Major Kaidan Alenko in ME3: We're going to need a bigger boot.

For instance in Thane's scene, why would he just stand there with a pistol at the assassin's head and not shoot him when he had the drop on him? He just essentially gave away his advantage. Because they decided he should have an emotional death scene, therefore he had to die.
I could overlook all that stuff because ME has always been about the characters and the overall vibe of the story, not the rock solid plot. They should've stuck to what they are really good at.

This is a joke, isn't it?
No it's not. That page is from the Final Hours interview with Bioware. That right there is what Mac Walters and the team based the entire ending around. One sheet of notebook paper with a bunch of scribbles about speculation for everyone.
It's horrifying.
ooooh god whyyyy!? I don't think speculation from everyone at the end of an epic saga should really be the goal. Especially when speculation apparently requires tons of plot holes and nonsense.

I'm not as horribly upset with the ending as many people I've seen here. But I agree that the grand finale of an epic trilogy should not leave the audience thinking "Well, now what?"

Ehh no offence but this "indoctrination" theory is just "it was all a dream" and smells like something from Dynasty to me lol ;P Hope they don't run with it
If they do go with the indoctrination theory, they should totally have Shepard stepping out of the shower and walking into the room where Kaidan is laying on the bed just waking up and saying "Man, I just had the craziest dream."
Or maybe I just want to get to see ManShep in the shower.

I read in a thread where someone said they switched actual symbolism for symbolic storytelling at the end. I agree. They wanted to show hope by showing your friends lived and a "fresh start" on a new planet somewhere. Problem is, they just tacked it on, didn't work it into the story. When you are telling a story you literally have infinite options, you can figure out a way to put in the symbolism you want without being so jarring. It's just lazy.
Then, there's also the fact that there's so many mis-steps you can't tell what's supposed to be clues and what's just a bug. For instance, is it really a bug that your squad who appears to be dead are with Joker on the new planet?
I think the endings would be great and have worked perfectly - For a different game. But this is Bioware, they've got a long running trend of giving us games with options. The endings are so unvaried... They need some options of varying degrees.
Plus, I don't want to see the galaxy I just worked my ass off to save ruined and left as a crapsack world.
I like the Indoc theory, though, and that's my headcanon until told otherwise. I think it adds another dimenstion to the storytelling, and it'd be easier to go with "it was all a dream" than trying to fix and explain all of the plotholes in the ending. Of which there are many too many, especially for a company esteemed for their writing skills.
Whoa whoa wait wait wait what? Casey actually announced that? Extended endings are 100% for sure coming? Where? When?

On the endings, I for one can't figure out why they changed the plot midstream and switched what the reapers were about, and why they changed how the game was originally supposed to end.
I do agree that they feel... I hate to say tacked on, but they definitely don't feel like they were planned that way the entire time. And the leaked script seems to prove they weren't. I think BW probably changed them BECAUSE so many people complained about the script. See, BSN? See what your complaining does? <_< I didn't even think the leaked script was that bad, at least the parts I read. The only thing I ever objected to was the VS's mistrust, and all of that was taken out.
This whole scenario reminds me a lot of what ended up happening to Uncharted 3 last year.

Ok this is by far the most promising news I have seen yet. Casey Hudson is now saying this:
Hudson, however, noting feedback from players that the ending was too bleak,
said BioWare was working on new content that will be made available to
download online to extend play beyond the current finish of the game.
"We'll keep listening, because your insights and constructive
feedback will help determine what that content should be," he said.
"This is not the last you'll hear of Commander Shepard.
"We also recognise that some of our most passionate fans needed more
closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories,"
Hudson added.

Also, there's no official announcement yet about the endings, just one article saying he would. For all we know it might be a misunderstanding.

Indoctrination Theory could work if done correctly. The other endings besides destroy though they would have to work something out where Shep somehow snaps back to reality by someone or something. Another way is Shep being knocked out and unconscious from being seriously injuried could work if done right. Everything was a horrible nightmare. Either way shep is going to wake up in horror to find that nothing has been accomplished. They could pick up the game from awaking on the concrete ground very easily. A child could write a better story for the ending than we have now.
The only other time Shep was hit by a bright light that knocked Shep out was from Object Rho in Arrival. Shep was knocked out for 2 days. So this isn't the first time a bright light has knocked Shep unconscious.
What I was really hoping for was a big battle on Earth with all the Krogans, Turians, Assari, Rachni, Geth, and Quarians in orbit. Javik could give his little speech about being the avatar of vengence and flip the repears off. Harbinger would of been one hell of a great boss battle. With his annoying trash talking crap. They could of done a brilliant job but instead we have the stupid ghost child BS with 3 stupid choices that are BS. My shep would of said, "Go to hell" and argued with the kid. That might of looked silly an adult arguing with a ghost kid. Oh well! Well you get my point.
Edit: for grammical errors:pinched:
