Interesting response to a question about what happens to citadel ... They made sure it was in the codex the fact that Interiors have emergency seals, lots of kinetic seals. So anyone in the citadel could still be alive because even though the arms break off the people inside could still be alive. I like knowing that...

You know, for me that answer sucks, like all the answers that they said...

And no one of the people in the room had the decency to ASK questions and not stupid things (Like the one of Garrus and Tali hooking up)

Seriously, sometimes I like to think that this game is played by people with certain intelligence and not plants...

So...even after explosions the pieces are going to stay in orbit? Doubt much would live after reentry if any of that were to fall into earths atmosphere.

I can't believe I actually thought they would answer questions. Stalling, fluffing, and limiting the QA to 5-10 minutes. PR at its finest.

Apparently they were really late too.  Could be a rumor though.  Do you think they asked people what they were going to ask before letting them speak?

Oh there's no doubt in my mind. They also answered big things like what would be in the dlc and the indoctrination theory with long winded no comments. Speeches that were prepared beforehand and makes them look like they actually answered. There's other stuff like making fans feel guilty and unreasonable but doing it in a roundabout way so they still look the good guys.

This is why PR get paid the big bucks. This is how you calm a revolt. Manipulate and deflect so the weaker members will eventually break down and the stronger members will be labelled zealots and crazies. Once the numbers dwindle and the revolt is more manageable appease with the bare minimum.

Fans feel like they've won and they go back to thinking Bioware is the greatest again for "listening."

I fear any new cinematic ending while great will have lost a lot of the emotional impact given that it will be released months after most people have finished the game. When I bought the game I was on my spring break and played it for three days straight and that's when I would have and should have been enjoying an awesome closure-filled ending to this amazing trilogy, not three months after the fact. I suppose I could always replay the game but it's going to be hard to now that I suffer from the bitterness that is star child.

that goddamn god-AI-starkid is on my top list
most tempting character to punch right after Kai Leng

I HATED Kai Leng.  He was so artificially difficult.  At least the Ravagers actually HAD a lot of hit points to burn through instead of just not letting your attacks do ANY DAMAGE.  This made him more irritating rather than scary.

Well, I wasn't there (but I'm sure Strawberry can tell us), but it seemed like the crowd there took it all ok (so a win for their PR). It seems like it just caused a huge storm on the general forums though. So was all the PR worth it?

nvm. Just have a Kaidan and let's get on with living until this DLC comes out.

his annoying shields and ninja shockwave jump makes my Reave useless <_<

Oh gods, I couldn't freaking WAIT to kill him. When I ran a Vanguard (who are absolutely ILL, by the way), I one-shotted him on Thessia.

And by "one-shotted", I mean "Biotic Charge/Nova'd him once, and he was stuck on one health-pip and didn't trigger the gunship no matter how much I kited him around the Temple--so I was forced to load the save that I wisely made right before the encounter."

Made it so much more satisfying when I killed him on Cronos Station...and even then the game forced the fight to be artificially drawn-out. *shakes fist*

I totally understand.  Again, I don't mind an actual, legitimate villain.  The Ravagers had tons of HP and took a while to kill.  It was the artificialness of how difficult he was.

Crowd was a mix - some dedicated fans like us, a surprising number who hadn't yet completed, or who had but weren't really that bothered by the endings... the vocal community were not there in force, or if they were they were all polite. Event was late kicking off - they underestimated how long it took to get all the hundreds of Dragon Age fans out of the room, then get all ME fans in. The devs were given a good reception because we were presented by people who created content that wasn't part of the ending.

Clearly they'd been prepped by the PR team, and they basically refused to say much more than what had been said previously. But if folks like Patrick Weekes and the guys on that panel are at all involved in helping get an ending together then I'm more hopeful. The one thing that I was a bit mad about was the unanimous comments that they had no idea that people would be unhappy with the endings - I still can't believe that people can get choked up over issues like Genophage cures / character deaths and yet go through that ending without seeing the Gaping Plot Holes of Doom :) But I guess there is an element of team solidarity, stick with the team to support those that did work on it - I guess if someone makes a bad call, sometimes you stick with them and hope that the effective military strength points come in from other avenues.

I got more text to unravel and ideas to form, I shall work on providing more rambling thoughts in a bit!

From what I've heard the other writers had no say on the ending; it was only Mac Walters.

Mac Walters & Casey Hudson (who had absolute say/veto power).

That's a rumor that sprung up because Patrick Weekes, who was on the writing team, has a well-known public account the Penny Arcade forums that supposedly posted that information. The posts were later deleted and Bioware officially denied that it was him and claimed the posts were from an imposter. I'm not sure how much I trust Bioware's word on this but here's a link to an article that covered the whole debacle.

I don't believe a single word about what Priestly says in this forum...
But I do like to know that there was at least someone in the team smart enough to know that what they did was going to ****** off so many fans...
I honestly, never expected a happy tale either, but not something like the endings were....Is just that everything after Anderson's death is out of place, the StarKid nonsenses shouldn't have never been there in the first place....

That's a very interesting article... Patrick Weekes stole the show today, rapturous applause from a crowd of hundreds, and I made a point of shaking his hand because of his work with Mordin, Garrus and other characters and plots that I adore. He praised all his coworkers on the panel when it came to who came up with the end to the genophage story arc (which is one of the best moments of the whole damn series) - him and the rest of the team get top marks from me. Please let them be in on the expandededextended ending dlc thing...

I don't buy the imposter thing either because Bioware has "disproven" things a lot only for them to later turn up true, oh surprise!

(Hi, been lurking and kicking at my art block.)

I hate that bloody child - my heart sank when I saw him at the beginning.  SUCH a tired old trope.  Didn't bode well from the off for me.

Thanks for the report Strawberry - cool picture of Samara. I dress all my MP Krogans in pink. It must be something to do with all that testosterone and the quads. Though, come to think of it, all my male MP characters (and the one manShep I tried) are in pink except the Turians. Just ... because. It's interesting that you are reporting a different tone when talking to the actual makers of the game than the tone we get in the press releases. When someone on the team actually comments, it seems a lot more positive. Still, I'm not wholly convinced. I've found the whole thing disappointing and also hilarious at the same time. I'm an Arts major (music in my case) and an academic. I've found all the 'artistic integrity' stuff beyond naive and stupid (mostly silly). I'm glad things remained civil. I thought it might be a bloodbath. The Tali's face thing was also bad.

Yeah, it's pretty embarrassing to watch if you are an artist or an art major. If I was in one of my classes and my teacher asked me to explain my work and I was like 'I don't have to explain my vision! It's art!' Pretty sure I would fail :/

@the thing about Mording singing

I noticed this when my husband played.  His Mordin death scene was different (and in my opinion, not nearly as cool/heart breaking).  That's what he gets for skipping over dialogue.

Thanks again for posting ^_^
