Did anybody actually chose the "yeap this is goodbye" option during the London scene...? I can't bring myself to do it but I'm curious as to what Kaidan says? Knowing the ending, it make me sad every time to hear Shep says "when this is over, I will be waiting and you better show up"... and then to have that hope dashed :(

I did to test it out....I think I have a video on my PC at home somewhere that I could try and upload.  It cuts out a lot of the "paragon" dialogue, they just kind of accept it's the end and move on.

In their romance sequence on the Normandy choosing the bottom option actually gives you some really nice dialogoue ("I love you, Shepard.  I want to be your soft place to land.") but on earth, go paragon all the way if you want the good stuff.

Oh and all that leaves aside the possibility that you might be playing with a Shep who has a dead Cortez. My first playthrough did because I didn't realize I was supposed to chase him around the shuttle bay so I stopped looking for him after he disappeared on me. Never followed up on his arc.

So, that leaves you without a pilot who might be able to pick people up.

It's not that I want him down there in mortal danger, it's that he was already there and couldn't possibly, physically, have gotten out that fast. (That's not to mention the shower, generous application of medi-gel, and fresh change of clothes.)

Add to that the fact that, if Kaidan were alive, I don't believe he'd get on the shuttle. He'd get to the beam, period. Shep went up and he's not going to run away when he knows she might still be alive up there. He and Garrus would be holding one another up and limping to the beam, not hopping on the shuttle and flying away to safety. These are soldiers, damnit, not inexperienced civilians. They're also the people who love Shep the most, the people utterly dedicated to her and to defeating the Reapers. They aren't leaving.

I tried it once - at some point my game randomly decided to permit saves there even if it normally doesn't seem to so I have a save around somewhere just before talking to him.

As I recall though, it wasn't all that interesting - just a resigned "yep, this is it." sort of thing that then immediately goes on to Kaidan's "I have a few regrets but not many" bit. I much prefer the other option, which has a much stronger delivery and is much more aligned with the hope vibe that I tend to cling to.

on the off chance this worked.... wish that Kaidan looked like this in game instead of the hairless look he had in game and no.. we arent creepy Kaidan stalkers AT ALL
this pic from earlier in thread and some very talented artist

That's one of Jho's incredible pieces.  Notice the lack of steroidal shoulders and pecs, unlike in ME3.  :D

That's... so bleak. I still like the illusion of hope even if it didn't end up the way we wanted.

I have saves before all of Kaidan's scene so I can try the "Renegade" option for others but I can't seem to save before the goodbye scene in London so I have to start the mission again if I want to see it... bah... And obviously I wasn't going to choose the bleak Renegade option in my first playthrough.

Playing other Sheps now to test variables, I started an OP over at the Gameplay forum on getting all the possible war assets... guess that's quite the commitment... Got to test out Miri, Garrus and Liara romance though... and so far I'm glad my canon is with Kaidan, his new writer does a good job with him! Garrus is quite adorable (but that's cos of my friend's request - I can't seem to bring myself to do a playthrough dating a "bro" character), I love Miri but her content is so lacking :(... and Liara still creeps me off, I am so afraid she's going to Ninjamance me AGAIN.

Just some extras on how Protheans shaped ancient Asari history... interesting though cos it seems that others will just comment on how Athemea looking like Prothean, Javik basically confirms it :)

Well if you take Kaidan once before, then take Javik...? I also don't like how Liara is "locked" for at least 4 missions.

I don't understand why Liara is in such denial about the Protheans being such a big part of Asari history. You'd think she'd be thrilled!

I hate how everyone is so sympathetic about Thessia but no one seems to care if you have a run where you have to kill either the Quarians or the Geth. Hell, Tali kills herself and even Kaidan doesn't ask you how you're doing. That was the most devastating moment of the game for me and everyone is running around crying about Thessia.

Thank you, I think I'll take him.
And yeah as much as I like Liara, it's really annoying when you're forced to take any character on a mission. <_<

I took Kaidan with me when I did thessa.. I thought it was funny because Liara is in denial. even though Kaidan keeps pointing out how much Anthemea looks like a Prothean.

I think it goes back to the arrogance thing.  The Asari believe they are so much better than everyone in the galaxy that they couldn't have been so influenced by the Protheans.  Even though there are many other races who were.

I don't understand this either, I can understand the sympathy for Thessia in the same sense as Palavan or Earth, not the 'Oh Goddess our world is destroyed, no one has ever been through this before' mindset that comes through in the game.  Also the fact that Kaidan rarely if at all (not going back through all my videos to confirm sorry ) shows any concern over Shepard's mindset except in the final romance scene.  I would have thought he would be right there with Garrus and everyone else trying to make sure Shepard stays on the up side of things, reiterating throughout the story that she is not alone in this.

Gah the more I think about it, the more problems I find with the game, story and everything... I really need to quit thinking about this so much and go back to suspension of disbelief.

I noticed the lack of concern as well and it really bothered me b/c it's a 180 from how he was in ME. Yeah, war changes people, I understand that more than most, but I doubt it would change him to the point that he only worries about Shepard half the time. Also, why wasn't there an "I love you" during the goodbye scene?

I can't really figure that out. Now obviously after Thessia, it is going to be Liara that is most effected. And of course the crew is going to be devastated, it wasn't just Shepard's "failure" it was all of them, because they are totally loyal to her, they are going to place blame on themselves as well. This team has NEVER failed. As for who comes to Shepard afterwards, I guess maybe it's because Kaidan trusts her enough to believe if she needs him, she'll COME to him. Which in my opinion, should be an option! I'm ok that he doesn't come running to check on her, because there are some negative connotations to that if he did. People would be upset that he thinks she's somehow weak. I wouldn't, most of us probably wouldn't but there it is.

But there should be an option for HER to go to him for a scene, just a talk even. There was one after Jacob's mission I just discovered, which makes it even stranger.

But Garrus and Joker being the ones that come to Shepard, well they are the only two that have been with her every. single. step. Even Kaidan wasn't. These two, to me, probably have an even stronger bond with her through camaraderie and friendship, at this point, because Kaidan and Shep are having to get to know each other again, that reunion wasn't exactly smooth...and they are still figuring things out and that is ok too. I'm at least glad it's them.

Very valid point, and I can accept that, thank you for sharing.  Like you, I to don't understand why we don't have the option to talk to Kaidan about what happened on Thessia.  I can also see that Garrus and Joker might be more outspoken due to the events and their participation in ME 2.

Thank you.

This is my first time entering this thread, so it's uncharted territory for me, but I have a question:

For those of you who have a ME3 playthrough where Kaidan lives, and a playthrough where Ashley lives, does Kaidan have more conversations after he gets back on the Normandy? Ashley only has like 2 after that. Or are they pretty much the same, with the Zaeed/Kasumi style dialogue?

I haven't got a save where Ash is alive, but judging from your description it sounds like they have about the same.

Ok

I was assuming that they were about equal. I just don't know if it would be worth it to play through the games again just so I can hear whatever few lines he has to say. I just never really bothered with Kaidan. Either save the hot chick or the boring dude.

I have heard people saying that he tends to roam around the ship more and talk to the other characters, and that Ashley tends to stay isolated.

I think they've been chalking that up to Ashley's original writer having left and her replacement not being very good at writing for her. That makes it sound to me like Ashley became the hot, boring chick while our so-called "boring" dude is still the same awesome dude all of us here love. Posted Image

That was another thing, Ashley stays in the same room all by herself the entire time. No interaction at all.

Hmm, let's see... There's the scene with Kaidan and Engr. Adams post-Thessia, a funny scene with Kaidan and Vega playing poker... and that's about it on my playthrough. Did anyone else have other encounters?

I don't see Kaidan on the citadel other than the romance-lock scene.

Concerning the suicidde plot here's what post form 4chan said (you can check it out in spoilers section---possible leak----page 25):

"- BioWare has been meaning to introduce a main character suicide plot element for some

guilt over the death of the other, but this idea was discarded when the director felt
that it would be too forced, and that players would feel as though BioWare simply
killed them off so that they wouldn't have to deal with their character branches
    anymore."

so if this is true it seems it was dropped. But i really doubt this. You can read it tho. If the whole leaked story is true then it's really streched... and bad <_<

if they hadve done that in this game regardless of the endings, I would never ever ever ever ever  buy another Bioware game again ever!!

Lamest plot device ever!!

I know its hard for people at the moment but its a wait and see game at the mo... fanfic and chocolate helps alot... just sayin, oh and this thread hehehe :innocent:

I just read the leak and for the life of me it makes no sense. I mean, why would the team need to fly around the galaxy looking for bits of Shepard to rebuild her? (Unless I've completely misunderstood... which is possible since I'm hung over lol.) And Shepard being advent? I don't get it, does that mean they'd rebuild her but she'd become the terminator and try to kill everyone? Sorry for my stupidity lol.

Man they better not kill of the VS... they better not let any of them kill themselves.

gah the whole leaked dlc ending crap just looks like worse crap than the original ending if it is true....:?:crying:

and with the icing on the cake being my me3 being jacked up by origin....i don't know what i'm going to do.

Jumping in on the conversation about crew/Kaidan not showing too much concern about Shepard. Well, Joker and Garrus aside (and if you go back to talk to Tali after talking to Liara about Thessia she'll kinda show she's concerned about Shepard too). I thought it was a very good opportunty for some "I care about how you're feeling" chatting with Kaidan...but no. =_= I also kinda wanted more...couple talk with Kaidan. Knowing that this could all be their last go around, you would think they'd be taking every moment possible to talk...maybe flesh out more how Kaidan was doing during those two years of thinking her dead, that whole doctor-date thing, yaddayaddayadda...

I don't know whoever wrote the romance scripts and whatnot, but I wanna say it wasn't a girl or at least a team primarily composed of guys. Because it's been my experience as a girl and hearing from other girls playing games that girls tend to think of so much more that can be done with a romance. XD I know I was thinking of opportunities for more while I was playing so...ME3 left a little more to be desired out of the romance.

Off topic but kind-of good news: The ME1 Face import bug is going to be fixed! Yaaaaaay.

I already got my ME1 Shep's face code using Modio and Gibbed (as suggested by Priestly in a thread somewhere), but I'm curious to see if my Shepard would look exactly the way he did in 1 if I try this out.

More worryingly is that the space child essentially takes over Shepards body and pretends to be Shepard, so when your LI wants sexy time he/she is essentially being seduced by a child... the bloody star kid is getting it on with your LI. It's all kinds of wrong!

I really wish people would stop "leaking" things. I have a serious suspicion the jackedupness of the endings was in large part due to the earlier leaks and the team trying to adjust by cutting things out to maintain the "surprise". But I'll just stick with "believe it when I see it" seems to be the safest bet at this point.

Question for everyone here...I've spent the last few evenings replaying ME3 trying to get the post-Citadel dinner "You left without waking me" dialogue bit between Kaidan and FemShep, with no luck. Not having any enthusiasm for playing all the way through to the craptastic endings I'm trying to establish a canon playthrough with all the wonderful little moments in the game before then. I'm running a Shep that romanced Kaidan in ME1, was faithful in ME2, bought the gift and visited the hospital, etc. I can get him in that lounge chair where I see the convo happening on YouTube but can't get that lovely bit of dialogue to play. Can anyone who has gotten that to trigger give me some pointers? Missions that I may need to complete before it triggers or that will lock it out? Other conversations that I may need to pick up first (I have the gazing-out-the-window/missing Dad one already)?

Just a minor obsession :) Makes headcannoning the ending easier.

Thanks!
