I just can't wait to see how they try to explain all the plot holes. I can't wait to see them scramble to make some sense of why JOKER - who swore up and down he'd never leave Shep again - would be flying away from battle. Why Kaidan and Garrus - both of whom went with me on my only playthrough of Earth - abandoned me on the field of battle. Why Shepard is taking a breath on Earth when she was just on the asploding Citadel in Earth's orbit. How exactly a beam of light can /rewrite the DNA of every living organism - plant or animal - in the galaxy/.

I agree.. I just don't see how they could explain those plot holes in a satisfactory manner.

But maybe that's less important to them than just making it seem like they're doing something for the fans, so that they will be able to shift the blame and say "Hey, we gave you an ending DLC and you're STILL WHINING" when the fans criticize them. Or maybe I'm just being overly cynical and the DLC will be great. I don't know. It's free, and it can't make the endings worse, so I'll give it a shot. It could turn out to be good.

I'm gonna guess it'll best for everyone here to stick to headcanon. Maybe we should nominate someone to take one for the team and check out the ending and let us know (without details) if we should ignore its existence.

Those fan slides posted earlier pretty much satisfied my Shep/Kaidan story.

lol it could end up being epic dlc.. that gives us our happy endings or our hero endings, everyone feels like theyve been kicked in the quad cause of the bad endings.. but considering 95 percent of the game was brilliant.. it might all be okay... thats the only way im gonna stay sane whilst i wait heheh

Good plan! :) I guess we'll see in the summer!

I'm just upset right now. First I get shoehorned into some deus ex machina nonsense with the "canonical ending"--and then BW announces a DLC that basically tells me "we really don't care what you think, thanks for giving us your money, now STFU".

Somebody pass the Cherry Garcia. :(

Honestly, I'd probably be much happier if they gave a straight answer "you won't get any ending DLC" knowing that it's the end of all disappointments than to receive this extended cut; if they ruined the ending, extended cut does not make a difference, it's just to "clean" their name, at least that's what they think it should do, I guess. So... we get 3 colours to choose from in the end, nothing else ;)

they'll get pretty hammered about this at Pax, hopefully they will shed some light on it all.. I dont mind playing ME3, but I dont actually go to earth at this stage.. and probs wont except to run thru the extended DLC, if its bad.. i'll never play my characters past the mission to head back to Earth lol

edit - lolol the motivational thread has already started posting pics/motivationals about this

It's free, so I'll give it a look. I'm not expecting it to make me a whole lot happier. I've basically come to this conclusion - In ME1 and ME2, I got to win the game. In ME3, no matter how it ends, it doesn't feel like I won. I'm not talking about having to have a happy ending because it's possible to feel like you won even if your character dies. One of my DA:O playthroughs saw my Warden sacrifice herself, but she won the freedom of the mages of Ferelden and the new mage tower was named after her. It still felt like a win. In this case, even in the Shep dies endings, it doesn't feel like a win. It feels like BioWare pulls the rug out from under you after three games and says, "No matter what, you can't win." Then, they go all out defending that by calling it art.

Damn, I have held off from running my renegade shep through the final battle in anticipation of an annoucement from Bioware and all we get is more cutscenes?  They were probably going to be in the game in the first place but got cut out during production, I mean do you think they will be playable cutscenes or just sit back and watch as we get told how awesome star-kid is?  So pissed off

Now I gotta play the ending or just stick with multiplayer.

Kinda sounds like what they're saying to me.

"Some of our fans are just too stupid to understand our really cool, 'artistic' ending so we're releasing a 'Mass Effect 3 Ending Guide for Dummies'."

We understood the ending.  It was crappy.  It was disingenuous.  We want it completely redone.

Yeah. Like I said: The @MassEffect 3 Extended Cut = nuts for our food-dyed vanilla cone. Probably pecans. Blech. #masseffect3deservesbetter

:crying::crying::crying:

*offers hugs and Kaidans to the thread* If there's no way for Shep and Kaidan to end up together and have pink babies, I will be... very sad.

*snip sexy pic of Kaidans butt*

I was wondering that too.  How does Shepard's DNA/essence allow them to rewrite Krogan DNA?  Or Quarian DNA (when the chirality is different) or PLANT DNA?!

Just read the BioWare blog about the endings... maaaaan I wish I could go to PAX this weekend to ask the BioWare staff themselves about this.

Personally, I'm just gonna look on the bright side of the issue and hope they answer most of the questions and plot holes. I'm just happy that

a) they're specifically addressing closure and clarity issues, which is the number one problem I had with the ending. Multiple endings would be nice [like a choice where Shepard refuses Star Child's choices], but I'm not expecting more gameplay, to be honest.

B) the DLC is free. Thank goodness. Though I was actually prepared to buy DLC if this was going to turn out like Fallout 3's "Broken Steel" DLC and add more gameplay, but since it is just cinematics and epilogues, I'm glad it's free.

The only thing I'm worried about is how much the extended cutscenes and dialogue will cover, and how long they will be. A quick 5-10 minute "addition" to "explain" things will leave me very unhappy and leave me feeling cheated. But like I said in another thread somewhere, if there is ANY chance for closure and catharsis with this extended DLC, I'm all for it.

Now let's just see how they answer our questions, and how many of them get answered...

You know, I've never actually seen a literal Deus Ex Machina until this game.  Now I know how cheap it really makes a story.

it seems like Bioware no longer understand their own community. Good luck to them.
I just don`t understand why they had to make experiments on Mass Effect.

Well... Mass Effect (1) was also an experiment in terms of DLCs - they promised a lot and gave only the Pinnacle Station argumenting that they had bad strategy. Then, Dragon Age II - a different take on the gameplay and... dialogues - a failure for me, that was a bit too bold experiment; now back to ME3 - another test - ending. Testing, testing, testing... Somebody call Mordin to run test on seashells?
