I don't think ME3 overdid anything, sexually. Most of the suggestive things seemed to be fan call outs, easter eggs, and jokes. Compared to something like Bayonetta, ME3 is practically a PBS Children's show.

As for Kaidan's comment, I just took it in kind of a joking, poking fun way. Didn't really read that much in to it.

All I can say on the topic of Kaiden as a "love interest" is I wanted the love story between my FemShep and Kaiden to work out soooo bad!  I made Shep completely loyal all the way through 3 games (which is no easy feat with some of the run away dialogue choices), and played both 1 and 2 so many times to make sure that I imported the perfect character into ME3.  I felt as though I had to make sure that everything was right from the get go to be confident that nothing would stand in the way of my perfect love story (sad, right?).

I entered Mass Effect 3 with high Paragon and a level 30 character, passed all the personality checks, and ultimately won back the affections of Major Alenko (woo!).  Finally, Shep and Kaiden do not have to hide their love on the Normandy.  It's like just when everything is so close to working out for those two, it's over!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game through and through, but the fact that the story worked out the way it did for my two lovebirds was a swift kick in the proverbial bollocks. *oof*  I felt like I needed to go watch "The Notebook" with a bottle of Jack for about 3 days after my first play through.

....And he really does have a nice digital butt.

Yeah I agree, I was the same as you, made sure I had the perect ME1 & ME2 Playthroughs, ready for ME3. I loved the Kaidan romance in ME3 and thought arw this is great! But yeah after that goodbye in London with Kaidan I thought. I really hope we both survive this and we do see eachother at the end of the game, that would be just perfect! Posted Image

But no, the complete opposite happens! Posted Image

And yeah Kaidan does have a GREAT virtual Butt!Posted Image Loved that part!

Kaidan does make a passing comment to Shepard about the Ardat-Yakshi, something like he'd be hopeless to resist them or something. I found it quite odd, especially I was romancing him as a mShep at the time. Does he mention them to a femshep?

He does. I just imagined my FemShep giving him a smirk and a shake of her head.

LOL yeah that was one of the 'where is my smack him upside the back of his head' button moments.

I would love that as a mod!   There are several people I would like to smack upside the head.....but I guess most of them work at Bioware....

Kaidan also made some comment on the Normandy to me about some asari being hot or something. This was right after we'd had our Citadel dinner date and professed our love for each other. I was like, seriously?? Insensitive much? lol. I found it funny though.

If the dialogue for Ken and Gabby wasn't bugged, I'd be using Kaidan instead of Ash. Would like to see him do his thing throughout ME3. But unfortunately, Ken and Gabby like Ashley to be on the Normandy - and me to be friends with her - before they even say a word to eachother(or me) -.-

Hi there, fellow Kaidanites!
I don't know if this was discussed before, but I'd like to ask something.
Is there any acknowledgment of Kaidan romance from Normandy's crew (apart form Javik)?
I just finished my second playthrough and only then I discovered the lovely banter between Shepard and Kaidan and wakening him up next time
I wonder if I missed anything else.

Re: Kaidan comment about the asari and Ardat-Yakshi: I feel that even if he is in a relationship with Shepard (male or female), it doesn't make him immune to or forbid him from appreciating other people. Even in a MShep romance playthrough, he tells you about Rahna in ME1 and doesn't seem to have a sexual preference, I don't find it that strange. A bit like the flirting with Vega, I just thought it was funny.

I found the comment about EDI and the ardat yakshi to be a bit ooc for Kaidan. Overall I was slightly disappointed in the romance arc. Garrus showed more concern for Shepard than Kaidan did, but I guess that's because we are forced into having Garrus as our bestest buddy in the whole universe whether we like it or not.

Favourite Kaidan line : Don't Kaidan me, this is business
Worst line in the game : Theres no Shepard without Vakarian Posted Image - this one made me really seethe, lol

@ekkaja.marta - this is another of my pet peeves that no-one ackowledges Shepard and Kaian's relationship

I agree that the Ardat Yakshi comment was a bit out of character. Wouldn't have bothered me to hear from any other LI, but it didn't seem like Kaidan.

I also wish Kaidan had shown a bit more concern for Shep in the game. Just small pieces of dialogue where he asks how she is and what she thinks about things, or just having him react when Shepard falls down (which she does quite a lot in ME3) and help her would make all the difference.

I love the "Don't Kaidan me, this is business." I really like that the conflict from Horizon was still there.

Yeah, I never took a issue with the ardat-yakshi comment. The one that made me facepalm was "She looks good though" in regard to EDI. By that point I had already taken a issue with how blatantly oversexualized EDI's body was (Miranda replacement? She's got a cameltoe and everything) so I wasn't particularly amused with that comment.

The lack of acknowledgement towards the romances was pretty disappointing, yes.

Man I hated that no on but Javkis acknowledges Shepard/Kaidan or a Shepard/ Ashely romance. It also made me feel that comment about EDI and Ardat yakshi to be a bit out of place for Kaidan to say, This is what were talking about Bioware, when we say you assassinated your characters in ME3, Thought, I also don't understand why the writers decided to go that route. And they say they have artistic integrity as a writer myself I would never let the fans dictate what goes as a romance in the story I created with my own thoughts and ideas. So making a Garus or Tail romance-able character is cheeping that Character.

Yes, they are.

Referring to other members of the crew acknowledgement of relationship with Kaidan, I recall that apart from Javik Steve aka Esteban also mentions that he knows about that relationship while talking to him in the Purgatory but... that's it.

I don't think they assassinated the ME3 characters. I think most of them were kept pretty much in character and overall I'm happy with how BW handled the characters in ME3.
The major problem character-wise in my opinion was that some LIs did not get enough attention (Thane, for example), how they handled Jacob (poor Jacob romancers), and that BW didn't always keep the little things in mind (like giving your LI priority when helping Shep up after a fall).

I'm very happy with what BW did with the Kaidan and Garrus romances in ME3, and I appreciate that they do fan service. The things I complain about in Kaidan's romance are details that would have been nice to have to make the romance perfect, but it's still a good game without them.

Kaidan's Ardat-Yakshi and Edi comments didn't bug me either. I mean, with all of the flirting that FemShep does (lol Vega), Kaidan's entitled to a couple of googly-eyed moments.

As far as the acknowledgement of the relationship, it's pretty dry for FemShep in general I think. I just played through the Garrusmance, and the only crewmember to say anything there was Jack I believe ("Bite me Garrus! Better yet, bite HER. I bet she likes that!"). Oh, and Tali tells her to "watch out" when Garrus mentions that he has Turian chocolate. Really, that's it.

Joker also acknowledges the relationship if you try to flirt with him in the bar. When he's talking about Edi and wanting a relationship with her, if FemShep's like, "What about me?", Joker responds, "Chain of command, Shepard. I'm not Kaidan."

Also, we got butt shots. So we win!

Yeah, there are a few things they could've done better, but I don't think they character-assassinated anyone.  Kaidan swears a lot more.  A LOT more.

I agree that they didn't give the LI's enough attention.  Thane-mancers (like me) get to kiss him once and that's the only difference between the people who romanced him and those who didn't.  Even when he DIES you don't get any more dialogue.  They cut how a romancer could already know the prayer.  Jacob-mancer's got screwed.

Yes, they are.

WOO!

so, what does everyone think happened after whatever choice they made?

Destroy: Does Kaidan ever meet Shepard again? <-- if i saw that scene i would have cried so much.

Control: Does Kaidan see the catalyst Shep?  <-- Kaidan romancing a ghost? O.o

Synthesis: That leaves a lot open, but the idea what my Shepard is part of Kaidan forever. D'awwwwwww <3<3<3And if they somehow cloned Shepard then that would be so adorable seeing them together again  Though cloning seems a bit far-fetched ;)

Maybe it's because I rushed through the game, but I don't remember that comment. If I did hear it, I think I just brushed it off and didn't think he meant anything romantic by it.

Yeah, they did make Kaidan's asari comments a little contradicting. In ME1, other than the "hot fetish" comment with Lorik, I never got the impression that he was into asari...at least with a romanced fShep - which is all I play.  However, I think he mentions something about Liara ("I saw her first"/"But only by a few seconds" - or something like that) if you play as mShep in ME1.

*shrug* Whatever, in my head canon, he's only into my fShep so it's all good. Posted Image

He does say that to FemShep.  It's no big though, he's just trying to make her jealous...  That Ardat-Yakshi ain't got nothin' on my Shep!  ;)

In my head canon, Shepard is indoctrinated and anything but "destroy" leads to her losing the war and Kaidan. "Destroy" leads to a very romantic (and smexy) reunion with Kaidan and a long and happy life together. And yes, when they met again I would bawl my eyes out.

I think Kaidan's Ardat-Yakshi and EDI comments were funny.

But I would have loved if Shepard had said something like this after his comments...

Shepard: Hey!!! *smacks Kaidan on the head*
Kaidan: Shepard!! *laughs his cute laugh* I was only kidding. You know you're the only one for me.
Shepard: Mmhmm...
Kaidan: Get over here and let me show you that you are the only one for me. *tries to grab Shepard by the waist*
Shepard: *moves away* I just remembered. Vega asked me to train with him. So I'll be on my way. But I sure do hate how distracted I get when he takes his shirt off..... *runs off before Kaidan has a chance to say anything*

:P
