I'm trying a playthrough of ME3 with a borrowed/downloaded FemShep who romanced Liara and let Kaiden die. I thought it would be fun having a different experience but it's NOT! It just isn't Mass Effect if it doesn't have Kaiden for me. I like seeing my pal Ash tho.
I started my renegade Shep last night, couldn't find a face I liked so I remade the character like 4 times... finally gave up and went with standard mShep face. Oh how I wish you could skip the intro videos. Anyway, I'm worried I'll have to end up shooting Kaidan as renegade

Every single Bioware game I always stick to one romance, Alistair, Kaidan, Fenris, Carth etc. Once I romance someone I find it hard to do so with someone else. <3
I always play exactly the same way, I never find it boring. I love my 'canon'
I did romance Anders the first time but then that "incident" happened with the Chantry and it's been Fenris ever since!

I really liked DA2, yes it's not Origins and I know people complain about the maps being reused but I think the story is really interesting and the characters are really good. I'd definitely recommend it! I've probably played it more than DA:O but that's partly because I can't stand the Fade mission.txmn1016 wrote...
So I'm thinking of finally picking up DA2. Can you guys and gals give me a yay or nay on whether or not I should?
I was going to do it right after I finished DA:A but I heard so many bad things about it (including that my Warden wasn't present) so I wanted to put some emotional distance between myself and the first game(s) before I got it so I could give myself the chance to really like it on its own terms.

I ended up trading my BioShock games in before I'd finished playing them. I found them quite dark and got put off when someone sent me the article in which Ken Levine says he understood that they failed with the ending and failed to realize what affect it was going to have on people. Which always amuses me when he's the same one who defended artistic integrity for BioWare a few months ago.txmn1016 wrote...

Now that is interesting. So I'll probably put Bioshock on hold to make sure my heart remains mostly intact for the EC.
Oh, and I also hate that stupid Fade quest.

I have to admit I never finished DA:O but I may go back and replay it (or Skyrim) unless the EC drops soon-ish. I have at least one more Shepard to do (Liara or Tali LI I'm not sure which yet). The ME universe is just so fun to play in compared to many others.
I didn't care much for Bioshock.

...all my rage!
But seriously, it seems like he encountered a pretty similar problem with ME3. The game (or at least the climax of the game) could have and probably should have ended after the Anderson scene. A few blasts from the Crucible, Reapers destroyed, etc. Instead they had to drag it out by including the total mind **** god child scene, which just left people feeling like

DA:O was actually really hard for me to get into. I think probably because I played ME first. But after I got about half way through the game I started to really enjoy it. Then I loved it by the end. And I mostly loved Awakening, although I'll admit that the Brood Mother boobs horrified me.

When I first started playing DA2 I was a little disappointed, I think because I loved DA:O so much and DA2 has a very different feel to it. However once I gave it some time I felt that it is a very good game in it's own right. The reused maps get a little old and the combat seems repetitive but I think the characters and story are great. I have played it through about 8 times (and I romanced Fenris every time! Ahhh... Fenris.) I kind of feel like playing it again now actually.

Personally I found DA2 easier to get into than DA:O because of the voiced character etc like ME. But everyone's different so it'd be interesting to see what you think!

This really isn't anything about the MCM. I just had to say that I loved your signature--these are two of my favorite characters. And Ash has never made it past Virmire in my three playthroughs. And Fenris was my LI three times for DA2. I'm ridiculous and I'm well aware of it.
Every single Bioware game I always stick to one romance, Alistair, Kaidan, Fenris, Carth etc. Once I romance someone I find it hard to do so with someone else. <3

That's exactly my taking--although I haven't play KOTOR, but there are some ladies that are kind of pushing it. Alistair is just beffudlingly adorable, Fenris is so brooding, although I do wish you got a little more smexy time with him, and of course Kaidan. Ashley has never lived through any of my playthroughs and I only feel a teeny tiny bit of bad for it. My husband always makes fun of me, saying 'Don't you wanna play a different game?' And I'm like, I play a different class or renegade versus paragon, that's something.

I think I was also kind of put off by how different the face graphics were. So characters that were in Origins that showed up in DA2 looked completely different (I'm thinking of Zevran in particular). Did this bother anyone while playing?
Yeah Alistair and Zevran did not fare well in that department unfortunately.

Alistair's issues are entirely lighting. Zevran's however, make me weep.
I enjoyed DA2, as long as I edit Zev's face back to normal. And I liked both Fenris' and Anders' romance. I've heard awesome things about Isabella's too.

And from a million pages ago - what Kaidan and Shepard do in their off time:
It depends on the Shepard, my Renegade Adept Shepard and my Goody-two-shoes Soldier Shepard do not enjoy the same things.
But my cannon Shepard would probably read/watch vids with Kaidan in her cabin and every now and again would get the whole gang together to go party at Purgatory which would likely end in Kaidan helping her back to the ship for drunk sex.
P.S. You think Alistair and Zev had it bad? Check out Morrigan who (thankfully) didn't manage to see the light of day in DA2. I can only hope that this is an early build that they decided to abandon
