Not specifically related to any recent post, but I just had to say this: this may be an unpopular opinion, but I just have to say it: I don't blame Kaidan for his reaction to Shepard suddenly turning up on Horizon at all.

In fact, I have to admit, it really annoys me when people get too butthurt about him backing away from their Shepards to be rational and try to understand where he's coming from. This is one of the many reasons why I can't really read ME fanfic anymore...because so much of it is "KAIDAN WAS SO MEAN ON HORIZON MY SHEPARD CAN DO NO WRONG OMG". When Kaidan had every reason to be distrustful. I wouldn't love Kaidan the character nearly as much if he'd just been like "oh lol even though you "died" two years ago and never got in touch with me and now you're clearly working with Cerberus, the evil organization that was responsible for all sorts of monstrous acts in the first game, but! because we had sex, I will absolutely forgive you immediately for all of that, in fact, let's have sex right now."

I agree. If I were in his shoes, I would totally feel the same way he did.. But I also think Shepard was a little too passive on Horizon. I don't know. I think in the end, it should be a mutual apology, because both are in the wrong.
When Kaidan accuses Shep of feeling like she owes it to Cerberus for bringing her back...my Shep doesn't actively think that, but deep down she kind of knows Kaidan is right. And Kaidan knows her enough to be right and he's right to be wary of her joining a terrorist organization. But I also think Kaidan was a jackass to not support her decision to help out the colonists when there was no other obvious way to help them.

Overall, I think Horizon was well done. It makes me happy that they have a tender moment, it makes me unhappy that Kaidan "abandons" her, but it would be unrealistic if he was just herp derp okay with it, like crimson said. So yeah, good things do come to those who wait. Hopefully.

EDIT:

@Crimson-- not actually an unpopular option.

Most
of us do feel that he was definitely in the right about Horizon. I
don't blame him even though he made me feel sad/upset because of course,
he's right and what the hell am I doing I'M GOING TO HIT TIM IN THE
FACE (and eat some chocolate pastries and hit TIM some more)

TIM does deserve a good kick in the balls. <_<

I agree, while it hurt cause I loves him, I completely understand and probably would have reacted the same way. My shepard was very distrustful of cerberus the entire time I was "working" for them. Kaidan, Garrus and I saw what they did first hand. If the person I loved died and then came back working for essentially what I knew as a terrorist group i'd be pissed too!

To point out, Shepard doesn't even try to find another way.   We don't find out the Council won't help Shepard until Shepard has already signed her soul over to the devil and is openly working for Cerberus.  She doesn't question Cerberus' intentions, in the beginning or otherwise, she doesn't kick, she doesn't scream, she just merrily agrees to helping out because tIM says so.

As far as we can tell, Kaidan was working to stop the abductions.  He suspected Cerberus was in on it.  Had Cebrerus not sabotaged the weapon Kaidan was installing and lured the Collectors straight on top of Horizon, Horizon would have been able to defend itself (remember: the Collector ship is one ship that can be driven off by that one weapon and taken out by a frigate) and a third of the colony wouldn't have been sacrificed for tIM to get... whatever the hell it was that Horizon was supposed to gain him.

Besides, in the case of Horizon, Kaidan was right - Cerberus was behind the attack.

Edit: Really, I shouldn't try to discuss ME2.  And I should try to remember that.  Here, have this Kaidan on Intai'sei:

True true true true. hmmmmm. I guess I just liked to think that Shepard really did try to find other ways first. But yeah, that just leans me more in favor of Kaidan's opinion...where I already was leaning.

Augh, I hate Cerberus.

And thank you. ^_^ But why do you feel like you shouldn't try to discuss ME2??

I hadn't really thought of it like that. I thought the gun was just not up to speed I didn't think cerberus was the ones who messed it up for the collectors to come. Did they say that in the game? I mean I've played throught hat 4 times now and never caught that! Oh that makes me even more pissed then if tIM was sacrificing the one person I'm sure he KNEW I loved >:(

This I agree. Although,  I think both Kaidan and Shepard were wrong in some way. The real one to blame is their circumstances. They both have their good and bad reasons.

But what's happened has happened. I just hope that BioWare would give us a good way for them to patch things up without dragging it or going over-the-top.

I have... issues with ME2, most of which have nothing to do with Kaidan.  I don't really want to impact anyone else's enjoyment of it, so it's better for me not to.  XD

You could probably argue the gun as being a coincidence - it's not stated, but I thought it was implied.  That Kaidan couldn't get it running is a bit strange, especially if he's been setting these up one colony after the other (which I thought was also implied).  And tIM would have needed Kaidan to stay in one place for the Horizon trap to work on Shepard, the best way to ensure that would have been to delay him somehow.  And that EDI immediately fixes whatever problem it has is a little suspicious, even though she's something of a Magic Plot Device a couple of times throughout the game.

I thought there was also supposed to be a Cerberus mole on Horizon according to... Psh... LotSB or something?

However, tIM did set up Horizon and arrange for Kaidan to be there.  I suspect he would have been happier had the VS been abducted, but either way, I figured he was trying to drive the wedge between Shepard and the VS.

You raise very good points FireEye. Ehh, I thought everyone had some issues with ME2. Yeah, other than Kaidan..
I honestly enjoyed playing ME1 more my first time through. The storyline and everything. But ME2 is so pretty.

Vyan Shepard had a bullet with TIM's name on it.  However, with the reveals of melee, she has informed me that she now has a biotic beyotchslap waitin' for him.  Hawt&nasty things with Kaidan on TIM's corpse is optional.

I kinda am hoping that in the beginning of the game (ME3), as it's been said in the demos, once you get to the ship and Anderson leaves, Kaidan is already there and he pulls you up on the ship and you get the whole

So many questions though: why is his shirt open? Who did it? Will the wine "accidentally" be spilled across his chest and we'll be "forced" to lick it clean?
