the only way i do it is to do either rachni or the victus mission (teh 1 before the bomb), to help the krogan then head straight to cure the genophage then citadel then BOOM kaidan is recruited

well i did the victus mission and it didnt blow up after i got kaidan as i did that 1 with kaidan loads of times

The first book was feedback on the LI's that were available for Shepard. The 2nd book that they are working on now is a tribute book. Here's a a little bit from that thread that pretty much explains what it's about:

Because Project 1 "The Book" was pure LI/character feedback, we wanted to focus Project 2 "The Tribute" more on Shepard and her/his LI. Fanart, screenshots and fan-letters will be accepted for this project, but only featuring the relationship between your Shepard(s) and their respective love interest(s).

For those interested in writing, now’s the time to try your hand at some roleplaying! What did your Shepard see in (LI)? Did you see your Shepard as having something in common with one LI in particular? How would you describe the dynamic of their relationship? What about the interaction of the two characters did you find particularly satisfying from an emotional standpoint, to witness? How much did this aspect of the game add to your overall enjoyment of Mass Effect?

They're also hoping to get fanart contributions as well that feature is Shepard + LI. I gave the go ahead for 3 of my fanarts to be used and thinking about what I'd write as far as a letter of appreciation and how much I think the Kaidan romance rocked my socks.

Okay.. ive been semi-lurking now for a little bit, my 2 cents on the reasons that the VS got so little time compared to Liara/Garrus/Tali...

Because the LI for the VS can be either Ashley or Kaidan, both having totally differing story arcs etc..they wouldve required two seperately drawn/programmed/written game play sections, whereas with Garrus and Liara etc they dont have to do the story twice = more screen time for them, less for our VS LI...

reading Patrick Weekes' stuff from PAX leads me to believe that they just ran out of time and therefore never got to really flesh out the stuff for our VS's...I suspect that there might at some point be some further gameplay dlc with our VS, least thats what the supposed leaks predict...here's hoping at least

It did make sense lol And you are right. It just bothered me that pretty much after the citadel date and up until the love scene there was not a single line of dialogue. Other than that they really did a good job on his romance. I just hope we will get some dlc with him. I have a feeling we will be getting some on vega because he flirted all the way through the game, it was like Bioware wanted to test people to see if they liked him and probably saved his romance for dlc in case he got popular :-)

It is always the problem with limited ressources. And too much LIs to have for everyone enough screen time. Let's hope they will fix this in a dlc.

From what I have heard Ashley got less screentime than Kaidan. It is strange that both were handled differently, it is really hard to understand.

I don't think that Kaidan got so much less screentime than Garrus. You start on Mars with Kaidan but without Garrus, you have the hospital scenes/dialog and can give Kaidan a gift. You have the citadel coup and from that point on Kaidan is with you on the Normandy. Kaidans romance scene is definitely longer and you have the Cerberus talk. I think it only feels if Garrus has more content because there are some short scenes/dialog that you can have with him during the early game where Kaidan is not available yet, like speaking about the genophage or after mordins death. And Tali seems to have even less than Kaidan, because she is very late in the game and there is only the dialog on her missions. It is only natural that we want to have as much screentime as possible for our beloved characters and to have favourite characters joining the game late sucks...in case of VS they could really have let the coup start earlier.

@ Enigma, there are two cutscenes with Kaidan and Shepard between the date and the love scene, once after you rescue the scientists and one straight after you get him on board the Normandy... granted not a great deal of screen time but considering what it wouldve taken them to switch out Kaidan and Ashley's dialogue etc.. not at all surprising..

I suspect I must be about the only Kaidanite that wasnt really that bothered with the amount of time we got with him... The small scenes that we did get and all the time I took him with me in my squad satisfied me, of course.. If they do decide to go with DLC for the VS I will be all over that bad boy in a heartbeat lol

Yeah I know about the 2 cutscenes, I just always get them before the date :-) So it feels like I have to do like 10 missions without anything until the love scene happens.

 I actually like the way they did the character interactions in ME3 better than the other two games. It feels like people have more to say during the missions and they comment more about the missions, and they talk to each other more. 

It's true, they just can't make the game all about whichever character you like best. While it would be so awesome if they could do that. Imagine if characters started getting more lines and became more involved with the story depending on how often you talked to them and took them on missions. That way everyone could have their best friend, their love interest, etc be truly part of the story. They would then be truly yours and not ones the devs just thought would be who you would choose. 

It's all a matter of resources. 

I do still wish there was more Kaidan. That coup should have started earlier. I understand why they did it. I feel like Kaidan needed that moment and perhaps even Shep needed that moment to grow or to see the growth. Kaidan needed to trust and Shep needed to be trusted.

Or not I guess depending on how it all plays out

Does any of you know when the first cutscene with Kaidan on the Normandy about his parents "expire"? I always make it trigger as soon as I get him out of fear that I won't get it :-)

I am going to take my chances and hope for a dlc...

I always go straight to get that scene too, so I'm afraid I don't know how long it lasts.

I have two days off and since I'm feeling ill, and more than a bit sorry for myself I'm going to have a good run at completing ME1 with my Paragon femShep, and might even get on to ME2.

On the subject of cons, UK fans might be interested to know that Massive Events have announced a Grimm/Once Upon a Time themed mini-con for next year.

So far only David Giuntoli (Nick from Grimm) has been announced so I'm going to keep an eye out and see who else they announce. If it's Sbarge, I'll be really tempted. A friend of mine went to Hallowhedon last year, organised by the same people and he had a blast so I'm considering doing that this year with him.

Wait, really? I would love that. I don't feel like we're entitled to more content, but I would be so excited to get it. Considering the shaft the ME2 LI's got, I feel pretty spoiled with the Kaidan romance. And especially poor FemShep. Jacob's so over her, and Thane's dead. At least BroShep can have standing plans to get back together with Jack or Miranda.

I'd totally buy the Kaidan one, but I doubt they'll make them all which makes me sad because then Kaidan would be a low priority. Although they might ask us to vote I actually think the Kaidan one looks the best, no biased, I couldn't see myself wearing any other.

But it's how Bioware does them now... If they make them like the awful N7 Full armor hoodie that uses that awful print, then they'd be awful.
