OK, I'll search tonight - now I am supposed to work... :innocent:
OK, a promise made is a promise kept.
You can find a whole playthrough of Mass Effect 1 in french here : maleshep, but you can here Kaidan in it.
If you want to hear femshep, here is a Mass effect 3 femshep walkthrough - but with Ashley.
I'm curious to know what you think of those voices. In the very first one, I think that Kaidan (Alas), Anderson and Udina are terrible, but Joker, Nihlus and maleshep are OK. And Oh my god femshep's voice is even worse than I remembered !
Anyway, I'm hoping that once I find a job and actually have money to spend I can find a pre-owned English copy of ME somewhere.
(Soryy for the french post - I just explained that it was easy to change the language from french to english in ME1 and ME2)

French Nihlus is good Joker its kind of funny French Kaidan
Troy Baker voices Kai Leng, whom I hate, he also voices my favourite companion in SW:TOR, if I can seperate the two why the hell can't a journalist?
Just wanted to throw that out there, all of the reasons he states for his hatred of Kaidan are the same reasons why I love the character, but hey, I'm a heterosexual female in reality..perhaps that makes a difference...
If it makes you feel any better, my husband actually thinks Kaidan is awesome for several reasons: 1) he has his poo poo together, 2) he doesn't obsess over the past, and 3) he's a good guy. Of course, my husband often tosses around the Carth thing as a joke, but he can easily separate both characters. Ultimately, my husband says Kaidan is his mShep's "bro."
Lol, my husband too . He kept Kaidan alive for his Miranda-mance playthrough (did Genesis because he couldn't actually kill Ashley, he's such a secret softie). He's doing that ME3 run now (stoping at the beam of course, because OMGWTF ENDING). He's taking Kaidan and Vega everywhere and keeps talking about his "Bro Squad" and his "Ship of Bros." It's quite cute .
Lol Bro Squad, if only I were a comic book artist or animator, I could totally run with that lol
Before Kaidan was a squadmate in ME3, I used to play with EDI and Liara - with my femshep I felt like a Charlie's Angel
Lol my bf's squad is always liara and edi, he says its because he always plays a soldier and need tech and biotic support, i say he just likes the eye candy! Which works well for me, as i drag kaidan everywhere i can for his biotic techskills eye candy
Tess Shepard: Are you flirting with me LT? Kaidan: Ummm...I mean...uhhh...
Haha, awkward shyness gets me every time
Love this picture, arw how I miss Kaidan already, I wish there was a constant Mass Effect game episode where you could tune in to play a different episode everyday xD Maybe that sounds wiered but I just think Kaidans character is sooo addictive
yoshibb wrote... I will say the side missions in this game are extremely lacking. Mass Effect had so many side quests that weren't just kill the baddies and win. I miss those. I hated the scan quests for the citadel. How was I supposed to know where I even got the quest? And those 'one squadmate hacks, the other fights with you' were so lame and overdone. Why can I pick James to hack despite the fact that he obviously knows nothing about it and it will be the same as when Tali does it?
Just another example as too much action not enough RPG I guess.
We can almost say that there weren't any side quests besides the N7 ones (and Grissom Academy or whatever it was called). I honestly think that some aspects of the game were...rushed.
They had to spend all of their extra time writing that amazing ending.
I have a question. Does anyone know if this whole "Take back Mass Effect" movement has a public document? I'm talking like a mission statement, petition, type thing? My next assignment for my Rhetoric Composition class is analyzing public documents. I'd LIKE to use the current situation with ME3 as my subject, as it's something I understand, and am sort of a part of.
I believe there is a Google doc out there with a bunch of stuff on it, I'll go fiddle through the thread and see if I can find it for you.
Happy to help I can't imagine being able to play in a different language -- I might be able to understand Shep ask for directions to the bathroom but that'd be about it. Are the french voices all horrible?
I played the french version only for the first game - but I heard the dubbing was worse in ME2 and ME3.
Some of them are OK I think. In the first game, I liked Garrus, Liara's and Wrex voices, for instance. I eventhink that I like Wrex voice better in french. Tali has no accent in the french version.
The french femshep is OK for the action, or when she's not happy, but when she tries to sound nice, or flirty, it is awful. She is just ridiculous. And anyway, I'm in love with Jennifer Hale's voice and acting.
As for Kaidan, he always sounds like an enthousiast boyscout. Very "sir yes sir", even in the intimate scenes. It just sounds... wrong. And he has nothing of the warmth of Sbarge's voice.
Another problem is the traduction : sometimes too litterate, or confusion between femshep/maleshep lines.
I can try to find some youtube examples, if you're curious ?
I just can't play in French. I always play all my games - especially RPG games - on English version.
The problem in France is that video game acting is considered as "low-acting". I don't know how to say it in english, but basically, it feels like editors for french version only recruit beginners and the worse dubbing actors possible.
Ok Wrek is alright. But listen to FemShep in french. It just horrible.
WTF ?! I don't know the name of the actress, but she should find another line of job.
Anytime I find french versions of VG on youtube, I feel ashamed. Those people never learned how to say something without reading it ? And they call themselves actors ? I don't know, I never attended drama-lessons in school, but in French lesson, I did learn not to "recite" something when I am supposed to play a role.
This is the second or third convo Shepard has with Kaidan aboard the Normandy in ME1. That's.... well... no word for it. It's just ridiculous.

ROFL
I really LOVE how Kaidan was done in this game. The emotion of the interactions and that stages of their relationships. I love how at the beginning, you can tell he's still hurt and angry and distrustful, but wants to trust her again and return to how things we between them. I love development in his character--not only through the saga but even just in this game alone. He's such a deep character. It always seems like there is more to learn about him. And he's just so darn sweet. You know why a lot of men don't like him? Because he's the epitome of what a man should be like and they don't want to have to live up to his example.
One thing that's taken a little bit for me to get used to is how they've made him more causasian. In ME1 he looked a bit more exotic--the slightly oriental eyes and the darker skin, etc. Now he looks more euro-mediteranean in origin. But he's always hot.

Couldn't have said it better myself ...that Kaidan *sigh*

About that, what do you think are Kaidan's ascendencies ? Alenko sounds east-european, maybe russian...
I know my hubby is a bit jealous--cause he makes little jokes about Kaidan sometimes. But he shouldn't be sore. I mean, Kaidan's gotten him sex on more than one occassion.
And I totally agree, Josie. Kaidan just wouldn't be the same without that voice to go with it. The way he voices Kaidan just exemplifies the sweet/shy/sexy thing.
@Kaidan's nationality of origin: We combed throught his at length a couple of years ago on the original thread. We thought that probably some Asia since he was born in China, with the ubiquitous Euro/Indian mix of the Mass Effect era.
But now, he's lost the asian eye shape, so I'd say more Euro-Mediterranean (Euro having the Euro/Indian mix)

This playthrough is going to just...SUCK. Becaue Tess is going to romance Garrus in ME2, and NOT romance anyone in ME1. In fact, saving Ash this time >.<
It wouldn't be the same in any other language. The VAs make the characters. Femshep wouldn't be femshep without Hale and Kaidan wouldn't be Kaidan if he wasn't voiced by Sbarge. I prefer subtitles over a dubbed game.
I wouldn't mind an Alenko version with Sbarge speaking french, though.

I'm replaying the game on insanity and while I was doing the Eden Prime mission Liara was hovering right in the center of the walkway while Cerberus was approaching and she instantly died and got stuck... in midair. So I took a pic with my phone:
Bear in mind Kaidan is running around killing troops while I'm staring at Liara.
