I've been following this thread for a while, and I have to say I'm glad I'm not the only one who creates their own 'canon' for their Shepard character.  My favourite paragon femShep has a romance with Kaidan across all the games because I never felt she would just turn round and go off with someone else in 2.  After all it had been 2 years for him, but only a very short time for her.

So as soon as I could in 3 I went off and got my Kaidan.  I also never cared for Liara very much either, I haven't romanced her in any of the playthroughs I've done (and I've done a fair few )

On a side note I feel like a bit of a noob as I didn't realise you can't change your screen name once you sign up.  *sigh*  Well I' guess I'll just have to live with it.


Oh and keep all the Kaidan pics/fanfic coming, I love it all!!

So ive been replaying ME1 again, and I have to say, all of my characters look sooooo young.. I like that theyve aged them a bit throught the 3 games....

Im curious how this face import fix is gonna work, whether or not they will change any of the coding for the current faces or such... hope it doesnt break my faces for ME3.. I imagine the rage would be pretty hardcore then lol

edit - so I was just reading over on masserrect.tumblr that indoctrination was supposed to be part of the ending but that Casey Hudson nixed it for the current endings we have.. wonder if there is any truth to it and whether or not there will be stuff put into the Extended ending dlc...

Well, RL soldiers have their names on the outside of their gear (at least over here).  On a battlefield, unfortunately, one body can pretty much look like any other body.  It helps squads keep tabs on who's alive and who, well, isn't.

the thing im loving most about playing me1 again is stalking Kaidan at his work station heh heh heh... that scar on his lower lip is delicious... im such a freakin perv

All these videos make me want to start video editing again. I love making trailers and sizzle reel type stuff. I just don't know how to grab footage from the game... I don't have the PC version, but I heard of a device that can capture footage as you play the 360. I wanna make a romance tribute to Kaidan and Shepard. Hopefully that dream will be realized soon.

Also, I just read that unofficial Patrick Weekes interview in the Story Spoilers forum... my faith in the ending DLC is now somewhat restored!!!!! I Weekes.

I heard that was in the Final Hours app for the iPad. I still never got around to buying it and reading through it.

If that's true... they obviously left hints in the game that they wanted to do it. *sigh*

Kaidan's friendship arc was still WAY better than Ash's in ME3.  They were about comparable in ME1 and fairly good, but I've played ME3 with both Kaidan and Ash, non-romanced.  Ash gets a grand total of one drunken conversation after she joins Normandy, and no character development.  Kaidan gets two substantial conversations and some pretty decent ambient stuff.  Kaidan felt like a member of the team; Ash felt like that random person hanging out in Samara's old room.

Its funny but I felt the other way around completly. Maybe it all boils down to expectations.

Ash is and always was just a soldier. And she seems pretty happy about it. Compared to Kaidan, she never really wanted to be a Spectre and she never trusted Udina farther then she could throw him. So I dont see it as 'lack of development' that she ends up being just  soldier. She got to figure out thats what she's good at and  what she wants. She never talks of her Spectre status again, like it died with Udina. As for friendship, Shep is her commander and thats where it starts and ends. Professional camaraderie  just like Vega.

But Kaidan was always interested to be more then a soldier, and he had the potential for it. in ME1, the first thing you hear of him is that he is interesed in military affairs, not just holding a rifle. He wants to serve but also wants responsabilities, so being reduced to 'just an other gun' doesnt suit him at all. It doesnt suit his strenghts or potential. Kaidan could easily have been second-in-command to Shepard and instead he does accounting for his biotic squad, lounges around, feels sorry for Liara... In his friendship, Kaidan seems to offer more then soldier camaraderie, he wants Shep to know that he will be there to support her/him when the though choices come . But that never materializes.

What it comes down too is VS never gets to act like a Spectre after the coup. Which doesnt bother me about Ashley because all she wants is to be a soldier. It bothers me about Kaidan. 

Also, you get to chat about Ash's familiy, go see her sister at the memorium wall, find her drunk and when you go eat together, she busts your chops about being a lousy commander. Kaidan has the dinner scene for sanity check, chats about his biotic team but he has no convo on the Normandy (other then click-to-hear Zaeed style) and no personal business on the Citadel. So I dont see how he gets more content then Ash (maybe its just my memory).

Except my Shepard. I do not know why but she looked extremely younger compared to how she looked like in ME2. So my mom and I decided she got a facelift while she was on Earth 

Well, she was suffering from the face import bugg, but I was able to remake her face as close as possible to the ME2 face and she still looked younger.

Not sure if you forgot, missed or the game bugged on you, but he has 2 full cinematic conversations on the Normandy. First after you recruit him and you talk about the war, his family, mom. The second after you finish Jacob's loyalty mission, you talk with him about Cerberus/TIM and Project Lazarus which is just fantastic and one of the reasons why the entire Horizon/Cerberus drama no longer feel alien to Kaidan, or like it was Ashley's story copy+pasted on him. Instead, he takes over it completly and it turns into something great.

With FemShep yes, but mShep's interaction with Kaidan was really lacking due to the fact that Ash is predefined to touch the beacon so you miss on the conversation with Kaidan in the med bay after weakening up AND you can't talk to him after you get out of the med-bay either. Only FemShep can. With Ash, both mShep and FemShep can talk to her immediately after getting out of med-bay, regardless of the fact that it was Kaidan activating the beacon.

Im quite excited as I'm replaying all three games and by the time I get to ME3 the face import bug will be fixed.. I actually really like the way my current ME1 shep looks so will carry her thru all 3 games.. Kaidan's scar is much more prominent in the first game though.. and I'll miss my femsheps scar across her nose
