On a sidenote, is it only the consoles that have an overabundance of cyan overlay during some scenes, or do you PC people have the same issue?

One of the many lines in ME3 that annoyed the hell out of me was Liara's line about Kaidan becoming quite capable, Kaidan was always capable, even before he met Shepard.

It's been a while since played ME3, but I think most of the color palettes in ME3 is kind of ... blue? Well, it reminded me a lot of blue. There is a PC mod that amplifies that "blueness" for the entire playthrough, cutscenes and all, but you need a very hefty graphics card power.

I think what I like most about Kaidan is that he isn't broken and doesn't need fixing. He doesn't need Shepard in that he can function quite successfully without her. He has his own morals and principles and isn't a yes man who needs to tag onto Shepard to feel good about himself or shore up his self esteem..
One of the many lines in ME3 that annoyed the hell out of me was Liara's line about Kaidan becoming quite capable, Kaidan was always capable, even before he met Shepard.
Yeah, you're bang on here. When you look at a lot of the other male romantic companions in Bioware titles, the relationships consist of a lot of contrived drama because the characters are fundamentally flawed. In most recent memory, we have Alistair, who is sweet and lovely but really is a trainwreck and completely dependent on the Warden to tell him how to behave; in DA2 Fenris is a seething little ball of rage, and let's not even open the can of worms that is Anders...
Kaidan is like a breath of fresh air comparatively speaking. People call him boring, but honestly, the only thing that's "boring" about him is that he's not crying or screaming every 5 seconds about how awful his life is. Even his backstory with Rahna isn't really a big deal -- as he says, he's a 32 year old man, he's dealt with it and moved on.
What I like about him is that he's not just a cut & dried archetype of morality, either. He genuinely struggles with right and wrong and isn't afraid to explore the gray expanse between them. He's not too proud to admit when he's been mistaken about something, like the Horizon incident. One of my favourite conversations with Kaidan is after the Cerberus scientists mission in ME3, where he examines the motives of Cerberus and The Illusive Man based on what he knows, what he's seen, Shepard's death and revival, and how he feels for Shepard, because the lines between good/evil, wrong and right, seem to be crumbling around him. But he doesn't expect Shepard to tell him what to think, either. He just works through it on his own.
Carth was the same way, really, and it's why I liked him too. Carth was probably even more uncompromising of his moral character, tbh.

Interesting read!
When done in moderation and tastefully, I think colour overlays can be a nice addition. I mean, I myself am guilty of amplifying the warmer tones on my photography. But it seems like it's done to such an extreme in ME3!
Examples:
Unedited to edited
Unedited to edited
Unedited to edited
A bit much for my tastes, at least. Thank goodness for Photoshop! At least we don't have the shiny foreheads of doom anymore, but ME2 had nice, warm tones. Why not ME3?

As much as I know Alistair is flawed I still adore him, lol. And Carth was my first pixelated LI. So along with Kaidan they make up the big 3 for me in terms of game LI's,Kolotosa wrote...

It's just me, but I like the cyan overlay in the game. Or maybe I just like the color blue.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong... Alistair was great and I probably drove my boyfriend to the point of madness with that one, lol. There was so many sweet, (literally) fantastically romantic moments; the rose was just mindblowingly adorable, but they really laid on the drama thick in the last third of the game, and you had to metagame the heck out of things or just be selfish as Hell to get the "happily ever after" with him. My first Warden was a dwarf who got her heart stomped all over by that would-be King. After that...episode...I only ever rolled Couslands or made sure to harden him.
In contrast, the Kaidan romance is just so...relaxed. Normal, I guess. They have their issues, of course, but they just...figure it out. Like regular, functional adults. How novel! lol

Alistair is in another level of adorable. I didn't made him King of Ferelden for my elf mage because I didn't harden him. I just like him who he is. Besides RPing as a mage, with forcibly living in a tower, the last thing she would want to do is forcing someone to follow an unwanted obligation! Then again I did play my mage as a bit selfish. Ho, ho.
As far as which romance subplot is more romantic (which is so hard to choose) : I think because Kaidan's romance plot spans three subsequent games, Kaidan's the one who is the more romantic.

I felt literally sick after my first playthrough as a Dalish Elf when Alistair dumped me. Of course, I only chose Elf because I assumed they would be the "wisest and fairest of all beings". Elves in DA are pretty much the same as Quarians in ME in my opinion, both entitled, whiny, prejudiced, and insanely annoying. Since then, I've only ever played human.
Anyways, I still adore Alistair, but something that continues to bother me is the fact that he's so passive, even if you harden him and make him King. Sure, he does get better, but the Warden wears the pants in the relationship. Even DA2 implies this, seven years after the marriage!
This is an entirely personal preference, but I need equality in a relationship, essentially the alpha male and alpha female combination. And that's what I love about Kaidan and Shep's romance, each one is dominant and equally in control.
Still, they're both great guys, but IRL I don't think I could ever maintain a steady relationship with Alistair (if he were real). I'd love to see what Carth is like, but the fact that I have to disable cutscenes to even play KotOR has left me a bit lost as to what the heck is going on. And the fact that my character can't move after combat ends is also a turn off... I did read Carth's character page on the Star Wars Wiki, but it doesn't mention his romance at all.

I'm awful at songfics <_< Well, worse than I usually am with regular stories, anyways. I'm currently writing five stories (three Shenko, one co-written, one original) and I can't seem to focus enough to finish one. Baaaaah.

omg, like trying to pick a favourite child.
Challenge, accepted.
Speaking of which, I'm ashamed of myself for neglecting to add earlier what I consider to be THE MOST AMAZING LOVE SONG EVER to the list. I have remedied the situation.
Gorecki by Lamb.
Edit: Damn it, screwy forums and ToP.

Dude, Kaid, you just going to stand there and let Vega stare at your woman's chest?
