 My mother is kind of adorable in her attempts to understand video games. She plays Farmville like a crazy woman so she thinks we have something in common now as "gamers". I just want to pat her on the head. :3 

But last time I was home I was playing Mass Effect 2 with my Sheploo and she kept asking me who that "terrorist looking fellow" was. 

"That's Commander Shepard, mum. He's a big goddamn hero"
"Well he looks like a terrorist all shaven like that."
"I... Hey, don't you have something to harvest?"

Haha, that hilarious My mother just tends to change the subject if I bring up video games. I showed her a video of the Kaidan's romance scene and she just turned around and start talking to my daughter BUT she does think Mr. Sbarges voice is very sexy, hah

Hmmm while I love the Femshep romance with Kaidan in 3 I am half tempted to roll a Maleshep for the Steve romance... /sigh

 I just can't seem to romance anyone but Kaidan - though I won't lie. Jack does tempt me to roll a ManShep because I absolutely adore her. Of course, knowing me, I'd end up cheating on her with Kaidan in 3 anyway. XD I tried Garrus, but I couldn't finish playing after turning down Kaidan during the date scene - it broke my heart, and Garrus just isn't enough to keep me going. I might have been able to keep my Thanemance going - but, well. You know.

It does have some downsides. My mother in law was here to visit last week. When i opened my laptop and she saw my background she asked who it was. I said he was a video game character that I very much enjoy. Well, her not liking video games at all just gave me some nasty look and raised eyebrows. Gotta love family

*snicker*  I have Kaidan as the background on my phone too.  I went out to lunch a few weeks ago with some girls I used to work with and we were showing pics.  Of course one of them accidently backed all the way out of the pics to the background and I had to explain who Kaidan was.  People who dont play video games, and specificially people who dont play RPGs will never understand the attraction of a pixelated character.

My inlaws think I'm nuts anyway. 

As for your next playthrough Doodle... Steve.

My mom is fine with me playing video games. She actually sits behind me when I'm playing it and she likes to watch it. She knows every character by name, and she gets all excited when there is a Shenko scene. We cried together during Kaidan's goodbye scene

I'm not sure if my mother would understand or not. She really liked the King's Quest series back when I was a kid, but she hasn't really played a video game since then. I think she'd approve of Kaidan, though. Maybe I should show her some clips next time I see her.

My husband now, he doesn't quite understand the obsession - but every time he starts on me about it, I just remind him that somehow, he managed to end up married to both Vette and Jaessa in SWTOR. That usually works.

I did the Ashley romance with my Sheploo, and it was a little ... underwhelming for me, but then my Male Shep was a bit of a player because he slept with both Jack and Miranda in 2 before getting Ashley to take him back.

The Thane romance is actually very sweet and I cried my eyes out the first time I saw what happened to him in 3. I might like to do the Cortez romance too, that would be very sweet I reckon. Kaidan is far and away the best though, it's the best written IMO.

I have a friend who's husband did that in SWTOR it's funny talking to her about it - she's an RPG gamer as well.

All this discussion makes me glad I'm single and my family lives on the other side of the country from me :innocent:

Yeah. I was faithful to Ash with my Sheploo, but it was still kind of "enh". I liked it at the time, but then I did the Kaidan romance with my FemShep and I realised how boring Ash's really was. The best part was her getting drunk and that's pretty independent of the relationship anyways.

I find myself in an odd place because I love FemShep in ME3, like her a lot her in ME1, and pretty much hate her in ME2; she sounds bored out of her mind most of the time, with the exception of when she talks to jacob, at which point she morphs into a lascivious predator. It makes ME2 difficult to get through, even though I want to play it through for the Shenko angst.  XD


I have a Garrus romance that I want to do one day, because I think his is probably the second most awesome next to Kaidan. Traynor is actually kind of tempting as well, 'cause she's so cute, but I don't know. It feels weird to me to start up a fresh romance in ME3; like, just really bad timing.

Unless it was Vega. Because hoo boy, my Renegade would break herself off a piece of that in a heartbeat.

Haha, I like my family though! They understand my love for video game quite well. Even my dad sits aroud to watch final missions

It's not like my mom disapproves of me playing video games, I mean I'm
30. She just doesnt care about them. The last game I saw her play was
Super Mario on my Game boy when I was like 12? Wow, thats a long time

ME2 is still my favourite of all the games, it has two of my other favourite characters in it in Mordin and Thane, and I loved the story. Honestly, not having your LI from ME1 in it makes it all the sweeter when you get them back in 3, but that's just my opinion.

I liked Ash, I think had she lived she'd have been BFF with my femShep, and I hate having to make that choice on Virmire. I hate what was done to Ash in ME3 though, didn't do her justice at all.

I never romanced Ash, partly because I never much cared for her and partly because I very much could not do a whole run with Meer's voice.  Edit: Okay, and in large part because Kaidan was right there.

I'm having a horribly silly time right now imagining drunk Shep singing karaoke to Magic Wand of Love while Vega tries to drag her away and EDI analyzes the whole scene.

First couple of times I played ME I couldn't stand Ash at all.  Then the third or forth time I played through, I started talking to her more and found out she wasn't so bad.  However, she still doesn't get past Virmire for me.  I'm just not going to leave Kaidan behind.  Though I did try one time, spent an hour staring at the screen before deciding to go back and get Kaidan anyway.

That's pretty much my take on Liara too, I've never done a Liara romance with any of my Sheps, and it's unlikely I will either.  For the sake of completion I should, but every time I come to a flirt option with her, I just can't bring myself to do it.  Was easier with Ash and my Sheploo although I absolutely hated leaving Kaidan on Virmire, I very nearly went back for him ...
