That is why I haven't cancelled my SWTOR sub over this--like I've said here and elseboard, I don't feel right punishing the guys in Austin (who actually are listening to fans and trying to make SWTOR better) because a couple of the guys in Edmonton have decided to be arrogant and dismissive little toolboxen.

This right here is something I've been dealing with for a couple of days.  I just found out a very good friend of mine, someone I care about quite a bit, is working for Bioware on TOR.  I cancelled my TOR sub the day I finished ME 3 for the first time.  So now while I feel bad for the TOR guys and really feel bad for my friend, because they were not directly responsible for this, the problem is that if I continue to give Bioware and through them EA my money, then I have said nothing to them.  Yes to some extent they have listened, however, from all appearances they are not giving us what we were asking for, if anything they are giving us exactly what we told them we did not want.  This in my mind says 'ok talking is not doing it, it's time to vote with the old wallet.' That is what I am doing.  I've done it before, and I am really good at sticking with it, however, this is the first time this has really invovled something I like and/or want.

I hope this new dlc will explain it and not just make us all mad again. I hope it's done right so my paragon shep has a different ending compared to my bad shep.

Same here, that's why I'm willing to give Dragon Age 3 a chance... well, that and there's a high possibility that Cullen will be a companion/LI in this one. I've been after that Templar for years!

Rumours abound that the session at Pax was filled with plants asking nice questions - anyone know if that's true??

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I bet they didn't take any questions from the retakers, apparently a lot of them were wearing retakeme3 t.shirts so no doubt they avoided them like the plague.

Think I read somewhere the people wearing re-take shirts were asked to leave before the Q & A session.

I think I saw one of the retakers chatting to some of the devs in the Bioware room - there was no escorting out that I saw in there. I was too far back to comment on the people asking questions in the room, but people from all over the room just lined up behind the mic and took turns til the event organizers asked the Bioware folks to wrap it up because we were over time. They also delivered a huge book full of feedback directly to the devs - they held it up at the start of the Q&A and thanked people for compiling it.

I know it was carefully planned and timed. Wouldn't surprise me if they were plants. They asked the stupidest questions.

Look, I understand that maybe behind the scenes they are all really nice people. The thing is they are still a business. The dollar is still number 1. And that's ok, don't want to make games for like 500 people's personal interests. The issue is the constant PR bull**** that makes fans feel like they are nothing but dollar signs. It didn't used to be this way with Bioware. I didn't feel betrayed after a game was released and all the content they promised wasn't there.

Companies like Bethesda and CD Projekt make some great selling games, but they don't need to plug in the hype machine. When Bethesda messed up with Fallout 3, they didn't claim artistic integrity and stick their fingers in their ears. They said, "You know what, you guys are right. That is pretty stupid," then they created DLC to fix it. There wasn't even that much outrage from it.

Bioware used to be able to talk to us, but now I can't take anything they say to heart on the chance they are lying. They feel less like a friend and more like a corporation now and that's sad. They tote the "we are listening to the fans" line but then they say stuff like "We didn't know there was a huge demand for it" (about closure in the ending).

People keep saying that no matter what people will rage but that's not true. If they just put down the PR walls, stop with all the catch phrases, and simply answer some real questions than this would stop. Think about if they just sat down yesterday and after a brief introduction, just opened it up to questions. They came up with honest responses and explained how they were planning to fix things.

You really think the rage would continue? And who does it hurt to do this? You wanna be a personable company that prides themselves on listening to the fans? Than guess what, actions speak louder than words.

I doubt there were plants. Based on my past experiences at convention panels, and Strawberry's comment, there's just no way they could effectively place planted people in the line for questions. It was nice that they went over time, too, and it's not unusual that they only dedicated the last 10 minutes to questions.

I do think that people will rage no matter what. Just glancing at the Story or General boards makes me feel ashamed to be a part of the Bioware fanbase, people are being downright whiny, entitled, rude, etc. Sure, there are definitely better ways this could have been handled, but we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. I'm just thankful enough that they're actually expanding upon the endings. They didn't, by any means, have to do this, and especially not for free. But they are. Yet people are still ripping in to them.

@Graceyn bit late but just wanted to say wow you wrote "If It Meant Living"? Just started reading that a short while ago and have to say its amazingly good. Read the mushy Kaidan parts first (couldn't help myself) but going back and reading it all from the beginning now. I love how it follows the events in the game and fleshes them out with more conversations and thoughts etc. Can't wait for the next chapters!

Thanks :D.  I'm so glad you found it and are enjoying it.  You will find that as the story progresses I expand beyond the game story more and more (I was getting my bearings early on).

The question is, are you sure you found all the mushy Kaidan parts?  Hint:  during the ME2 story check the "live"/non-Journal chapters, especially (but not always) near the end ;).

This.  Do I think they should and could handle this better?  Yeah.  But between the SWTOR boards and a lot of the threads here I can easily understand going into defensive mode.  No matter what they say it's ripped apart and denigrated.  People accuse them of outright lying when they haven't even given specifics.

If I promised to do something but hadn't yet settled on what and then everyone jumped my @ss and told me it wasn't good enough and I was just pandering I'd probably put up some walls pretty quickly, too.  For me, the rest of the series is enough to convince me to be patient and see what happens.  And I'm not about to give up SWTOR to "punish" BioWare.  Hubby and I spend way too much quality time on it and, hey, they're different teams.  :)

I just read through kotaku's live blog of the panel.  When someone asked about face models, I REALLY wanted someone to ask who Kaidan's was so we can finally lay that question to rest... oh well. :[

This. Judging from the live blog and strawberry's comments the panel seemed very normal to me.

And as for the extended cut DLC, I like how they specified that they got a whole team of cinematic specialists and writers working on it right now.  I'm still in the 'wait and see' mode, I'm tired of being angry at the endings, lol.

I'm highly positive it will happen. They know they went overboard with bitter, so letting Shep still have his friends and LI is the best solution.

Oh, sorry, I don't play very often, so I'm not good with knowing classes and abilities and stuff :P MP is fun, I just haven't been able to find a class that fits my playstyle.

Try out *all* the different options.  In SP I normally play either Adept or Vanguard.  I'm best at Adept.  But I've found I'm not so hot at adept in MP - I think it's the limited to three powers that does it.  I've not realised just how much I spam biotics in SP.  No wonder I don't run out of ammo.  Anyway, what I've found in MP is that I'm good with Infiltrator and Sentinel, especially Turian Sentinel.  It's the combination of powers he has (especially overload and warp) and his heavier-hitting damage (both gun-based and melee).  I don't do quite as well with human or krogan sentinels (though Krogan is great just for the luls).  Just this last week, I've also been having a blast with a Quarian engineer and her little mobile turrets (just unlocked the character) whereas my human engineer was a bit ho-hum even with the bot.  It's not just the different classes that can affect your success but also the different races because each combination gives you different play options.  The Krogans (sentinel and soldier) are, by far, the funniest though.

Sorry - not Kaidan related (and I must stop doing that on this thread).  How about this?

Good news on face import - my canon shep will (hopefully) be more recognizable to Kaidan when they reunite next time I playthrough with her!

This, this, a thousand times this.  Yes, I was really upset at the beginning with the endings but staying mad doesn't accomplish anything. I too am taking a wait and see attitude in regards to what the extended cut will provide.

I sometimes wish I could go into the general forums and pimpslap the tar out of everyone who won't give the DLC at least a second of consideration. As it is, I feel those forums should be considered radioactive - best taken in small doses.  Posted Image

Yeah the General and Story forums are ridiculous at the moment. Seriously, at least people should stop complaining and insulting devs till EC is out and they play it

I'm guessing it was BioWare's purpose to reveal that the Extended Cut DLC would be released this summer - feed people with hopes and count on the possibility of their anger receiding. Pure PR...
In the meantime, I want a Kaidan DLC ^_^

I would love if it was a mission to recsue his biotic students :o He keeps talking about them in the game and it's great and all but then EDI just finds them and it's like "but I wanted to help Kaidan with this :crying:"

I had the same reaction! I was hoping for more with his students... at the very least, I wanted them acknowledged as war assets!

I thought for sure we'd get to do this! It really felt like they were building up to it. I was so disappointed when EDI found them. She stole my thunder.
