N7 Valiant.
For biotics though, I can imagine Shepard being hurt to bad for the necessary concentration - with a wounded arm as well it would be hard to utilize the physical pnuemonics biotics are trained with.
Plot gun though? Um, she lost both of hers and picked up someone's pistol from the ground? Hopefully not Kaidan's?
EDIT:PSHas anyone heard anything new recently in regards to the ending?

But yeah you, you settle down with your family and have a kid while me and Kaidan have to sacrifice everything so people like you can have a family to begin with.

If I had my ending, it would be "settling down" on the Normandy and continuing to do Alliance work. Families optional. I mean, we don't even know if FemShep CAN have kids in the first place.
Would've been a nice conversation to throw into the game with your LI, IMO.

Quite frankly, I found the whole Jacob thing distasteful. How can anyone in their right mind bring a child into the world in such uncertain times? C'mon she was a doctor, she could have prevented this. So either they were so overwhelmed by passion (douchbaggery then bec Jacob was involved with Shepard) or she did it on purpose to hook him in. THEN she has the nerve to say that Jacob loved Shepard but he's much happier with her? THEN he says that somehow he couldn't compete with Shepard's affection bec it's already tied up with the Normandy?? LoLwut? It's called DUTY. Oh Jacob, they really effed you up.

I just felt it was a cheap shot.
In my first playthrough. I told him I was there for him and not knowing I he was moving around liek everyone else, I didn't see him again, so I left it at that figuring that he was a s/s option and wouldn't be interested in femShep. Then he dies, and I find out that if you don't talk him through his grief, he dies.
With Sam, they don't do anything like that if you follow her through or not.
I didn't see any need for it. Maybe as part of the romance arc, but it just seems lopsided when compared to Traynor.
I would go further and argue that, just as you felt that ME2 was diluted by the need for all the scattered sidequests, if the "you need to resolve problem X for character Y or else character Y will DIE" device that BW gave Cortez was problematic, it was problematic due to the same issues with the repeated use of that device in ME2 (i.e. that it required you to be "collecting a bunch of random people and solving their "daddy" issues" so they would survive on their own), and not that it was problematic due to an intentional or unintentional political statement.
There's also something to be said in reflecting the personal impacts of the war, but there are many ways to implement that without turning everything into a mostly-irrelevant-side-mission—having the old lady at the embassy mourn for her son after Citadel II, for example, or the PTSD Asari who had to kill Joker's sister. On the other hand, the sidequest is such a conventional trope that I wouldn't expect BW to release a game without sidequests. I guess it's because this sort of game makes you the Most Important Character and Saviour of the World, so of course BW thinks that you want to have all the other characters depend on you for their survival even if your actions aren't clearly tied to the end-goal.
(which brings us back to why Kaidan is a well-written character: he's more self-reliant throughout the series than many other squadmates!)

Shepard coughed - she managed to inhale a heap of dust, that wouldn't help her. Her mind raced - what the hell just happened? The boy, he was glowing?... Anderson! oh Anderson... a choice - chose - chose to destroy them! Her legs, couldn't move, heavy - something on them - rubble? Suddenly the weight lifted, it was... a figure - a horned figure. He hurled the debris to one side. "take my hand" he stated, flatly. "Who the hell are you?" she demanded. A metallic voice, piercing blue eyes "You may call me... Marauder Shields" Shepard was transfixed, all thoughts of her team pushed to one side in the presence of someone so powerful. She sprang up, they mounted a giant bunny rabbit, and rode off into the sunset.

Seriously, he implied that Shepard couldn't love anything besides her work. Perfect opportunity for Kaidan to say, "Uh, yeah, no, how about you stop talking about things you know nothing about."
It's not like Shepard has to settle down, but to just say something like that, it makes Shepard just look like some galaxy saving robot rather than an actual person.

Kaidan would own him, but he'd never start the fight. Maybe he'd whisper shout at him...but more likely he'd just say something to Shepard afterwards about how he knows it isn't true.
Of course, my girl as a biotic herself would also think it was really dumb to have a biotic showdown over her...she'd probably give them both a biotic slap over the head for it.

In fact, the leak was the perfect time to get ideas back months ago. Only really dedicated fans would know about it and they asked for ideas then. Instead, it seems like they just took a lot of good parts out of that story leak and left us with this.
I would love to think it was all some elaborate ruse but I just can't see it being possible.
However, Bioware needs to make a decision soon on this. Amazon is now giving refunds to opened ME3 games. The price is falling way too soon.

One the other hand, how could they NOT know we'd be upset with the endings? That's my question. I mean, if they just gave us the Catalyst part and Shepard's end, I could see why they would think that's a good ending. But the relays being destroyed, the Normandy crashing, and the crew stranded? That's where I gotta wonder just what the heck they were trying to accomplish.
Just on a random sidenote, has anyone here ever tried an OC Quiz before using Mass Effect characters? I'm doing it right now, it's really odd to see some of the situations I'm given. Plus, it's a pick me up after all this talk about the endings again got me feeling pretty awful.

I know I don't understand what was going through their heads. Especially considering how much people loved the space battles. Why can't we have one large epic space battle? Wouldn't that make sense? I guess it's just too cliche for them, but you can't just throw a curveball end to a trilogy. If ME3 was a stand alone game then, possibly, you could go with a crazy end. But there's just no need for this!
Mass Effect was already the best video game trilogy in this decade. It might be considered the greatest space adventure game of all time. It already stood out as something amazing among its peers. Why mess with the formula??
I've thought about this for weeks now, and I just can't understand why. Why do this when it was completely unnecessary?

Is that the scene that starts "Shepard hey!" ? That struck me as amusing, at first. Kaidan sounds drugged up on some very potent meds, very chatty and un-self conscious. A bit glib and not so serious, not so measured. Even the animations add to that sense, the slightly disjointed and swaying movements. It's cute, if you don't think of why he's lying in the hospital bed.
