Does anyone else know offhand what other parts of the game were written by Mac Walters? I'm theorizing over here... And I wish I had a chocolate bunny.

You know, I never did change anyone's armor in ME1. It always bothered me to do so.

Pretty sure he did the Citadel Coup and I think Thessia but I'm not sure. He of course wrote the ending.

Patrick Weekes and John Dombrow did Tuchanka and Rannoch. They wrote Wrex, Garrus, Mordin, Joker, Tali, and Javik.

Oh, thanks. I loved the Coup and Thessia, but I'm still left wondering what on Earth happened with the end.  I suppose "What on Earth" isn't the best figure of speech when dicussing ME3, is it?

Best I can figure, resources, time, discovering difficulty in the programming, and lack of peer review. They weren't even able to edit the flashback in a way to include ME2 love interests. That just screams that they ran out of time.

That said, Patrick Weekes has opened up and talked to the fans which is what I wanted. If Weekes and Dombrow have a big role in the endings I'm willing to trust them. But they need to take their time. I don't care if doesn't come out til fall or winter. If programming is an issue they can spend as much time as possible on it. I do think they need gameplay is needed, but I believe now that they can fix this ending into something that makes sense.

I think if they really spend their time on the extended cut DLC, I'll be happy. I know a bunch of people are still going to be angry about the endings because they're not changing, only clarifying. But hell, you can do a lot with just clarifying. They expected us to interpret a lot out of the endings they gave us, when we wanted closure not interpretation.

Sometimes, I feel like BW puts too much content in for the aliens over the humans (squadmate wise), and probably because everyone seems to love Garrus, Tali, and Liara, but hates the humans. Of all the human squaddies in ME3, Kaidan got the most content (from what I've heard, Ash got a lot less than Kaidan), and Vega has about as many scenes and conversations as Traynor.
I wish there was more LI involvement. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but DA:O did the romances very well in terms of changing lines/scenes, adding or removing content, etc. It's too bad ME3 didn't get the same treatment, but that's why we have fanfiction!
Which reminds me, I need to stop getting distracted and get back to typing that story.

Thane is an alien too, maybe the writers forgot that part <_<

'Everyone loves aliens and hate humans' is a bit much IMO. But there are on an uneven field. Human characters are often placed in a 'rivalry' situation (VS and the Horizon events, Miranda/Jacob and Cerberus, Jack and her general attitude) compared to alien characters who tend to be much more 'cooperative' and will risk everything to help Shepard. Alien characters also get to be associated with extrra role and background in relation with their species.

If Kaidan had a well developped friendship arc, if the fact that he decided to stay loyal to the Alliance had been useful in any way to Shepard, if him becoming a Spectre would have provided extra missions, if something in his background was mission-related at any point,  if he had some some political/militair infuence and not just be an extra gun ... then it would be fair to compare.

But until he gets all that, I think its more a lack of attention to the development of  human characters that sways people's opinion the most. A ton of content wouldnt fix everything, the quality of it matters alot also. It needs to be significant.

As for who I would take if the squaddie's I took with me would die from Harbie's beam, I would have to say Javik and EDI. Javik was going to die no matter what I did and he would've liked to go out while fighting against the Reapers and most of EDI is still in the Normandy anyways. Heck if I chose the Destroy option it wouldn't even matter that her 'body' got destroyed.

There was a thread a while ago that suggested Liara was saving Shep's memories in that scene, which would enable her to have Shepard's child later in life and Bioware could use that child as the protagonist to a future ME game (to keep a connection to Shepard and the original story). However unlikely this seems, with how much BW loves Liara and the Asari, I wouldn't put it completely past them.

Maybe I'll skip Liara's goodbye next time I play.

Wow, just...the only words that come to mind are "non-consensual".

As for the ending, thought CHud had a heavy hand in writing it?

To me it looks like they just put the most content and effort into their personal favourite characters. They had 12 squadmates from ME2 with identical death variable/chance to pick from and they went with the most banal choice to have Garrus and Tali come back as perma-squadmates again while such character as Miranda, who probably has the deepest insight on Cerberus and TIM out of everyone in the galaxy (which should be crucial considering Cerberus is now opposing Shep for mysterious reasons) is being kept away from the squad and from the Normandy.

You're using that HQ texture mod? Yeah, Alenko name got added. Not sure why, kinda bothers me, but the mod is amazing! Kaidan's armor looks SO good with better textures!

He didn't write it but he was in charge of creating and limiting content for it if that makes sense. For instance, Casey made the decision to take out investigative dialogue with starkid and extra dialogue with Anderson. The rumor (unconfirmed) is that Casey and Walters wrote the ending on their own without much consulting with the team. For me, that's the only thing that makes sense since I can't see Weekes, Durbow, and the other writers being happy with that ending.

Maybe its like putting your name in your underwear. So people know its yours. Or maybe so he wont forget his name...

I suddenly have an image of selecting EDI and Miranda on the squad screen, then having the whole screen topple forwards and collapse...

Based on the fact that she was the most difficult to kill on accident, I thought Miranda would have a pretty big role in ME3 and a good candidate for a squadmate. Could you imagine having her and Kaidan on the same squad? Talk about a killing spree!

So, I've been working on another Shenko fic all day. Current word count is 2,373, and I just realized that I have no plot whatsoever. I wish my brain had told me that two thousand words ago.

Kaidan's friendship arc was still WAY better than Ash's in ME3.  They were about comparable in ME1 and fairly good, but I've played ME3 with both Kaidan and Ash, non-romanced.  Ash gets a grand total of one drunken conversation after she joins Normandy, and no character development.  Kaidan gets two substantial conversations and some pretty decent ambient stuff.  Kaidan felt like a member of the team; Ash felt like that random person hanging out in Samara's old room.

Yeah, the high res texture looks great, but that would drive me crazy, since it's a cosmetic change with no purpose.  If it made sense, I'd be okay with it, but I don't see why Kaidan would need to have his name emblazoned on his armor repeatedly...

And agreed about Miranda.  That was so much wasted potential, and though I know everybody loves the aliens, Miranda's potential involvement in the plot could have been a lot more interesting if she were on the team.

I love Miranda to bits; she's my favorite female squaddie, and one of my favorite characters.  I'd chuck half my current team out the airlock to get her back in ME3.

The suicide mission in ME2 really bit the writers arse I think when it came to squadmates in ME3. I really think with the suicide mission they should done it like the Virmire, at certain intervals you could only save one over another etc. But that would suck as well so yeah in general the suicide mission was a bad idea.

On the downside, it means fighting my way through that last mightmare bit in London with super-squishy Liara and someone else ... not sure who, maybe Javik..

That's my go-swab-the-Normandy's-decks crew!  Sending them to die accompany Shepard will severely impact the Normandy's cleanliness rating.  OTOH, in a battle who would win, Harby's beam, or Liara's plot armor/dev favorite shields?

I don't mind Tali, and I like Garrus, but they did have a lot of screen-time compared to the humans.  And I felt Liara's goodbye to a non-romanced Shepard was quite inappropriate.

I agree with that
at first I was okay with Liara's goodbye
but when she starts to lean her head to Shepard's shoulder
now thats insane <_<

Yes, that's her back to her old ME1 ninjamancing self!   Grrr!

I really don't like her.  So the idea of taking her to London and letting her get vapourised quite appeals to me!   Problem is that there's no-one else I dislike enough to bring along to make up the numbers.

Probably use it to beat some sense into Liara when she tries to ninjamance me again....  :pinched:

If it's a 'real' brick from something of historical or cultural interest, the archaeologist in me would say return it whence it came, if possible.  If it was something I could keep with a clear conscience, I'd display it in my house with a card explaining what it was.

@Kaidan saving you

He does kinda sorta save you on Rannoch. The part where you run to Legion to get into the vehicle. The cutscene shows Shepard running then a geth pops up behind her and Kaidan punches (or hits with his weapon, I dont remember exactly) the geth and it falls down and then tali turns around and shoots it. Yeah, that's the only "Rescue Scene" I saw from him. Image IPB Should have been more. I mean how can the tiny Liara pull me up from this hole on Thessia all by herself? Kaidan could have helped out.

GAH, whatever! I give up. Pic doesnt want to show. Image IPB
