So I'm not alone in the lack of emotional attachment to Earth in the game. So would I be a monster if was sitting here thinking, 'you know leaving earth to the reapers while we prepare a time and place to kick their arses would be a good idea strategically'.
Oh and the kid... yeah that was just. OK the first part with the kid, I can kind of see that, but every other part with the kid... no. I sure can't see my Shep's having nightmares about him. Kaidan nearly dying on Mars, yes. The destruction of Palavan, yes. Udina... yes, that man gave me nightmares in the first game. But the kid? I just don't see it.
Am I the only one that had wraithlike crew members calling out to me in ghostly voices as I ran through that last dream?
I see both failure and guilt over anything else. While it may be a good strategy, letting Earth go to save the rest of the Galaxy, the death of 13 billion people would haunt me forever - especially knowing that I could've done something, but I ran away. That's what I see the dreams as, not really emotional attachment. Just... hauntings.
No, the whispers are supposed to be there. You'll hear any of your squadmates who've died in the trilogy in both the second and third dreams. In the second dream, all I heard was Ashley. In the third, I heard her again as well as Mordin, Thane, and Legion. It's hard to make out exactly what they're saying, but I think it's something like:
Ashley: Go save the LT. You know it's the right choice. Go!
Mordin: Had to be me. Someone else may have gotten it wrong.
Legion: Does this unit have a soul?
And I think Thane repeats a line from his prayer, but I can't recall.

Every one of those whispers seems to get louder when you near the kid.

With so many people saying that your dead squaddies should have been there I thought maybe I was the one imagining things. They WERE, telling me the very things they did right before they died on me, the quitters. 'Cept Ash. That one was my fault.LadyofRivendell wrote...

While I understand what you are saying, and I also can see my Shepard being haunted by the billions who would die on Earth, however, looking at things from a tactical perspective, trying to save those 13 billion people very well could doom the entire galaxy.
I understand why things were written the way they were, however, I can't stop the stratagist in me from looking at all of the tactical blunders from the war and shaking my head. In the end it's not a matter of having run away, if Shepard stayed on Earth, s/he died.
I also understand that there has to be something personal to the fight, hence Anderson staying behind and the concentration of Earth (even though the Earthborn Shepard most likely doesn't care because s/he was one of the outcast. Spacer Shepard is military through and through having been raised in the military. Most likely Colonial Shepard was on Mindior because her family wanted to be away from Earth). It makes no sense what so ever tatically to put everything toward saving Earth, in the months it took (this was stated in the game) to get everything together and build the Crucible Earth would have been lost. OK I'm going to put the stratagist away for now. I'll upload a Kaidan pic for the overload of strategy/tatical talk.
I'll go with classic Kaidan this time

As far as the dreams.. first time the kid is alright since he just died and represented all the innocent souls on earth... the other dreams really need to be other important people in Shepard's life that died along side her. etc..
MP- finally unlocked some of the newbies.. so far i have the old vanguard krogan (moves like an icebreaker lol)..batarian soldier, asari justicar and geth infiltrator.... and they/ Bioware really needs to give combat movements to the krogan, turian, and batarian.. there's no side hop or roll...which is crap cuz marauders can roll..
anywho, off to bed... i may be mia starting friday, having knee surgery and the computer "the beast" lives upstairs....

Good luck with the knee surgery. I hope it goes well.
I haven't unlocked anything new on MP yet, but I've played with some new characters. The most unfun was two Krogan vanguards who proceeded to just wreck the entire map. I had to scramble for any scraps I could pick off.

I like the dreams....an expresion of doubt, fear and reget/loss
as for earth? yeah, Mila has no real attachment. being a colonist...but it's more or less a test for her, if she can save earth then she can make up for her past mistackes and lose her rep as the Butcher of Torfan
Johanna? hell yeah it's personal, she grew up there.
wow, i think way to much about this...

Good luck with the knee! I'm still unable to play, at this rate I'm going to miss out on the bonus stuff this weekend, I'll never have a Geth
So very, very upset. On the upside, ME1 is proving to be lovely and fun 5th time through.

Lol, leborum, you always make me giggle. That is a good one. I was thinking more along the lines of Sheps not looking like they did in the previous two games, but this moment happens long after he's seen what you look like, heehee.
