Yeah I think that's one of the biggest issues. They didn't just give us a bad ending, they blatantly lied to us. So now I'm supposed to trust them to make better games in the future. I guess I should just think the opposite of everything PR says.

It's one thing to stretch the truth. They told us things were in the game after the game went gold that were not there.

"At this point we’re taking into account so manydecisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them.”

This is a blatant LIE. No amount of screaming artistic integrity can erase that.

*laughs*  So they hold on tightly to their "artistic integrity."  They just don't give a sh** about any other kind of integrity.  Image IPB

If I hear BW claim artistic integrity one more time I am going to rip my hair out! What is artistic about a ripoff of the Matrix/Deus Ex endings? Where is the integrity of promising lots of different endings when we get minor color changes instead? Bah!

I'm cautiously optimistic about the endings being expanded. A good deal of grief can be extracted from the current ones because they do so little to end anything but the major overal arc of all three games.

Hope for the best, prepared for the worst.

That's kind of what I'm trying to do too. Since I expected them to do absolutely nothing regarding the ending, this announcement is something of a pleasant surprise for me. Hoping for the good stuff. :)

Me too, I've been thinking about this with the same attitude, seems to be the best way to deal with something you're not sure of. I'm still hoping for thingsImage IPB, but I'm prepared if I don't get what I want.

Yeah.  I seriously didn't expect ANYTHING to be done except lip service.  It still has to be proven, however.  I mean, how many promises and false hopes were handed to us before ME3?  A LOT.  So take all of this with a grain of salt.

I still won't buy ANY DLC or new games from ME or DA until I see this with my own eyes.  If I get Kaidan or at least an ending that makes sense, I'll consider buying their products again.  If not, BW (minus TOR because it is delivering on promises for me), can go frak themselves.

i'm very much like Garus and tend to be a realist type. I don't trust Bioware until I see it with my own eyes as well. However, if my shepard gets to keeep Kaidan or at least gets a scean with garus and my sheaprd drinking bear on the beach with a dead reaper in the back ground thought you also show a destoryed london as well....  :D I'm ok with that type of ending. .

That is a bittersweet ending bioware not the crap you gave us.  Yes we won but we've got a long way to rebuild that the type of message you should have sent. As a writer, I say screw artist creativetiy when they creat crap I'll tell them its crap ala Twilight.  "Sparkling Vampires my ass" You don't destory a story's or beings lore just because you think it sexy and cool.   This whole thing, reeks of EA  and bioware wanting to sell the ending as a DLC to milk more money out of us.

Even with “Extended Cut”, I am still screwed. The only reason my galactic readiness was above 50% was because I had a two-day Xbox gold pass. I can’t afford to pay for live. So I played some multiplayer and then beat the game that same day. Unfortunately, your galactic readiness decreases every day. So by the time the extended cut comes out, my readiness will be back to 50% and I will be unable to get the ending where Shepard is alive. I hate you Bioware!!!

The only way for Marlena to be with Kaidan is to shell out the money for Xbox live :(

It instantly became one of the defining images of the Reaper Wars.":wub::wub:

Your war assets and galactic readiness seem to be "frozen" once you hit the point of no return, right before assaulting TIM's base (when the sex scene happens).  As long as you have a save after that, you should be okay, even if your GR drops.

It took me forever to get the Shepard living ending because I did multi-player *after* getting my first Shepard past the Cerberus base, so even though my GR was 100% and my was assets were ~6900, the game wasn't registering it since I'd gone past the point of no return already.  I assume it works the same the other way around.

Hmm... I don't know how extensive the announced DLC will be, but the gaming world will see what happens in summer.

I'm just glad it's going to be free so far. Otherwise, more people would have been angry at the announcement. *sigh* Of all the franchises to suffer, why did it had to be Mass Effect? I love the franchise so much... It's making me sad that so many people fighting and yelling.

Thanks for clarifying that! Although I can't remember if I did multiplayer before or after the Cerberus base :/

I asked about this in another thread and was told that the number is locked in after the assault on the base, since you still have to pick up the Reaper Heart 100-point war asset (If you destroyed the collector base in ME2 or did not import a ME2 game save) or the 110-point Reaper Brain (if you kept the the collector base).

I'm totally confused now. Image IPB

Haha. Yeah, ok. You guys just go hide. You refuse to explain and answer questions about the ending cause you don't know how to! This is a joke.

Ah, that makes more sense.  Either way, it'd be safest to have a save right after the base assault (when the next mission is Priority: Earth).

People tend to go thru five stages and some just haven't gotten past the anger stage yet. I'm at the stage of finally accepting that the Star kid was a big fat lying pack of **** and it 's the ID theory. B)B)

Tell me about it! My knee-jerk reaction after reading the news was to cancel my SWTOR account (which I have not played since ME3 came out) but stepped away from the PC and said to myself, "wait until you see the DLC before making any judgements."

While BioWare may drone on and on about 'artistic integrity' they're not so stupid that they forgot they're also a business. They know that what they release this summer will have a direct influence on their future titles. So to everyone I say take a step back, decompress, write fan fiction, or play something else. In short, don't whip yourselves up into a frenzy over what you think will happen. Wait until summer, see the DLC and then take it from there. You may still wind up swearing BW products forever, but at least you'll do it with a good reason. :)

Im a little late to the discussion of todays news, but im in the skeptical camp, it sounds like they are just gonna add in a few cutscenes for those of us not 'artisitc' enough to comprehend their truly fabby groundbreaking never seen before awesome sauce endings. Im gonna wait and see, same as i did for the game itself (i read every spoiler going) but im not expecting much.

My, my... I've just read the new heading on the official mass effect page and... Hmm... let's see... Am I disappointed? No. In disbelief? No. Angry? No. It's just what I was expecting, more or less, regarding how BioWare will deal with the issue of the ending. What comes to my mind is that BioWare has gone... EA, to keep the standards of the latter. For me, no more closure is necessary because I simply do not agree with the current endings at all, they do not reflect BioWare's promises before the ME release. Time to move on and find a different company which does not hide behind a facade of listening to their fans, and does not talk about an excuse called "artistic integrity" just to prove they are the ones who are always right.

If you want that to happen, tweet Bioware devs. It's the best way to reach them. Tweets must be polite and postivive of course :) And no spamming obviously. Mike Gamble is the best person to do it right now since he's active: twitter.com/#!/GambleMike , also Jessica: twitter.com/#!/JessicaMerizan . Tweet to them that you would love to see any potential Kaida/Shep reunion in the ending. Better chance they include it if fans show support on Twitter. I already did :D

And this is the right moment to do it, since they're very early in developement of Extended Cut (if they already started). Later it will be too late.

You know this is gonna be really funny. I honestly don't know how they are going to explain the endings in a way that makes sense and gives closure beyond everybody died.

Strawberry, your first question should be, "Can you please explain your artistic vision of the ending?"

If they want to claim art, they should be able to explain what's happening and what they are trying to portray.
Image IPB

If the point of the DLC is to explain their artistic vision to us plebs they're certainly not going to give anything away now.  Personally, I went into the ending expecting to fail and have everyone wiped out so anything that can help explain what actually happened after I didn't fail is what I really want from them.  Although I'll be stunned if they can explain away the Normandy and my go-to crew being light years away from where I left them.  <_<

I'm just happy they announced something whether or not is lives up to fans expectations we can only wait and see ... at least it's a free DLC!  Looks like I'll be getting my Sheps up to London and then waiting for Summer! In the mean time ... must be optimistic!

As long as the DLC shows Kai and Shep after destructo ending making out and doing fluffy things... or if control ending Kai appears on citadel and makes out with catalyst Shep (if that is possible)

Or for extra randomness Kai makes out with himself after synthesis, which is the nearest he can get to that (poor lonely Kaidan babes!)

[snort] He could make out with a tree and be as close.  Or Cortez.  I presume Cortez was sucked back into the Normandy with Kaidan and Garrus.  :kissing:
