But happy Shenko ending? YES. Seriously, I do not understand what the ME3 team had against a happy ending; they gave us one in DA:O, they might as well give us one in the ME series too...

Seriously! Make it happen, BioWare. I found him way more attractive than all the LIs in DA2 anddd I wanted to know more about his character. I think it was partly because he was a familiar face as well, since we met him in DA:O.

I know. I was surprised they didn't offer at least one happy ending. Like in DA:O, if you wanted to make the big sacrifice at the end and have a bittersweet ending, you could. But if you wanted to also be happy with your LI you could do that as well. Variety is the key.

Makes me want to replay DA:O now. haha.

Ahh I love Cullen as well. I really, really hope he's an LI in DAIII. Because my mage wanted that back in DA:O and my Hawke *definitely* wanted that in DA2. I'm going to be disappointed if he's not in DA3.

I am really hoping BioWare announces some more about the ending controversy at PAX. I wanted my happy ending with Kaidan agdjsfkd.

That and it was already bittersweet with the deaths of close squadmates and all the other poeple/races killed or sacrified/ lost along the way to get to the end.

But that's just my take ;)...

I might ponder on DA3 (and yes I'd go after Cullen too hehe) but...i might pass on it, if i have to wash my hands of Bioware all together...depending on what they do.

Honestly, I don't think I have the willpower to not get DA3. I mean, I still enjoyed DA2 even despite the overused environments and less strategical combat. Even though BioWare completely screwed up (in my opinion) with the endings of ME3, they make games that I really enjoy. I like character-oriented games. I'm not a big fan of games like Skyrim, and I'm not really sure of other companies that make games like BioWare does.

That being said, DA3 might be my last BioWare game. Really depends on how well they do with it.

I fear that including Cullen in the ME universe would require certain adjustment, so from being a templar he would become... a justicar? My guess is that this is the closest relative of templar class. And then... would he be an Asari?

It would be terrifying if the indoctrination theory came true... because I supposed BioWare to be honest with their fans, that is providing them with complete products and here it could imply that the starchild ending was just an introduction to the actual one, released purposefully as a paid DLC.
Regardless, I want Kaidan and my Shep to be together and be happy in the end :P

Same! I tried playing Fallout 3 and it didn't work. I like how Bioware creates an epic story that is character oriented.
Unfortunately, I am only getting DA3 if the issue with the ending of ME3 is addressed somehow. That ending was ridiculous. I really can't understand how the same company that made an amazing ending, and gave us so much options for DA:O made such a linear and...incomplete ending for ME3.

All I want is a reunion scene between my Shepard and Kaidan...:crying:

That's my take on the situation, too. DA2 was disappointing for me only in the character aspects - There wasn't a single person in the game who I felt emotionally attached to. I killed Isabela, Fenris, and Anders on my first playthrough without even caring... Of course, I went back for a "perfect" save to import, but no one really got through to me, not even Hawke.

Cullen sort of reminded me more of Alistair and Kaidan, the quiet guy who could fall head over heels for you. I'd be totally fine with him coming back in DA3 :D

I tried Oblivion and Skyrim. I got farther in Skyrim than Oblivion but ultimately I didn't like that there aren't deep relationships with the characters. I mean, yeah, they have a bajillion more characters than the ME universe, but I like having a smaller amount of characters with interesting dialogue. I loved how in DA:O you could talk to your companions whenever. I remember having my Warden kiss Alistair randomly. Usually after they had a bloody battle and I wanted to commemorate not dying. :P

Yeah. I would really like for them to either nix the whole destroy, control, and synthesis endings, but I think that's too much to hope for. More realistically, I'd like them to add something after the destroy ending where your squadmates/LI find your body under the rubble and help you back to safety. Just one more scene where everyone is reunited. Maybe even finish with Shepard and the victory smile a la Mass Effect.

It's a lot to hope for though, but godddd I want Kaidan and Shep to be happy.

I think the only character I was emotionally attached to was Isabela. I like her personality a lot. I don't think I've had a playthrough where my Hawke hasn't at least had a fling with her (although she is the easiest companion to do so with, but still). Wasn't a big fan of Merrill or Fenris -- Fenris died in my first playthrough. Anders died in my second.

Yeah, I agree with you about Cullen though. I really loved how he always had a thing for the Mage in DA:O but never made a move on it. I need to make another playthrough and download that mod that has the Mage kissing him in the hallway. heh.

I'm glad to see so many of you here like Cullen too. :D I loved DA2, (despite its flaws) so it would really take a lot for me not to buy DA3. I am watching very closely to see how they deal with this ME3 situation though.

I enjoy Bethesda games, but I have them in an entirely different category in my mind. They are sandboxes, and the focus (to me) is on player freedom (go anywhere, do any quest in whatever order, pick flowers etc.), and less so on the story and characters. BioWare does characters and storytelling like no one else. Which is why their handling of the ME3 story is so very painful, I think. There is no other company that can take their place and do what they do so very well. :crying:

I feel the same as the rest of you. Shepard and Kaidan need their happy and victorious ending, and damnit all, I think that is entirely in keeping with the theme of the Mass Effect games: triumph over impossible odds. :wizard:

SAME.

I think I've played Mars a total of four times now. And will probably play even more. I just love how well done that mission is -- where you see them take off their helmets, put them back on, the dialogue between the VS and Shepard...

Perfect. <3

I never used to like Cullen all that much, I used to feel kinda "meh" about him, but recently I have come to think how awesome it would be to have him as an LI in DA3 Posted Image. I mean, after playing the Mage Origin again and seeing him in DA2, I think he has potential...I feel really sorry for him, what happened in Ferelden changed him and I understand how he turned out the way he did as a result (even though I'm pro-mage all the way). I would certainly be interested in him as an LI, especially if I could romance him as a Mage Posted Image, he has lots of room for potential and character development Posted Image

Definitely this and the main reason I enjoy playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas so much. I like the feeling of immersing myself into a world where I can do whatever I want, and the characters around me seem to have their own life as well. I enjoy walking into a town and having random people walking around, going about their business as if this was real life.

However, as much as I like the Fallout series, the ME games are definitely number one on my list. The characters
in ME make the story. I've grown to leave each ME character...even the ones that just make a cameo. I got all giddy when I ran into minor characters during ME2 and ME3.

As for the ending, all I really want is for Shepard to be alive and for the Normandy to be on Earth. I can easily headcanon the rest. Posted Image

Personally I preferred DA2 to ME2, and I do not get the Cullen love, lol. I was very 'meh' about the LI's in DA2 and in ME2 (for femShep), none of them can compare with Kaidan or Alistair.

So glad I saw this on tumblr yesterday, since the picture I'm working on will require some glowiness on Kaidan's part. Do not want to miss -that- detail. <3

As for DA3, I'm not sure if I'll buy it day one or not. While I do like DA2, I'm just not sure I want to do that jump of blind faith again.

Haha, I think I'd have to romance Cullen as a mage. I just love that dynamic!  Now my hopes are all up that he'll be an LI in DA3 and now I'm going to get super disappointed if he isn't -- or even worse, if he's not in the game at all or only has a brief cameo.

Anyway, one cool thing (I guess? haha) that I noticed about the ending (if you choose destroy and romance Kaidan) is that it ends the way ME1 started. You know, Joker and Kaidan.

Of course that doesn't excuse the sucky ending but still.

See, I play the Sims 3 if I want to do whatever I want. :P
I am also one of those people who can't play an action/adventure game without a clearly stated mission(like ME universe), and I like to have long conversations with other characters.
I feel like everything in Fallout3 and Skyrim is...superficial.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. Actually, I'd have to say Kaidan is my favorite LI because of the arc (and probably because Alistair dumped me the first time I played DA:O so I hold a slight grudge). But the romane arc for FemShep/Kaidan is wonderful. I like that in ME2 there's this huge misunderstanding and that there's conflict in the relationship, but ultimately they trust each other again and finally say that they love each other. Ahhh.

I think Mass Effect also has the advantage of being a trilogy with mostly the same set of characters throughout.

I agree on the long conversation thing. I loooove having conversations with characters. I swear, every time I start up DA:O I talk to Alistair right after he's talking to the mage for at least twenty minutes (when I've finally exhausted all of the conversation options). Mannnn, I miss DA:O.

I agree. Bioware has spoiled me so much, I can't even bring myself to play games anymore unless they have strong characterization. Which is probably why the only games I've played this year are Uncharted, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect.

Skyrim was fun for a while, but lacked the emotional attachment that motivates me to keep going. The only "characters" I really fell in love with were my horses (who I gave names to and fleshed out their personalities...). But after all of my horses kept dying in very ironic ways (such as my horse, Agro, died by falling off a bridge with me on her, yet I survived and she didn't) I decided that the game hated me and stopped playing.
