Wow, I'm surprised you'd be able to form words at all  I'd more than likely be reduced to a speechless, blubbering idiot. Sorta like when I met Ron Turcott last year at the Kentucky Derby, those were three of the most amazing and awkward minutes of my life.

And knowing me, I most likely would. My diplomacy always abandons me when I need it most.

Yeah, some of us play, but I always get odd hours thanks to being home alone with my son. I generally only manage to squeeze three or four matches in midday during his nap time. I also squeeze in a few evening matches. If I'm on at other times, I'm playing single player from which I can safely be distracted.

I guess it would depend on what circumstances I met them under...I've been crazily fortunate enough to hang out with people I'd consider "celebrities" of some sort and they're always really normal people who just want to be treated normal when you chat with them.  Author R.A. Salvatore insists on being "Bob" and when Mike Laidlaw and one of the level designers and I had lunch, it was all first name basis.

So while I suspect my first instinct would be to be intimated and want to go a Mr/Ms route, eventually, it would just be first name.  But that would probably depend on the person I was talking to  too!

They're terrible artists. They can't even explain what they created and why they created it.

The thing that irks me the most is that as a designer/artist when someone doesn't like what I've done, I don't get to yell "artistic integrity, artistic integrity I am not changing anything!"  I have to accept with some humilty that what I designed was not what they wanted, and I have to do that because I am being paid for it.

I have my happy Kaidan ending in my head, so that will have to be good enough for me./

To the fanfiction writers:

Is there a piece with Thane and Kaidan as the main characters? I mean, wouldn't Thane talk to Kaidan about Shepard and what happened in ME2? Also with Thane dying :' ( wouldn't he ask Kaidan to take care of Shepard?

I've been lurking around ff.net for a while, and haven't seen such a story (or maybe I've missed it). But I thought that could be an interesting scenario to think about.

Even though the ending left a bitter after taste in minds of many gamers, I see fanfiction writing to explore other smaller plots that the writers of the game itself have overlooked. I'm really enjoying some of the fanfictions (I only look at Shenko; can't help myself.... ). I think it's a great space to establish scenarios for our favorite characters that can't be done in the final product due to restraints in resources.

And I want to thank the fanfiction writers on the Kaidan forum for posting Shenko stories. Romance is the right mood for spring, and I'm feeling it. I see flowers blooming everywhere outside!

So, I've been sorting through old files and documents on my laptop, figured I could delete a few I never use. I found one from last August titled, "Snowball", and it was an empty word document save for the sentence, "And then Miranda rode off into the sunset on a magical flying unicorn."
I really want to know what I was thinking when I wrote that. And what my intentions were in the first place.


Also, just curious, what exactly is Casey Hudson's job in Bioware? Everyone's saying he was one of the lead writers, but I thought Bioware's lead writers were Mac Walters and Drew *can'tspellhislastname*?

I guess the IDEA if this artistic ending is "not everything depends on human will, no matter how hard you try, no matter what you do and how strong you are, sometimes you cant get it all and fix everything."

Too bad the theme of the entire Mass Effect trilogy is the exact opposite. Changing theme and tone in the last ten minutes is such bad storytelling... Oh right, artistic vision. I'm not allowed to say anything <_<

On the artistic aspect, I think I can see what they were TRYING to do (I think). To me, it seems like they're trying to mess with your mind, with the Catalyst and all, exploring the perception vs. reality, true nature of good and evil, and deeper philosophical points like that. However, the execution is the lacking bit. They could have fleshed this out really nicely (think the plot of the first Matrix, which Walters had cited on his planning sheet) but they missed the home run. It still would've felt out of place, but if it was done to a higher level of understanding, it would be a bit more acceptable.
Or maybe it's midnight and reading Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates all in a timespan of four days has fried my tiny little brain and I'm overthinking things again.

I think they also played the Genesis card with Synthesis, but mentioning religion is about as safe as licking a nuclear bomb in winter.
