All suicide lines!  ;)

The boymonster is playing inFamous and I can't concentrate on anything. I want to purge my story from my system but at my current rate -- approximately one sentence per hour -- I won't be done for months. <_<

I know that feeling! Just when you want to focus and get it done your attention is dragged away to something else. Stupid r/l interfering again! Image IPB

I would love the option to say, "Could we maybe talk about this in the other room, Alenko?"  I suppose he's in shock and feeling terribly guilty but, really, Kaidan, it's not the time or place.  My cabin, on the other hand...  :innocent:

ETA that I love the way people move around the Normandy in ME3, as though they had better things to do than stand in one place in case you wanted to talk to them.  It made everyone feel more like a team to find them interacting with each other instead of just standing around isolated.

Yep I always wondered that, it would seem a more appropriate discussion for when they don't have the entire squad as an audience.

It is a bit jarring, especially since Kaidan is the one pressing the issue. It's a strong contrast to their whole "keep things professional" promise, especially since at that point in the game, nothing has really happened, it's just some untoward feelings and expressions of interest.

It's not hard to imagine that they might both be upset and/or not thinking clearly, but it really isn't a conversation that should have taken place in the war room. It's made a bit more jarring by the way everyone else just sits there and doesn't say anything, like it's completely normal for the Commander and her lieutenant to be having a heartfelt meltdown in the middle of the mission.

I usually pick the "renegade" option during that scene regardless of the kind of Shepard I'm playing, because at least then she attempts to rationalise it in an actually logical way instead of "but I luuuuub yooooo!"

I always figure everyone else is so uncomfortable at watching this conversation that they're trying to pretend they're not there.  If they don't talk or move maybe Shep and Kaidan won't notice they're still there and be humiliated into puddles on the war room floor.  :?

Hahaha you're probably right.

Reminded me of this (terrible quality).

it is understandble that they would be shaken. and feeling a shared sense of greif and loss.
but I agree that there should have been an opption to say" well talk about it later" unless Renagade does that? i've never picked the renagade opption for that moment.
or maybe if it took place after the debrifing, before informing the conciel..
with Kaidan taking Shepard aside with a " shepard, i need to know.."

At the very least you should be able to ask the others to leave (or they should start hemming and hawing and excuse themselves).  :P

Kolo, that's just about perfect.

Wow I go to bed and everyone gets chatty /sigh

On the topic of the after Virmire chat, yes it was weird that it took place in the briefing room with everyone present. Not counting the relationship between them, Kaidan is openly questioning his COs orders, and that is a big no no. In private depending on the CO maybe, but in front of other members of the crew.. uh huh... really really bad things happen.

Liara would probably just sit there, wide-eyed and confused as to why the others are leaving, drinking in the whole scene and feeling jealous that Shepard obviously cares about Kaidan so much.  <_<

Chibi, that's what I miss so much about the Mako: you never knew when it was going to launch you off in some bizarre direction becuse a screw fell out of some Geth right in your path.  :D

Me too. I have this morbid fascination with testing the limits of my survival vs geography in games. It's become a sort of running joke in this household. Every time my boyfriend hears those ominous words uttered...

"...I wonder if I can fall off this..."

he knows hilarity will probably ensue.

Edit: morbid and mordib (muad'dib??) are not the same thing.

I'm an "I wonder what happens if I" kind of person in video games.  "Edge of the map?!  It keeps going!  I must explore.  [dies]"

Haha, yep same here. It usually happens when I'm playing with my son and always starts with the words "I wonder if......" only to be soon followed by "Ahhhh noooo!" from me and hysterical laughter from him.

It must be genetic. The first thing my youngest does when playing any game is find increasingly larger drops to see from just how high he can fall without dying.

The Mako makes for excellent fanfic fodder, if you're open to mocking Shep and her chosen companions. Naturally for me that means Kaidan and Garrus.

I second this, really. I picked the more upper choices the first time around, ages ago, but since then I've typically held to the lower spectrum because it feels like it just makes the scene make that much more sense.

It also makes Kaidan's s"Sorry for anything I said up there. Adrenaline." apology when you chat with him privately afterwards feel like it makes the whole thing work. Stressed out rationalizations and slightly raised tempers just strikes me as more suitable - at least as far as Kate is concerned.

Poor Kaidan. He already suffers horrendous migraines, and then he gets the dubious honor of riding around in the Mako with Shepard every mission. I imagine he's far too polite/in love to ever say anything about her callous disrespect for the rules of gravity, just suffers it with quiet dignity.

And then probably vomits for an hour afterwards.

Garrus, on the other hand, gives her large rations of crap.  I can imagine Kaidan trying to beg off going on those missions.

"Gosh, I'd love to go explore that moon Commander but the ration-dispenser has gone on the fritz again.  We wouldn't want to starve to death, would we?"
"Kaidan, we just had breakfast half an hour ago."
"I know, but...uh...biotics need a lot of food so...uh...Liara's going to need lunch..."
"Get in the Mako, Alenko." <_<
"Yes, sir."  :(
