Ok this is by far the most promising news I have seen yet. Casey Hudson is now saying this:

Hudson, however, noting feedback from players that the ending was too bleak,
said BioWare was working on new content that will be made available to
download online to extend play beyond the current finish of the game.
"We'll keep listening, because your insights and constructive
feedback will help determine what that content should be," he said.
"This is not the last you'll hear of Commander Shepard.
"We also recognise that some of our most passionate fans needed more
closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories,"
Hudson added.

Oh gawd...  That can't be for real.

I would be weary of the wording of Casey's statement. He doesn't specifically use the word endings. All I'm saying is after all the dissappointment and upset we should all be weary and not get our hopes up.

True, but on the other hand, I don't think I could get much lower than I currently am.

God I've been really bad at posting in this thread. Too busy raging elsewhere. Doing a second ME3 playthrough. Can't stop crying at the romance scene and the goodbye scene. WHY?!

Also wanted to say...

ughh I just tried playing ME3 MP... so bad. Somehow I ended up wasting like 500ms points then I realized I was being a fool and playing right into EA's hand but I wanted a Krogan... which I got though! But it's still crap. Quick question, Does your galaxy of war % thing carry over, like if I made a new SP game would that be at 70% from my MP stuff?
Bit off topic sorry.

Alright guys, I've got two bottles of wine, take out from PF Chang's, and no husband for the night.
Sounds like it's time for a date with Kaidan!

Or MP. I suppose that's also an excellent option.

I like your style! With today's links barely giving any hope for amendments and that awful note - I mean, come on, end of first matrix was awesome! But what you did there, Bioware, was do the THIRD matrix ending - duh, simple mistake, I know... you know, there's that first one where Neo lives and defeats the bad guys and flies off in triumph! then there's the third, he dies to save us all, breaking a cycle that has gone on for thousands of years, having chatted to some placeholder controlling being thing that controls everything and gives you choices of one option or the other...

It's just such a let down - the bulk of the game itself (if you take out lack of ME1 face import and the endings) is absolutely awesome, and I love it to bits. I just can't believe that the two parts that mattered to me - face import and the end itself - were so poor.

I think it comes from having my faith in the writers, who had done such a fab job to that point with only a few exceptions, completely shattered by an ending that made such little sense. And even IF it's indoctrination, you have to guess that that is what it is, and chances are that only ME die-hards will get the link in any case.

I thought I'd almost got over this, but no, I'm still mad. It's like an emotional plague, I've lost something that was important to me and I want it back :(

Yup, as long as you're using the same account, the readiness should be the same in all your SP games.

I think that article was just reading too much into Casey's vague PR statement. If there was absolute confirmation the forum would be exploding with happiness right now.

@Commodore Q yes, in fact as my bf account is linked to my email when he plays multiplayer both our readiness ratings go up. It's saving me a lot of MP whilst I concentrate on SP.

Coming here for a bit of comfort from fellow Kaidanites... This waiting on BioWare is just exhausting. In any other professional situation, if 90% of your clients tell you you made a mistake, you fix it. I'd be the first to agree that games are an artform, but from a developer who builds their entire communication around "we listen to the fans", suddenly pulling the "artistic integrity" card would be most disconcerting. Anyone have a cookie?

You know, if the endings were really based off of the first Matrix, I'm disappointed that Shepard can't fly at the end.

And I'm sad to say that I lack cookies, but may I interest you in a raspberry instead?

Ha, yeah I bought some points soon as I started the game so I could get a head-start on some of the MP bits, I wanted to be successful so it would help my SP campaign and give me a better ending (oh how we laugh). The percentage does show in the SP game, plus if you get a character to lvl20 you can "promote" them - that will reset that class back to 1 again (so you have to level them up all over again) BUT it'll add 100 points to your current SP playthrough.

MP starts hard, but gets easier once you get a character beyond 12 or so. I just cannot play as a vanguard on MP, I do on SP, but I am useless vanguard on MP :) current faves are infiltrator and sentinel - need to get a Quarian engineer, I had one in the demo but not got one yet in the actual game.

Yes, these are all misinterpretations of the same statement we received on Friday.

Because we know Mass Effect (and we know that single-player DLC was always coming), we can tell that Casey simply said there was more content coming down the pipe (and from everything they've said in the past, we assume it's all set prior to the point of no return).

An outsider who has to try to translate his PR doublespeak doesn't have the right context for his statements, and it really does seem like he's saying that Shepard is going to show up after the current ending.

He brought it on himself, and I have no sympathy that the media has boxed him into the position of changing the end and bringing Shepard back after the space magic show.

On the endings, I for one can't figure out why they changed the plot midstream and switched what the reapers were about, and why they changed how the game was originally supposed to end.

I do agree that they feel... I hate to say tacked on, but they definitely don't feel like they were planned that way the entire time. And the leaked script seems to prove they weren't. I think BW probably changed them BECAUSE so many people complained about the script. See, BSN? See what your complaining does? <_< I didn't even think the leaked script was that bad, at least the parts I read. The only thing I ever objected to was the VS's mistrust, and all of that was taken out.

This whole scenario reminds me a lot of what ended up happening to Uncharted 3 last year.

I guess I was kinda vague.  Originally in the first 2 games dark energy was what the reapers were about.  And the endings at that point in time for teh 3rd game were supposed to be "make a human reaper and end the threat of dark energy forever because human diversity was the key" or some crap OR "destroy the reapers and take your chances"  At some point between 2 and 3 it changed.

I was kinda curious about that little note too. Correct me if I'm totally missing something, but how does the ending resemble the end of the first Matrix at all? Shepard doesn't triumph and save everyone, nor does Shepard even live to triumph another day. The ending seemed more like the third Matrix if anything.

I do think they'll do SOMETHING, though. It's not like they're completely ignoring us and acting as if they don't care.

On a side note, I just found Conrad - Can't believe I missed him in my first playthrough!

I was startled by Conrad first pt - he saved me from a bullet and died! I almost cried... poor Conrad, he did well in the end.

They also nailed how pretentious the second one was toward the end.

I think it's an amalgam of the worst qualities of each of them.

I took James with me. I think Garrus gets preference cause he's a turian. I got dialogue about Virmire and Ashley after the mission.

Also, there's no official announcement yet about the endings, just one article saying he would. For all we know it might be a misunderstanding.

Thanks! Redid it, much better! And I have an invitation for dinner. I just hope that little visit with Liara and her box was a "just friends" thing. I can never tell with her...

Yea I know those 2 sources I provided aren't that great but I'm still holding out for some hope. However, PAX is coming and they will have to face some angry customers. Then of course you will have your kiss ass people as well.

I follow this thread and that is where I got those links http://social.biowar...ndex/10084349/1
It tends to have good info. Keeps track of BW sales dropping and PR practices. Very interesting to someone like me. I'm a dork!

Conrad died in your playthrough? That's awful! He took a "bullet" for me as well, except that the shooter's gun misfired because some other girl tampered with it prior (I think it was the girl whose sister asks you to convince her to leave her job in ME1). I got that in my last play, too, but I just found where you can talk to him prior to being shot at.

Same here, I shouted out "NOOOO!!!" when he got shot, didn't even realize it was possible for him to actually get shot in that scene.

Same here. It turned an epically sad moment into an epically hilarious moment, especially with Conrad walking off while going "You know I know Commander Shepard really well..."

The whole Conrad quest was a giant love letter to ME1 sidequests. It combines buying an Elkoss Combine license, doing a little side quest for a scientist on Feros, collecting all of the asari matriarch's writings, and getting that girl working in Chora's Den as an undercover agent out of there all in one quest. It made me freaking happy to know that all those little things piled up and made a difference and amazed Conrad at how I conveniently had everything he needed to make his research work at it's fullest potential.^_^

*le sigh* That's how the endings should've felt.:crying:

Edit: Ah top!! Here have something by ladywinde. Something about seeing all those ME1 romances together make me feel happy, especially for all the Shep's who have stayed faithful and have been waiting all this time for them to get back together.
