That being said, there are so much variable to the coup mission than it seems. So far, I've never failed in it through all 4 of my playthroughs (3 with Kaidan, 1 with Ash). Kinda wish somebody will do a video on the different ways the mission can turn up. I never even had the persuade/intimidate option popped up...

Also lol I don't think Kaidan is based on Casey's face. They look too different... I think he looks better in ME3 but I missed Kaidan's darker skin tone... But then he pulls up that puppy eyes...



And really don't be hating on Casey too much. Whether that PA forum post is true or not, you gotta remember that Casey worked hard bringing us the three ME games and no ME means no Kaidan... right?! Also, I actually heard a rumor pre-release that Casey and Peter Wataniuk (sp?- the lead designer) wanted a "happy" ending but something happened along the way that makes the ending as it is. Well, we'll never know for sure, that's the nature of game development. I'm trying to stay optimistic about this Extended Cut DLC but I'll believe it when I see it. Don't need Shenko babies and I'll be satisfied if they can meet each other again.

EDIT: you know when you don't sound coherent at all when you're not asleep by 2.30 a.m... <_<

I think Kaidans better looking than that other guy. I read somewhere that Bioware sometimes base their characters appearance on random people they've seen in the street. Man, it would be so cool to randomly discover someones used your face for a character in a Bioware game.

I wouldn't mind randomly meeting the face model in the street.

So. Finally finished the next chapter of a fanfic I was working on. It's amazing how much having company can distract me from writing about Shep and Kaidan. Bestie's back home though, so should actually be able to update at a decent rate.

dropping in to ask random question: if you play a male shep do you have to actively pursue kaidan for the romance, or does Kaidan drop broad hints like he did for femshep in me3?

TBQH I don't think that there are that many people protesting--the FRC and the "Florida Family Association" (or whatever it's called) are also considered to be hate groups, so that also helps diminish their small-minded impact.

Kaidan drops the hint that he is interested on the Citadel.

Though if you turn him down he is still fine with being bros.

if they dont want s/s romance option

He pretty much drops obvious hints for MaleShep as well, especially during the Apollo Cafe scene...Kaidan very clearly flirts with Shepard during it, Male or Female

I had several friends that bought the 3rd game on my recommendation.. before this ending fiasco.  Anyway, point being I wanted to see how different their playthrough was from mine (which had a ME1/2 imported save file), so I started a Sheploo playthrough, to check out the Kaidan s/s romance and check out what their game was like.  I just finished the coup and I had to convince Kaidan with a paragon dialog.  It seems with a fresh ME3 game the variables are:
 - Council dead in 1
 - Thane dead on suicide mission
 - Kirrahe dead
I have no idea how the romance flags load for a fresh game.  I would think clean slate, but *shrugs*

I also had Udina show the doctored footage.  I guess I didnt get that scene before because Thane saved the councillor?

I will say when I didnt get the "I better not regret this" line I started freaking out pretty bad.  Kaidan was trying to get me to put my weapon down and the dialog options were scary, lol.  I would have really freaked if someone killed him. I was able to convince Kaidan to think it over though. 


Edited to add :  If you dont have to play a fresh ME3 game.. just dont.. ever.  My memorial board has like 20 more names on it then the one in my saved game playthrough.  It was depressing to see how many characters they just didnt put in the 3rd game if you hadnt played the others.  I'm not even sure if I am going to be able to finish it honestly.

Ok, got the face import fix - seems it generates the closest approximate facecode from the original mesh. Not bad, better than what I made myself....

But it's all moot because I still can't play the game because of my ongoing Origin DLC fiasco. GRR!

I miss Kaidan - so I started another ME1 playthrough. Maybe after sending another zillion screens to EA support they will believe me that this isn't my fault.

Yes, their will always be anti gay people. However, I'm like Kaidan in a lot of ways to say I will not let my opinion be based off the actions of a few people in other words I don't judge people based on one person who might be gay.


I haven't played a male Shepard since I find Male Shepard's voice irritating every time I play it.
