We're making progress. We need to get Bioware to see past their artist ego and realize what they did wrong. If we can get them to open their eyes, I think they will see what they did SO wrong.
I hope you're correct, but without them admitting how horribly the current sequence fails as a satisfactory ending to the trilogy, I can't see them doing anything but digging the trench deeper around the content they already have and forcing some dubious meaning onto it that was never actually there (and this is pretty much confirmation that it really is as bad as it seems and there was not a shred of meaning to anything that happened in those final scenes).
If they can't admit that the ending fails on nearly every level by now, what is left for us to do? For my part, I'm just going to continue on as before and voice my dissatisfaction with the ending and my belief that they have failed to deliver what they claimed we would get in the finale of an incredible trilogy, but I'm not brimming with confidence that they're going to be changing their tune anytime soon.
I know but it's still progress as I see it. As an artist, I know what it feels like to have my babies/paintings massacred. It's not fun, but at the same time I get more positive than negative feedback so I see it as a few bad apples. However, I would definitely notice if the majority had a fundamental problem with one of my paintings. And the first thing I would do is try in fix that cause, you know, I need money. Artistic integrity be damned. Plus, if a large amount of people are telling me the same thing, it's probably cause I made a mistake, not because they are all jerks who hate art.
The problem I see is that Bioware is not as open to criticism as they claim. They are defending the ending like a mother would a baby. They are looking at us like a bunch of angry bears rather than a bunch of concerned citizens who want to help. If they want to do this they can't do it begrudgingly and they have to open their minds and listen to what we are saying.
We are not just claiming the ending is a piece of garbage. We are saying the ending is a piece of garbage and insult to the series as a whole and here's why. The only way we can make them understand this is to make them look at what we've written. They've taken the first step in trying to figure out the issues. Next is the hard part, admitting you made a mistake.
Again, we are talking about fundamental mistakes not simply difference of opinion. That is the big issue here. It's like the difference between someone saying, 'oh I don't like that color there' to 'Good God, someone put a hole in your painting!'
