Ok, a few questions for you lovelies:

What resolution do you guys use for a 24 inch monitor for ME2?
Where the heck can I buy BioWare points to get the DLC for ME2?
Where in the world did my screenshots for ME1 go?
What is flycam? How much is it?
Does anyone use Fraps to record their gameplay? How is it?

Ok, thats it for now...more than a few I guess

I had all the ME games for Xbox and bought the first two months and months ago for my new computer and I just recently started playing them.  My son wants me to get finished and get to ME3 so I can do MP with him.  I don't feel like I play as well on the PC as I do Xbox though  :(

I just started ME2.  Dreading Horizon and looking forward to it as well.  Any chance to see Kaidan  ;)

I got my 24" monitors from the Dell site - they have some that are more upper end of the 24" market that do 1920x1200, which is my preferred size. My pair are over 5 years old now but still going strong :)

Bioware points are available from the origin store. You can't buy them with Paypal, only with a credit card or possibly other cards, but definitely not PayPal (grr, can't use my play fund to buy game points!)

What?  I thought I had seen every episode of Bones ever made.  Apparently I missed one.  *Runs off to find on the internets*

Also, thank god they finally put him back on OUAT last night.  And with the strange pinocchio allusions from the promo, I think we might see more of him in the final 3 episodes for the season.

Wow. Go to sleep for six hours, come back to four pages. You people are talkative today.

I never realized how lucky I am to have a husband who also writes fanfic - though he does tend to stay with OCs. But then again, I did meet him while MUSHing - and that was 14 years ago. We still MUSH today. When I asked him to read KMA, he did give me a patient look and ask me 'How many of these things are you going to write?', but I just grinned and he rolled his eyes, then read it. :P

*snugs* Ieborum. I want to bop your hubby on the nose. It's not right for him to mock you and make you feel ashamed because you enjoy writing fanfic. It's a very healthy response to reading/watching/playing something that you enjoy - and certainly, it's a lot healthier than what a lot of people get up to when they 'obsess' over something. It shows imagination and creativity. Don't delete your work, don't stop, and don't hide it from him. If he mocks you for it, you turn right around to him and you tell him that you're proud of your writing, and if he can't appreciate it, he can at least have the courtesy to keep his trap closed about something that makes you feel good. (Then mock him about some habit of his you don't like :P)

I'm mostly a lurker on this thread but just wanted to say how much I enjoy it, always fun to catch up on pages I've missed ^^
and someone correct me if I'm wrong but even though the Tali and Miranda threads have more posts I'm under the impression that this thread is on the way to being the first LI thread to reach 1000000 views in which case yay for the amount of Kaidan love <3

I was already writing fanfiction when my husband and I met 9 years ago. I was into Star Wars and Harry Potter at time. He knows I enjoy it and it my way to express myself and unwind, like video games for him. I don't mock him for gaming (I'm not a "gamer", I only play ME), he doesn't mock me for fanfic writing. He hasn't expressed interest in reading it though, but that's fine with me...  Image IPB

leborum - I'm sorry to hear you deleted your work. Don't be ashamed of your hobbies and interests. Remind your husband that you respect his interests and he should respect yours.

Given the number of people on this thread talking about their significant others and their fanfic, you at least have a pile of anecdotal evidence to prove that stereotype wrong. Count me on, oth on the eye-rolling husband and the people who think you should recover what you can from your computer and write what makes you happy.

My hubby gets snippets of plot and has even given me ideas for my Kaidanized version of ME2 but to my knowledge he's never read a sentence of it. He just regards fanfic as a part of my obsession, no stranger than his reading a catalog of mimiatures for his tabletop gaming. Geeks come in a lot of perfectly healthy flavors!

Graceyn, Chibievil, dstrawberrygirl: Thank you for your replies.  I'm too scared to edit my files as I'm afraid I'll mess something up, so I guess I won't be trying flycam.  Though I did eyeball Chibievils and loved them.  *jealous*  I will check out the fraps thing, but not sure about the stuff to edit as I'm afraid of that too.

My monitor is set at 1920x1080 so I guess I'll leave it there, I just thought things in the game were looking....elongated?  That's the only way I can describe it, I think.

I'm going to check into getting points today (on origin, ty again strawberry!)  I guess I was looking in the wrong place. I just can't imagine playing ME2 w/o LotSB, Overlord and Arrival.

Years ago, I used to not be afraid of my computer and I did whatever I wanted on it and didn't mess up stuff.  But these days I'm too intimidated.

leborum:  Do what makes you happy.  That's the best advice.  I don't write, I have stuff in my head, I just never put it on paper.  ( I said more but it seemed to be getting too deep, lol).

So, in closing (finally, lol!) I am going to try and get some Kaidanie good screenshots, but w/o flycam  :(.  The ME1 screenshots are nowhere to be found sadly and I THOUGHT I was going to have SOOOOO many good shots of Kaidan  :crying:

I have to agree with all of this. Maybe he just isn't aware that it's hurtful, and nicely telling him so will help prevent that sort of thing in the future. No one should have to feel shame or hide a healthy outlet or hobby from their significant other. If he wants to be mean about it after that point, tell him that's his issue to deal with and get on with writing what you want. Any sort of mockery from that point on says something about the mocker's character, and not a damn thing about you. <_<

That is so cool.  My husband writes as well, previously of the general fiction variety but recently starting to veer into fanfic territory, but he hasn't put any of it "out there" (which is a shame, because he's a wonderful writer).  When we got married he was a geek but I wasn't, not really.  It's more fun now B).

@leborum:  Though I may be fully "out" to my husband, I'm not out to the rest of the world.  Family/friends know I play video games and program, but that's the extent of it.  I'm STILL embarrassed/afraid to share it too publicly, but watching other peoples' hobbies is helping me get there.  The fact is, just about every "hobby" is weird and strange to those that don't understand it.  People that spend their free time obsessing over model trains, or restoring vintage bikes, or making cute appliques for clothes or, well, fantasy baseball have no right to look down upon our hobby, dammit!  But few people think broadly beyond their own life, so...

My apartment is a shrine to obsession. There's at least one Transformer in every room. The main focal point of the dining room is the two posters of our WoW characters (I won a contest and was able to have our characters and my best friend's done). The tops of all five bookshelves (filled to the brim with sci fi/fantasy/manga) are covered in everything from garden gnomes to Voltron to a set of Star Trek Pez dispensers. I have framed signed photos from the casts of Star Trek and Xena on the office walls, prints of Robin Wood's Dragonriders of Pern portraits, half-naked women, and lots of Elmore in the kitchen and living room. Dragons, faeries, and eagles are everywhere. I've been holding off getting any ME stuff - but with the new posters they're hinting at, I have a feeling that soon my office walls will be plastered.

I guess the point I'm getting at is that we ALL obsess over something. We're geeks - we have geeky stuff. My brother-in-law is not a geek. His house has an entire room dedicated to NASCAR and Tony Stewart - as does my mother-in-law. My own parents have Thomas Kincade prints and collector plates everywhere. My father, who is a geek, has an office full of Terminator and Aliens stuff. I know people who have baseball shrines, football rooms, and DVD collections of their favorite actors.

At least writing fanfic doesn't cost money AND it expands the imagination and mind!

Check the dimensions of your monitor or see if 1920x1200 is available maybe?  Some monitors are more "wide-screen" than others (16:9 vs 16:10 ratio).

If you do decide to mod anything, just make a backup of the file and stick it somewhere else; then if you screw it up you can just replace it with the old file.  It's fairly hard to break stuff that way.

About fanfic and significant others. My first husband was completely supportive of my fanfic addiction, if not completely supportive of my nerdiness. Both writing and reading, he had no issue with it.

My second husband was in complete support of my nerdiness - as he is a nerd as well - however, he liked to make fun of me writing fanfic, though he reads it. Just not the same stuff I do or that I write.

Now I'm single and I don't worry about it, even have a couple friends who proof my more tame pieces for me.

Moral here is don't let anyone tell you there's anything wrong with what you do, be yourself and enjoy what ever you want to. I learned that the hard way, so at 42 I am finally figuring out who I am, what kind of music I like, and the things that I enjoy, instead of what someone else likes or enjoys.

I dunno.  Sounds pretty geeky to me.  Which goes to Graceyn's point that anything looks weird to someone who doesn't participate in the same things.
