Mass Effect 3's Extended Cut has been designed to offer players more personalised endings that better reflect the choices they made throughout the trilogy.

Speaking at the Mass Effect panel at PAX East (via) Penny Arcade, Bioware producer Mike Gamble said: "To be clear, the Extended Cut is not a re-imagining of the ending or a new ending. We're currently building it right now, our cinematics team is on it. Our writers are heavily involved. It's coming together."

So while it won't change the endings per se, it will expand on them to provide "more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey", as previously promised.

Gamble elaborated a little: "We want to give more closure about some of the questions you have, and in general we wanted to give the players a sense of personalisation with the endings.

"Many people mentioned that some of the choices they made in the game are not necessarily reflected in the ending scenes. We're definitely going to focus on things like that. We want to make sure that when you see the ending of Mass Effect, you now have the information and context to be satisfied."

He added: "It wasn't in the game because we didn't know there was such a huge demand for it, to be honest with you."

...we didn't know there was such a huge demand for it ...

are they kidding, right?

Yeah when they said that I think my jaw dropped open briefly and there was some audience noise - but I guess they know now, right? :)

Hey guys, I started a doc as a template for a letter to send to Cathleen Rootsaert as a thank you for her work on Kaidan's character. This is actually the first time I've set up a google doc so bear with me - the link is here and I believe all can comment without having to log in - if you want to be able to edit just ping me and I'll add you to the list happily...

Not sure what direction to take it in but I think it's a nice idea and I'm happy to help coordinate.

That is a great idea, it's nice positive feedback too, just letting them know how much we love our Kaidan yet providing some of our own thoughts too.  I will have a think about what, if anything I'd add to that but that is a great start.

I didn't get the "You should have woken me" clip though :(  How on earth I missed it I have no idea, I spoke to Kaidan every chance I got until you got the generic "We'll talk later" or some such.

Don't feel bad. I've done three play throughs and I've never gotten it either. I'm beginning to think it's a myth. Posted Image

BTw has anyone found any un used Kaidan romance clips in the me3 folders yet o.O

There're no unused voice clips. People already mined the files from the game. But there's some unused stuff from the script. Mainly this scene:

Kaidan: I'm not the best company right now. You might want to leave while you have the chance.
Shepard: What's up?
Kaidan: Nothing. Nothing specifically. Just... everything! I'm ****ing pissed off and I was just looking to blow off some steam in private.
Shepard: I'm listening Kaidan. You can talk to me.
Kaidan: Talking's not going to do anything!
Shepard:Come on. Just breathe for a second.
Kaidan: No, frankly. I want to punch things.
Kaidan: It's all so freaking unfair! We didn't do anything to disserve this. People are dying at the whim, the freaking whim, of something evil. We didn't do anything to the Reapers. We did nothing to incur their wrath. Nothing! Is some kind of payback for the horrific things that we've all done to each other? Do they see us waging war on each other and decide that we all need to die. Well, it's what I need to believe to keep from losing my mind. I need it to make some kind of sense. {Turning to Shepard} But you don't need this. I certainly didn't mean to unload this on you.
Shepard: Next opportunity I order you to take a little time on the Citadel.
Kaidan: I'm fine. I know I'm supposed to be the steadfast one. But every now and then even I gotta blow off steam.
Shepard: I get it. Sometimes you gotta work it out. {pause} I can take it.
Kaidan: I'm glad someone understands.
Shepard: Just make sure that you're getting what you need to keep it together.
Kaidan: What I need is to end this war so that I can get back the life that the Reapers freaking stole from me.
Shepard: {exhale through nose -- "You said it"} Yeah. Okay, take care. I'll maybe see you later.
Kaidan: Sure. I'll be around.

Personally, I'm not sad they cut this one. It's out of character in my personal opinion. Other unused stuff is mainly different (older) versions of romance scenes we have in the game so nothing big

It's from the TLK files, from the beta leak I think (not sure if it's still in the final TLK in released game).

lol... or Vega ( cuz he can cook apparently lol) and Kaidan  baking the cake with Garrus supervising... Tali and Liara also may take her by the adult store ( if they have those on the Citadel, if not the extranet heh.) For 'fun times' after the bday party

@ acidqueen- i agree lol. His wife is a very lucky woman.

Shep's birthday?  In my mind Kaidan's got a nice surprise waiting for her in her quarters, she will just have to unwrap it first :innocent:

And agreed on Sbarge's voice, that is a big part of Kaidan's appeal for me, I have to say.  He definitely could read me anything, anything at all and it'd sound awesome.

Oh, and thanks for posting that clip, I'm even more determined to find it for myself now.  Kaidan doesn't actually have a bunk in that starboard observation lounge, I always wondered if Shep managed to persuade him to share her big double bed ...  I don't think he'd need much persuading, after all they surely wouldn't be governed by fraternisation regs now, surely?

Vega doesn't really mean it, it's just a part of who he is... beside when Shep calls him on it while he's getting the N7 tat, he becomes a blubbering goober... i'm pretty sure Kaidan know's there's no intent there and it's just to blow off steam/ to keep things from getting too tense...

LINK    Just sort of a dramatic imagining of Kaidan at his biotic peak protecting Shepard's body from Reapers near the end of the game...  they never really showed off his biotics enough

Plus they're both Spectres now, so technically rank doesn't apply to either of them [smilie]../../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]
Plus I suppose Alliance brass have bigger concerns than 2 of their best
soldiers shacking up together since it's practically the end of the
world ...
