Yeah those onboard cards really don't play well with games, hence the reason I'm really picky about my laptops.
*EDIT* ToP again... that's 3 I think I might break my record today...
*snip*
I'm the same, so picky about my laptops in general but especially so for any gaming rigs. I had a wonderful Alienware that was all kitted out but a certain someone *gives evil glare to hubby on neighbouring desk* spilled something on it and killed it. But I've now got one that I spec'd up myself so all is good for the moment.
I kit out my desktops, build them myself, my laptop just needs to be able to actually play the games I like to play it doesn't need to be super great, since I only use it for gaming when I am not at home, or really really really don't want to sit at my desk.
I used to do my own desktops but then I moved onto gaming laptops because I liked that they were portable. I keep tossing the idea around to build another gaming desktop but then I start looking into the latest and greatest video cards, start thinking about cooling, processors and RAM etc and I go a bit gooey eyed and over excited about the whole thing. I tend to play most things on the Xbox these days or my newly aquired PS3. It has the added benefit that my son and I can both sit on the couch without him trying to push me off of my desk chair lol.
I prefer building systems myself when possible, makes it a more personal thing I guess, like this isn't just my computer it's my little dear or something. Still trying to decide on a name for this one (It's almost awkward how often
"Normandy" has come up as a suggestion, both from me and others. I'm resisting it but... gah. x_x).
Of course... when you get problems like these it's kind of really bothersome.
