I'm glad to see so many of you here like Cullen too.
I loved DA2, (despite its flaws) so it would really take a lot for me not to buy DA3. I am watching very closely to see how they deal with this ME3 situation though.
I enjoy Bethesda games, but I have them in an entirely different category in my mind. They are sandboxes, and the focus (to me) is on player freedom (go anywhere, do any quest in whatever order, pick flowers etc.), and less so on the story and characters. BioWare does characters and storytelling like no one else. Which is why their handling of the ME3 story is so very painful, I think. There is no other company that can take their place and do what they do so very well.
I feel the same as the rest of you. Shepard and Kaidan need their happy and victorious ending, and damnit all, I think that is entirely in keeping with the theme of the Mass Effect games: triumph over impossible odds.
Definitely this and the main reason I enjoy playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas so much. I like the feeling of immersing myself into a world where I can do whatever I want, and the characters around me seem to have their own life as well. I enjoy walking into a town and having random people walking around, going about their business as if this was real life.
However, as much as I like the Fallout series, the ME games are definitely number one on my list. The characters
in ME
make the story. I've grown to leave each ME character...even the ones that just make a cameo. I got all giddy when I ran into minor characters during ME2 and ME3.
As for the ending, all I really want is for Shepard to be alive and for the Normandy to be on Earth. I can easily headcanon the rest.
