Paragon leanings probably fall more in line with his personality and thought processes. Generally I think Kaidan would just prefer a Shepard who makes decisions intelligently, with due regard for the consequences, even if it's not always a "paragon" choice.

I had a hard time seeing my purely Renegade Shepard with Kaidan in ME3, because the Renegade choices just seemed so short-sighted, dumb and mean-spirited that I couldn't imagine him seeing any redeeming quality in her worth his time. In the prior two games the Renegade options were a bit more balanced. In ME3 they just made me ill.

I definitely think Kaidan would have a problem with purely Renegade Shepard, though he'd likely be okay with a Renegon that made decisions based on the big picture rather than just trolling everyone.

Hmmm, Kaidan as an alien.  The Renegade troll response would be volus...    I would say he'd be a Salarian, though I don't recall any strong Salarian biotics.  He'd make a terrible Asari.

 I was going to say I have something more fun than a rifle to occupy Kaidan's hands...   

Kaidan wouldn't like a pure Renegade Shepard, but a Paragon or Para-gade or Rene-gone (whatever it's called) would fit Kaidan's personality well.

Agreed.  I tend to think he leans paragon, but you can influence Kaidan to become more renegade in ME1 (which you should do for his dialogue if you haven't yet), so I think he's okay with more renegade choices if there's a reason for it.  My renegade FemShep hasn't tested this theory yet because she's still stuck on Horizon in an insanity run I gave up on because who puts armor on a husk?  Sooo much work.

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same thinking. Kaidan's personality leans towards mostly-Paragon but tolerable with some renegard options. Although from the perspective of a manshep, I think Kaidan might be a little attracted to a bad boy.

I don't want him to be an alien. Though since apparently the Quarians were once the most beautiful race in the galaxy, I would say I wouldn't mind a Kaid'Alenko vas Normandy without the suit.
