Yes, I think Kaidan romance is very well done in this game. After what we got in ME2 and two years of worrying I'm very happy with what we got. That said I wish there were more references to romances form others but it is a minor detail.
The Mars mission is one of my favorite it is so obvious that there is strong feeling between the two of them (this is where Liara says about the 'terrible burden', right?)
On endings: I won't even try to speculate, because they don't exist for me :pinched: I guess I'm still in denial

THE BREATH LAUGH!

I love that!

When i hear Kaidan do that little laugh i just feel like...

*collapses into gay coma*

Oh I know!!! I love his laugh.

I especially love that part in Mars where Shepard punches his arm and says he was always so stubborn and Kaidan laughs and says, "Meee?"

I totally melted right there.

I really wish I knew how to make a soundboard for Android. I just extracted all the Kaidan conversations and boy, I'd love to have some of these on my phone.

Definitely, his romance is well-done, nonetheless there are a few areas in which improvements could be made, like e.g. while on Thessia, the cinematic with Leng - why is it Liara, not Kaidan, who helps Shep to get out of the hole? Later, why isn't Kaidan checking on Shep after this mission? Also, more dialogue scenes with him would be appreciated, like one about his Spectre ceremony or about his time without Shepard as the latter was dead. Maybe those are not that necessary, yet they add to the interaction.  Those are just my thoughts.

It also would have been nice to have some comments from both Shep and Kaidan about Horizon while they were actually on Horizon, lol.

Because Liara was the assigned squadmate for this mission. But a few more little encounters with Shepard would've been nice indeed :)

Vernrev, I agree with you that adding those things would be great. But at the same time I still have to experience a 'perfect' romance in Bioware game, there is always something missing (lack of animation, certain conversation etc.) I used to obsess about it in DAO. It didn't however diminish the experience. There is only hope that with each new game we will get more details in romances that will make the experience more satisfying.
For now I'm happy with Kaidan romance (and that it didn't end like ME2 romances).

Interestingly, Liara also says the "terrible burden" line to a Shep who has never romanced Kaidan too, but there's no looking at Kaidan when she says it, so it's taken more in the context of everyone instead of specific someone.

My sheps will all destroy Harbinger's attempt to indoctrinate them, then they'll wake up and...

Shep gets up, slaps on some medigel, grabs Kaidan and Garrus and the team make it to the beam and get teleported to the presidium commons again. They zoom up to the council chambers, Shep punches a button on the council control panel (as she did in ME1) and blows up the Reapers.

And they all live happily ever after (cue triumphant happy joyful uplifting music)

Edit: would be awesome if someone brought them a Mako so they could land in the middle of the Apollo Cafe in the Mako. Then up to the council thingie etc.

Yet when it comes to DAO, modding was allowed and even encouraged due to release of the creation kit. It's a shame that when it comes to ME, any modding attempts, at least in multiplayer, get you even banned. Nonetheless, I hope there will be at least a few mods dedicated to Kaidan, and maybe in the future DLC's we'll get more of him.
...although something like "Kaidan DLC" would be much appreciated :D

When it comes to the Ardat Yakshi thing, all I have to say is that I remeber how, no matter how Paragon or Renegade they were, none of my Sheps could resist Morinth, and they all needed Samara to keep her from making them into mental goo. If none of my Sheps could resist Morinth when all of them were very strong-willed and very devoted, then what makes anyone here think that Kaidan could resist a determined Ardat Yakshi?

Nah, I give him a pass for that one. After all, my Shep has been there, done that. She knows.

And while I've finally gotten the Cerberus cut scene after saving Brynn and her scientists ... oh, yeah, and Jacob, I still have yet to get the convo where he asks me why I didn't wake him. :(

I will say that this time, I keep poking him until he gets to his repeat line, and if you do that, he does sometimes ask you how you're holding up, or tell that you look like you're doing well or other little comments that make me think he is worried about how Shep is holding up. But, you have to keep bugging him.

Well now.... I'm extremely PO'd... now apparently I can't play MP with any of my friends with the regular version of ME3... I'm seriously about completely fed up with Bioware/EA. I have yet to have any help what so ever with any of the issues I've been having and the fact that their product get's worse over time is telling.

Maybe its jsut the way I see Kaidan, but I believe he just wouldnt put himself in the position where he has an Ardat-Yaksi on the laps and needs to do a will test against her. Kaidan is the smart type who usually knows what battles to pick.

I guess there are a lot of us who need a lot more Kaidan than the game can offer.

Looking through the threat and I have to quote this one for awesomeness. This is how i want my ending to look like!

Now that Kaidan knows what an Ardat-Yaksi is about, he'll stay away from them. And during ME3, most of them were wiped out to be turned into banshees, except for one (if one played the paragon route), so I don't he has to worry about that part.

It a genetic condition. New ones could still be born. Oh wait... the ending pretty much destroyed everything.

Good news! Space magic took care most ofthe Ardath Yakshi risk ! :wizard:

Yeah, but I don't think you always get a choice where an experienced Ardat Yakshi is concerned. Morinth's last victim was a shy girl who really wasn't the sort to put herself into harm's way either. Granted, she was also completely inexperienced when it came to romance, but it wasn't like she was out trolling for someone like Morith to come after her.

Ardat Yakshi are experienced predators. If one really wanted to go after Kaidan, she'd know how to do it.

Ashley is just abrasive which some people don't like. I personally enjoyed talking to her, but I can see how her personality might turn people off. It's certainly better than the excuses for hating Kaidan.

"He's whiny!"
"He's boring!"
"He isn't loyal to me!"

You mean he gives his backstory, he's not an alien, and he doesn't blindly follow your every command. Yeah, those normal people really get on my nerves <_<

I haaate how much crap the VS gets. I didn't realize how unpopular Ash was as well because I was more concerned with Kaidan, but jeez. Both of them get torn apart just because they don't blindly follow Shepard and choose to question Shepard instead (which I think is perfectly valid, given the fact that Shepard died, and then joined a terrorist organization).

Honestly I like the human characters better than the aliens. I don't hate the aliens at all, but I have a special spot for the humans. Especially Kaidan. :P

I love the Mars mission SO MUCH.

I agree. That is why my Femshep can never cheat. I never considered watching the YouTube video's though. The human characters hit home, in real life I would never go after somebody I am not attracted to and I am not attracted to Aliens lol Kaidan was there in the beggining, and was well integrated.
It's like in Dragon Age going after anybody but Alistair. I can not do it no matter how I try. Or going for NOBODY in DA2 because they are just as ugly as the aliens. (Except Sebastian...but most people do not count him.)

You guys might have already discussed this, but were you at all disappointed with how little he had to say once he got on the ship? He had all sorts of interesting things to discuss with you in the first game, but you guys haven't hung out in about three years. He might know what you've been up to, but I feel like he should have more to say about everything.

I had no trouble going after Zevran with an elf in DA:O ... well, I did have a little trouble because Alistair is just to appealing, but I was glad I did it in the end. Zevran can be appealing, too.

And in DA2, after getting getting burned by Anders the first time through and having to knife him, I went for Fenris after that. Whatever I thought about how they made elves look (enormous retcon there BioWare), it was easy to overlook after listening to that voice. And the way there was that hint of, erm, spice in the relationship, sort of like we got in the locker scene with Kaidan, the way he forcefully pulls you up against him ... oooo, yeah. After romancing Fenris once, I couldn't imagine going back to Anders.  Posted Image

That's why my headcanon thinks that Kaidan my seem like a very restrained fellow, but when you get him to let go ... LOOKOUT!
