Hopping in here from the Garrus thread. I saved Kaidan in my super-canonical replay of ME3, romanced Garrus.

My opinion of Kaidan has done a complete 180 from ME1. I was meh on him; the fact that Sentinels are relatively weak in ME1 combat-wise didn't do him any favors, and I was more interested in learning the lore of the alien squaddies. I didn't dislike him, but I didn't really use him either. I saved Ash the first time I played, but her abrasiveness in ME3 really bothered me. I didn't want to dislike her just because of how she is in ME3, so I replayed all the way from ME1 to save Kaidan on Virmire instead.

Dear God, he's awesome in ME3. He's developed so much as a character. He's kept his integrity and level-headedness, and added to that a ton of leadership experience and about twelve levels of badass. He also never ninjamanced me once during my replay; he's a perfect gentleman, and a fantastic friend to my Shep. Not to mention how often he's saved my butt by Cryo Blasting the hell out of things about to maul my squishy Adept Shep.

I feel bad about taking so long to come around on Kaidan, but better late than never, no? ^^

@Sable Rhapsody Welcome! Good to hear that you like Kaidan now. I think Kaidan is very useful in ME1, if you upgrade him. He saved my ass very often. Wrex and Kaidan are my A-Team in ME1.

just started reading this, its so freaking sad. makes me hate the endings even more. how is kaidan suppose to get over shepard dying when he will be hoping she comes back again. i mean she came back alive before, whats stops kaidan from hoping for that again.

I did the same thing, but sludge through it.  It does get better, if you can make it through the pain of the read.  Kudos to the author of this.  It is very well written.

It's beautifully written, makes my heart hurt!

lol lovely...my person fav is when you can't reload ammo and can only move backwards...until someone kills you or the freeze fairy decides to release you.   I did see another glitch on Noveria like your's but my teammate kept walking off into the distance to where eventually he was a spot on the horizon lol.

 i just thought i'd post that i got the 4th volume in my (now insanely massive) Shenko fanfic up:  Ragnarok (<-- hosted at own site, also on fanfic . net if you prefer)

I'm tweeting updates also, in case you follow the twitter more closely than the forums. my fanfiction update seems busted since forever, so yeah. 

just started so no kaidan just yet - he's due to appear in chapter ummm i think 4. anyhow. fiction is up and stuff. hope you enjoy.

I always ran Kaidan/Garrus, even on my Insanity runs. They were the A-team. If anything, I found Garrus to be the squishiest early on, but that got better as he put on a few levels.

I have decided that irony is BioWare claiming aristic integrity on their ending when Kaidan went from bi to straight to bi with the last was done purely to satisfy fan demand. If Kaidan can rapidly change his orientation to please the fans ... then the endings can be modified too without damaging artistic integrity.
