Shade of skin could be abit darker in ME1, true, but it's hard for me to say, whether it was a result of poorer engine and textures andor my laptop video or something else.As for Kaidan, I always thought there might be a little Asian ancestry, but also possibly Middle Eastern and even Hispanic.
I'd possibly think about hispanic origins as well, if not for his turki name and obvious turki-ukrainian surname. And, oh, I just returned from Istanbul yesterday, you know, that's where the feeling about his turki origins came to me. I hope my husband didn't notice me staring on young turks...and that he would never check my browsing history as well...:innocent:
Major Kaidan Alenko in ME3: We're going to need a bigger boot.

*cough* Kaidan (and Caden/Kaden/Cayden/Kayden/etc) is a very popular name right now here in the U.S. You guys are focused too much on spelling and not enough on the phonetics. Just like my first daughter will be named Aileen, not Eileen (because, sorry mom, I don't like the leading 'E'), a lot of people will take a popular name and add/change a few letters to make it pretty in their eyes.
Alenko honestly could swing either eastern European or Asian for me - I can definitely see the Russian/Ukranian possibility, but I can also see how it could be oriental.
As for his looks, you can't go by ME3 for looks. I mean - even if you don't take into account Ashley and Kaidan's bleaching, just take a look at Anderson. He's very clearly at least partially black (and very likely full) in 1 and 2, then in three he starts out as being "maybe" mulatto - only to become a nice tanned white man at the very end (once they stick a cap on his head so you can't see his hair). In ME1/2 Kaidan's skin was olive complected and his eyes definitely had that tilted, lidless oriental cast to them.
I think part of the statement that BW is trying to make with these mixed up, unstated races is the fact that by the time ME comes around, the world doesn't really divide itself by race anymore. There's no real national boundaries (I think there's a few "nations", but they're more reference points, since all of Earth is the Alliance). So Kaidan Alenko might have some Hungarian or Japanese or Australian roots - but what he is seems to be Canadian, since that's where he indicates his parents live, and where he grew up before being sent to Jump Zero.
ETA: I'd also like to point out how wonky genetics is. I have a slight eastern European cast to skin and features - but my sister used to get mistaken for Marina Sirtis when she was in college, and once had a boyfriend whose parents were immigrants from Greece who declared upon meeting her "She looks more Greek than us!". And we have never found evidence of any Grecian heritage in either side (German/Polish on my father's, Scot/Irish/English on my mother's).

People will insist on invading other places and leaving genetic presents, won't they? No wonder the Reapers are so interested in Humans.

what do you expect to be in the DLC ec LINK
I expect it to be, in Wrex's words, "better than I feared, worse than I hoped." It'll probably take me some time to mash my headcannon in again. It'll explain the poo we got and that's about it. Hope springs eternal though right?

would you like This
Instead of Either Kaidan or Ahsley dying on Virmire
to be honest i would rather none of them dying than choosing between the one shepard loves, or her best friend
It would've been nice to be able to save them both, for sure. I like what they did in ME2 with the Virmire Redux. You might have to choose between Miranda/Jack and Tali/Legion but if you have high enough renegade or paragon you can save them both. They could've just made it very difficult to save Ashley and Kaidan.
I love a challenge

Auto correct also just told theboymonster I wasn't hungry because I just got a chicken crap from McDonald though, so not sure I should encourage it
