Okay, that makes me angry. Since the romances for Kaidan are mostly copy/paste for both sexes, there is no reason why they should have cut it.

I've just posted in Cortez thread. You can really early lock yourself out of any romance if you talk to Liara and tell her Ash is a friend and har also. Been on 2 major missions and both of them still friendzone me. I'm tempted to Virmire Kaidan just to test it... M.

Really? I had one Shepard tell Kaidan that Liara was just a friend and visa versa and had her flirt with both of them (cuz she gets attached to people real easy and has trouble letting them down gently, she has issues >.>), and I got the confrontation scene where Shepard has to choose.

I did a test and went a game without talking to Liara on the Normandy and one time still ended up with that confrontation scene.
It was strange to hear "THERE'S A LOWER DECK RUMOR SHE'S INTERESTED IN YOU" when I did not even speak to her.

Well...I finished my ME1 play through tonight...and the look on Kaidan's face when my Shep vaulted over that thing was so totally worth the anxiety of keeping him alive during the final boss fight. Imported my Shep into ME2, and got another small glimpse of my Kaidan...not looking forward to Horizon, now...really not. Might have to write a "fix-it!" fic for that...

That sucks. During my canon playthrough, I did Therum first, parked Liara in the office behind the medlab, forgot she existed (except when she insisted on mind melding me , which I was constantly screaming "No, back off!"), and never had that happen.


Have to say, as much as Liara annoyed me in ME1 and creeped me out in ME2, I actually liked her more in ME3. (minus the whole thing with Thessia). Sure, she's still shoved in your face, but that's more a BioWare thing than anything else. Still never going to romance her though.

In ME1 I thought Liara was going to be a traitor, so I didn't trust her.   There was no Like or Dislike.   I got to like her in ME2 on Illum and then in LotSB.  I dislike that she's so forced on me in ME3, but that's the dev's not the character.

I'll agree with that.    I started a new Shepard the other night but been busy so only got finished with Eden Prime and rescued Javik last night.   It'll be hard to not date Kaidan or Steve again but I haven't decided on a LI for this Shep.

If I ever manage to finish John Shepard's (my paragon) ME2 run, I think I'll have him go for Cortez. *rubs hands together eagerly* He doesn't have good luck with women, he left Ashley on Virmire and Samara rejected him.

Taryn Shepard has always only loved Kaidan.

Ellyria Shepard, I dunno what I'm going to do. She only romanced Thane, she might end up alone.

Chylise Shepard will end up going back to Kaidan, seeing as she lost "THE PRIIIIIIIIZE" to Lady Hawke... I mean Brynn Cole.

Sheploo Shepard is happy getting some in a shipping crate with his sassy redhead blonde Kelly. (Originally he romanced Tali, but I found it a touch weird, so I New Game+'d him and had him go for Kelly instead)

yeah, i had Mila pegged to cheat on Kaidan with Thane... but before the Sucicde mission, she broke it off with Thane... so now she is rewarded with a Butt Oggle and an "I love you" on the date...

Eww!  No way, not only is her voice annoying, she looks too much like the wife of a friend of mine.   When she hit on my Shepard I (shuddered) and could get her out of my cabin fast enough!    I wish I could skip the interviews.   I don't know why I let her on my ship anymore the EMS isn't worth the /shudder moment.  

No, my firends wife isn't that Chabot chick... though she is a reported for a local paper.

Taryn and Chylise saved Kaidan because of their relationship. Ellyria, John, and Sheploo saved him because he's a biotic and has a higher rank than Ashley. I like Ashley well enough, but... dammit Kaidan!

TESTED IT!
I've Virmired Kaidan and no drama, no ninjamancing from either Ash or Liara. It appears that if you really talk to Liara and tell her there is nothing between you and Ash and between you and her, you lock yourself out of the romances. No drama between them both also, no "did you choose me over Kaidan because of us", nothing. Nobody comes to Shep when Udina screwed him and he's waiting on the Normandy... I did chose "get it together soldier" instead of "don't sacrifice yourself", which might be the last point if you want to "do" something with Ash, but I really don't know and don't feel like testing it. Virmireing Kaidan is haaard . M.

You do! All you have to do is flirt with both of them, then when they ask "Is something going on between you and Kaidan/Liara", just answer "No, we're just friends." Do not tell Kaidan that you're not interested in him, or Liara that you just want to be friends (her renegade "I'm not interested in you Liara" response is bugged and will still flag the romance), otherwise it unflags the romance. Assuming you do Therum first, the confrontation should happen after your third planet.

So I'll just recap that, since I suck at explaining things:

1) Flirt with Kaidan, flirt with Liara
2) When they ask about your relationship with the other person, lie and say there's nothing going on
3) Keep flirting with both, don't tell them you're not interested in them
4) Confrontation scene, pick Kaidan or Liara (suggesting a threesome will end the romance with Kaidan and keep the romance with Liara)
5) Profit!

I was trying to be objective. 

But isn't it always odd how bugged conversations seem to tip in favor of Shepard and Liara as a couple? First telling her that you're not interested in ME1 still flags her romance. Now in ME3, her father will refer to Shepard as Liara's boyfriend/girlfriend and how the two of you set each other's panties on fire even if you had Shepard romance someone else. There's trickery afoot.


Dangit, there I go all non-Kaidan again. *takes happy pills*

Yes, I know, that's what I said. If you want the confrontation between Liara and Ashley/Kaidan, you CANNOT choose the "I just want to be friends" option. I'm just pointing out that choosing the Renegade option with Liara, which should unflag the romance, is bugged and will flag the romance anyway.
