Sorry for this being late but congrats to those who got a chance to meet Raphael at MCM! Great to hear about all the extra recording he did as well - I'll be starting another complete ME run-through soon so hopefully there will be some EC news by the time I get to ME3.

Forgive my ignorance. Again, I'm new to the Kaidan fandom. I thought most biotics that went to BAat Camp had issues with their families? or the instructors tried to makeout biotics as something to be feared?

Did Kaidan have issues with his parents, or were they always on good terms?

We don't have enough information on what went on with other Brain Camp members to speculate.  All that's mentioned of Rana's family is that they were wealthy, not how they felt about her being a biotic.  

I don't imagine a lot of the kids had it easy, though, considering the insanity rate and general prejudice biotics recieved.

well it doesn't quite explain that part, Kaidan does say things about his family, but he says good things about them. Never says he hates them for taking him to brain camp or anything

We don't really know.  There's a line in ME1 when Kaidan talks about his history and he says something like, "My father served.  It made him proud when I enlisted, eventually."  It can be interpreted either as it took a while for his father to come around, or that it took a while for him to join the Alliance.

As for the biotics in general having issues with their families, I think there is, or was (doesn't come up much in ME3), a general stigma.  The biotic extremists who abducted the politician illustrated that.  It's been a long time since I read the book, but I believe Hendel Mitre was at BAat too and he talks about his past a little bit.

And finally, I have no idea what that last post was about.

I have a request. Could anyone help me test Udina's coup variables? I'm trying to figure out how much "friendship/trust" points you need during the stand-off with VS to achieve all outcomes. I just tested that the Paragon/Renegade interrupt adds one point and in my case (did everything right with Kaidan as mShep except for killing the old council) NOT taking the interrupt changed how much points I had and I had to take Charm/Indimidate option with Kaidan. When I did take the interrupt (both Paragon/Renegade, tested both), Kaidan automatically stood down.

What I need is to know whether romance points are taken into account for mShep with Kaidan (or FemShep with Ashley), even though they shouldn't be since you couldn't romance them.

So. Does anyone has a playthrough/saves like this? - FemShep, NO romance with Kaidan in ME1, killed the council, was nice to Kaidan on Mars (denied Cerberus involvement etc), visited Kaidan all times in hospital + Thane/Kirahee saves Salarian Councilour? Basically did everything right with Kaidan except killing the old Council AND didn't romance him (which means no +2 points bonus)?

If yes, could you test how the coup goes both when you take the Paragon/Renegade interrupt during the stand-off and when you don't take it?

Unfortunately no Default ME3 has Thane & Kirahee dead so Kai Leng kills the Salarian councilor and it influences the points count. Plus, I'm not sure whether +2 romance bonus would count in default ME3. technically, you didn't even had a chance to romance him since there's no Genesis comic equivalent in ME3. So no, wouldn't be good

In any case, TAKE THE INTERUPT during the coup people Both Paragon AND Renegade (Paragon interrupt appears if you took Paragon line, Renegade if you took Renegade line) .It's the last chance to get some points with Kaidan and may save you if you messed up alot before that

hehe actually you don't need any loyalty missions.

I've just been through the death etc etc, without the upgrades, impossible.

however when you get to "hold the line" around 4 party members die (unless you use miranda as 2nd fire team leader the 2nd time, unless it's a glitch but meh)

if zaeed, grunt and garrus all live to hold the line

3 party members will die. so basicly you can survive with 0 loyalties.

(unless i'm doing my maths wrong )

Edit: basicly the best people to die/take with you to boss is, Tali, kasumi, mordin and jack

i will edit this until i get it right!

Edit 2: do it in this order and you should be fine

All normandy upgrades

Vent specilist: Tali/kasumi

Fire arm leader: any

Death of vent specilist

biotic sphere: use samara/morinth

Bring jack and garrus with you

Death of jack

use miranda as 2nd fire team leader

if the guide is true then miranda lives, if not then she dies (oh well)

Escort: mordin

Mordin dies

Hold the line:

Bring Kasumi/Tali (for who didn't die at vent specilist) and one of these members:
Thane, legion, samara, jacob or miranda (they both die)

This leads

Grunt, zaeed and garrus alive with 3 or 4 members alive

Average is 2 so everyone survives (with 3 alive extra alive)

if 4 extra alive it will cause around 2 deaths max

there its done!

I figured you did it as a favor to me so we didn't have teh same avatar anymore and could tell our posts apart!   I didn't want to dispell that nice thought by asking. 

Kaidan is happy to *finally* start/rekindle a romance with Shepard and sad because he knows Star-brat is coming to take Shepard away from him.

I like my squad too much to let them die in the SM, I've never been able to avoid the loyality missions.

No don't bother, I don't want anyone to go through the game just to check this. If anyone already has a save before the coup with such variables then I would ask to check it, but otherwise ain't worth it for such a small thing

I think they have mShep still a little closeted.  The Kaidan & Shep "goodbye" hug & kiss in London was only because Kaidan pulled Shep in.   I was SO mad when I saw Shepard just getting ready to walk away from Kaidan, I said something like "Don't just walk away you bastard, you love him! Kiss him!"    Yes, I'd like to see Shepard say ILY in the EC but there is *SO* much else that needs "fixing" for the EC.
