I picture Kaidan as more of a waffle guy, maybe an egg or two on the side with sausage crumbled in and I'm definitely with you on the cheese.  But for some reason I see him digging into a waffle covered with strawberries and whipped cream, given his preference.  Well, maybe that's more my preference, Kaidan, whipped cream, and strawberries at breakfast.

Well since you put it that way....

It's that biotic appetite.  He needs to start the day off right with a hearty breakfast (and a side of Shepard).

Does anyone know what the story/plot purpose was for the Virmire survivor (always Kaidan for me) to be a Spectre. My assumption based on playing the game was just to give the VS the plot point of protecting the council/Udina to do the Citadel quest. It seems such a waste of story. Did I miss other story arcs. I never saw Kaidan at the Spectre Office on the Citadel, which would have been a good chat location or maybe even the two spectres doing a practice session. They have stupid dialogue lines (spectre expense report, etc.) but it just seems either I missed something or this was just another lame story line in ME3. My husband says its going to be a DLC, yeah right. Just wanted to throw this out in case I did miss something in the game. Thanks.

Because Ashley gets the same offer, I presume it's meant to be Udina's manipulation of the Virmire Survivor (always Kaidan in my games, as well) rather than something that actually relates to a longer-term subplot. If it were only Kaidan that got the Spectre offer I'd believe there was more to the story but I just don't see Ash as being qualified. She's never really been in a position to show that she can lead or act on her own without orders.

I also think Kaidan does all of the irritating paperwork that Shepard did on her own in ME2, which both frees up her time to actually, y'know, save the galaxy and endears him to her. I figured Shep spent all of that down time in ME2 waiting for TIM to drop the next juicy tidbit filling out Council forms and requisitions to get reimbursed for that last upgrade she bought.

I've been guilty of breaking those rules as well, but I think you're right that there's been more hug attacking and off-topic chatting than actual Kaidan talk, of late. I love that it's friendly in here and I've certainly had a great time talking with you all but sometimes it is like walking in on a chat room instead of a character thread.

If we're going to keep this a viable LI thread we have to get new blood in as people find the series and NOT get shut down by a forum mod who sees us wandering off-topic more than on. [shrug] Maybe some prompts or weird questions like, "What do you think Kaidan eats for breakfast?" would help.

Can we maybe have a link to the KAAS SWTOR and MP groups somewhere, though? I don't know where to find either of them and...I don't know if you've ever tried to search for something on the BSN but, trust me, it doesn't work. Hell, Google gives better BSN search results than this board does.

I know I posted this a couple of days ago but I'll relink it here because of your post. I know we all like coming together and discussing things other than Kaidan and Kyria has been nice enough to set up a separate forum for links to the SWOTR Guild and GW2 players etc. We figured it would be a good focal point so it would be nice if some more of you wanted to join and we can take non-Kaidan discussions there. Up to you guys though!

I think VS promoted to a Spectre position makes sense because of Shepard. Remember, Shepard becoming a Spectre also had political backing as well from the Alliance. Of course it also had to do with merit, but mostly it was to further Alliance's political goals. It's the same in the VS situation. Shepard was dead, came back technically as a Cerberus agent, and could be or not a Spectre, placing Shepard in a weird place from political point of view.

What the Alliance and Udina needed was some safety, and Spectres, being the hidden hand of the Council, it was necessary to have a human in its ranks for stability. And it is much stable to have the VS, who if Horizon showed us anything, is very loyal to the Alliance.

Even though I saved Kaidan on most occasions, I think Ashley is equally qualified as Kaidan. She may not be a biotic, but she's one tough soldier. True, that she never did have a situation where a show of leadership was prominent, but, in my point of view, I think she's even more stubborn than Kaidan. I mean who knows what happened after ME2 for the VS? A lot could have happened.

Edit: Oh, wow. I can't believe we are past 1950 pages.... at this rate, we are going to reach 2000!!!! :o

Does the Attican Traverse: Krogan Team (or Rachni mission) expire after the Citadel Coup?

No, I've done that one with Kaidan.

Thank you!

I'm trying to get as many missions done with Kaidan as possible. Last time I played  this part of ME3 was on the day of the release and nobody really knew about these details (I thought they would all expire after the Citadel Coup)

But you have to do either Krogan Team or Turian Platoon in order to activate Priority: Tuchanka and if you do Platoon you will *probably* have to do Bomb before the coup too (unless you go strictly Platoon ->Tuchanka->Coup->Bomb). So it's better to do Krogan team before Tuchanka and leave Platoon+ Bomb for later, after the coup. This way you will get more missions with Kaidan :)

EDIT: Wait, I'm not sure if I ain't mistaken. You definitely need to do either Platoon or Krogan Team to aquire one of N7 missions that in turn you need to finish one of CItadel fetch quests, but I'm not sure if Tuchanka gets unlocked only be one of these two mission or can you unlock Tuchanka by doing Grissom for example as well

Sorry kinda off topic, just completed ME3 again (2nd time), finally got the 'breath' scene. It didnt hurt as much as the first time but still so many questions!

The goodbye scene with Kaidan made me well up.

It feels like years ago when we hit 1000 even though it was only in March!

@ leborum
thanks for the reminder
I didn't realize about the rules

speaking about the spectre
If Udina didn't use it to manipulate Kaidan and Ashley
they both qualified in different way
Kaidan is more diplomatic or smooth talker type
and Ashley is more get the job done type

I agree with this
considering Shepard is a wild card
VS will be the perfect choice for stability

actually you can do platoon after tuchanka before do the coup
I always do that to after I get Kaidan

I thought Sur'Kesh activated the genophage cure mission (Priority: Tuchanka) and that's why you can do the other two after the coup.  Now I'm all confused again.  I'm still working my newest Shep up through ME1 but I'm sure someone will clarify.  We all want to know how to get Kaidan as soon as possible.

And thanks, Phoenix!  I meant to click over the other day and never got around to it.

I'll never get the 'breath' scene because I won't play MP. :pinched: Whatever... I'll just wait for EC and see what happens.

That would have been awesome! I really thought that Kaidan should've had another conversation opportunity on the Citadel besides just the date, and the Spectre office would've been perfect. Kinda like the way JVegas came to you about the N7 program.

I agree that most likely it was just to get the VS involved in the coup and create the conflict that could result in the VS death (although why anyone would ever kill Kaidan is still beyond me), and that they really squandered an opportunity to bring in more to the characters. Of course, I also think that about Kaidan's spec ops biotic squad. I would fully support, find Kaidan's squad DLC. Maybe your husband knows something I don't, because I haven't heard about it yet.

I'm gonna check it within an hour, but I do think I remember something like "assist Krogan/Turian while the cure is being synthetized" and you had to do at least 1 mission to get the cutscene with Mordin. Or maybe not xD Those timed mission are so unnecessary. Not only the main missions are more linear then in ME2, they also made the game further more linear with these timed missions. :/

It's also harder to get all of the missions in because the timers are not spelled out in the mission log.  I missed a ton of stuff my first run (and the bomb went off) because I had no idea the order in which I did them mattered.   People who don't research a game before they play it are going to miss out on a lot of stuff and a fair chunk of LI time.

Alisha is the best, that comic makes me so sad though.  Kaidan can't be all alone!  Bioware better make them re-unite and have it be friggin emotional.  Not the terse, cold Shepard they sometimes portray for whatever reason.

I know Priority: Tuchanka is available right now, but since that one activates Citadel Coup, I will wait a little more. Also, someone told me that the Rachni mission does not expire after the Coup...

Honestly, why can't we do them whenever we wanted, like in  ME1 and ME2? The game forces us to do everything in a order...so annoying. I just want Kaidan for every single mission, but since that isn't possible, I want him around for as much as possible... :crying:

IMO, it's sadder because there is a silent mutual attraction and are only able to finally kindle the fire when the galaxy is near its end. :(

I'd really like to know. I think I'm going to try and just do priority missions mostly until the coup so I can get Kaidan earlier and bring him on more missions. I will do the pre-coup misc planet-searching missions just because I know those expire. I wonder if the Cerberus Base you get in the beginning expires after the coup. Or the mission on that old Krogan ground-to-space cannon. I think I will do the Tuchanka bomb one completely before doing Priority: Tuchanka because Bakara mentioned going to the Kelphic (sp?) Valley after the priority mission so I think the bomb mission is actually time-sensitive.

I think your first thought is right. You have to grab one of those missions before tuchanka will activate. Let us know how it turns out.

I really liked ME2's style of missions much better than the linear norm. It seems kinda rare in the world of RPGs though. I love being able to run to your favorite character first and then have them on all the other missions. I really think the whole losing Kaidan for a while was ridiculous. I mean, we had to go through the whole of ME2 without him. He should have been there for good right from the start. I have no clue why they did it this way.

You don't. All you need to do is go pick up the female Krogan and Priority Tuchanka activates. I'm playing it right know :?

Edit: Oh, you mean for the mission to end. Well, you can do the Platoon mission, Tuchanka, Coup, and then the bomb, if I'm not mistaken.

I did the Rachni without Kaidan this time through - first time through I left it for when he was with me and he did not have much to say. So I did Rachni, every single side questy thing before Tuchanka, then I did the genophage cure, then citadel, then I had Kaidan with me for the platoon and bomb missions. Take him with anyone non-Garrus and you get some great Kaidan lines. But if you have Garrus, Kaidan is much more silent.

edit: top - nhaneh's latest is gorgeous, but click through for the animated awesomeness
